Well, was sleeved on Friday and home on Saturday. The pain I can handle but the nausea the first night was TERRIBLE! I'm getting my Water in but not much else, but then again haven't spent a whole day at home. Doc says the surgery went well, (what is he going to say?!) but I did have a splenic bleed. Not a big deal since he was able to stop it...Am looking forward to some good walking today and my "Bari-full" diet for two weeks!!

My surgery was a success and recovery is somewhat slow then I expected. I have some pain but not a lot matter fact the only time I feel real pain is when I cough or sneeze. I having a hard time in getting Water in. But I am able to eat yogurt, Jello and Protein Shake. I will just be glad when I can get these staples removed. I also realize some of my clothes are getting big. I almost forgot is anyone having some tenderness in their legs I just noticed it today? Call my insurance 24 hr nurse line and she said that I can just keep on taking the blood thinner and everything should be ok. I will probably call my doctor's office tomorrow to be on the safe side. I will be glad when my life gets back to some type of normalize.

Congrats glad to hear all is ok, as for the leg I had the same in my right leg like someone froze it an the freezing was coming out , now it is just the right thigh, went to dr, he said to get the leg massaged, have not done that yet, but it is getting better, comes and goes,

Walk, follow the regime for food, on 4th week and down 31 lbs and 16 inches, the other day I tried on my 14 capris and cried they fit, a little snug, but they fit,

Ok, it is alomost my second completed post-op week. I am feeling amazing well and staples are out. Now I just have to wait 30 days to begin my exercise program. I have lost 29 lbs, so far and walking everyday to loss some more. My only complaint is that my arms are look a bit saggy and I was wonder what to do about that. I hope that they will not become more swagger before I can start my exercise program. I plan on attacking the weights hard to build up the muslces. I just do not want to be swaggy. In the meantime does anyone know of some exercises I can do right now that want mess with my healing process?

Glad to hear you are doing well! I've been using small handweights about 5 lbs and doing reps until muscle exhaustion. I sit in my chair to support my back and stomach and do every arm exercise I can think of until I cant go anymore. I'm not as saggy as I used to be so it must be working.

Hi Yall!!

I know I have been MIA but I am struggling!

I was sleeved on 3/21 and everything worked out well. One night stay in the hospital went home with my drain.

1 week post op and the drain was removed and still stuck on full liquids!! YUCK! I could not get in my Protein, Water or anything else. Not because it hurt! Because, I am afraid I may derail the teachings from the NUT (Who is dumb) and just f up my sleeve.

2 Week post op check up! YAY, mushy foods. Well here is the catch. The hospital has 2 different practices that perform this procedure. However, only one class to discuss the pros and cons and what to expect. So the book that was given to us in the pre op class says soft chicken, etc. can be added. NOT MY PRACTICE. I can have canned meat just not chicken breast.

Well, that blew my high! I took to chewing meat and spitting it out during Easter dinner. Only chicken. The scale is moving but it hasnt moved as quickly as I would like.

I am down 37 lbs. but still a size 18. Which makes me laugh. Who in the world do you knoe that can lose damn near 40 lbs and still fit the same size pants????

Weird.

Any who I am back at work and prefer wasting time here online then at home!!

Hope my sleeve sisters are rocking out!!1

hey everyone!! How are all of y'all doing?? I'm 26 days post op and doing really good! Still having trouble getting enough Protein, but I am getting about 30g a day at least. I'm trying! went for my follow up with the doc and he said I should be eating 1000 calories a day! Not exactly sure how that would be possible!!! I'm getting MAYBE 400-500. I really never thought there would be a point in my life when someone telling me I had to have 1000 calories a day would seem like too much. It's crazy to think about the life change in just less than a month. as for my weight...I've lost 18lb which I was so excited about when I had lost that in just 2 weeks. But I haven't lost anything since that 2 week mark. Really was hopinh that 3 week stall would skip me but no such luck! I'm going to start working out this week so hopefully that'll get things moving again! I have a beach trip at the end of may for my birthday so I want to lose as much as I can before then! I'm curious to know how much other people have lost that had surgery dates close to me. Let me know!

Hope everyone is well and happily sleeved! :)

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
