Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

Hows ur recovery?

My recovery is great. No complications it went awesome and as of Thursday I was down 17 lbs . I didn't weigh myself again yet I'm going to wait until Fri or Sat. I will tell everyone to go for it. I had my surgery in Englewood' date=' nj with Dr Ibrahim and Dr String.[/quote']

Hi everyone. I had my sleeve 12/13/11. I've lost 75 poundsS. I had a lot of pockets of fat that hanged from my back my sides and my tummy. Even though I'm down to a size 10 from a 22, I became depressed when I undressed. I tried everything to firm up and burn that fat. I got up to 5 miles 5 days on the tracks. I got a lot of "oh my God, you look great!" but, I was depressed when I undressed. On 8/23/12, I went to phrase 2. I had SmartLipo. I'm still bruised and swollen, but I know I will be pleased after I heal up. I will let everyone know as I progress. Good luck to all who are about to start this journey.....it is SO worth it. Stay prayerful.

I am so sorry this has happened to you. Is there a reason why the leak won't heal? I heard that if this type of the thing happened that the next step would be gastric bypass.

We need to pray for healing. I pray this leak is healed in Jesus Name that more weapons form against you prosper. Lay your hands on the area bless some lotion or Vaseline & never say it won't heal speak it into existence that it's healed!!! I'll be praying until you are healed

I was sick just like you. I had two surgeries back to back and a blood transfusion. I was sleeved june 26 2012. In and out the hospital. I cried everyday. I begged God to help me. So many er visits. I prayed and prayed for healing . I also had many people praying for me. God heal me. I was able to finally drink today and eat without throwing up or getting nauseated . I read healing scriptures . It helped. God wants to heal you and he will. I wanted to give up so many times. God would not let me. He would send people to talk to me. I have a wonderful husband . He will not let me give up. I would get so depress. I could not even go to the store without getting sick. Simple stuff I was use to doing like washing dishes, I could not do without getting sick. I started asking God to help me . I even had to started praying for my doctors. Today I saw a change.

I will pray for you. I know it works.

Be strong and know that God loves you. He is willing and able to heal you.

He is always with you.
