African American Sleevers

  • Popular Post

Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought, no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

PS- I TRULY  ALL SLEEVERS.

Hi everyone. I had my surgery on Sept. 10th in Tijuana. Everything went well and I am back home watching TV.

Congrats, I'm glad everything went well. Take care.

Question for those women that have been sleeved for awhile...have you guys kept your shape/curves after losing the weight. I pride myself in being curvy and don't want to lose it just because I will be losing weight. I never had this problem before but I have never lost a significant amount (20-30lbs).

Hello everyone' date=' have a question about the gallbladder. (Someone who never had any health problems besides being overweight)

I'm afraid of getting sleeved, because I've read that most weightloss surgeries later down the line your gallbladder will have to be removed has anyone been thru this and is it best to have ot removed at the same time the sleeve is done, I just don't want to go thru this later on.I have no health problems. Please advise? I'm just waiting on approval from the Insurance company.[/quote']

Before I was sleeved I had an ultrasound that revealed I had gall stones, I had never had any pain what so ever. But since I did have gall stones my doctor automatically removed it. I think this might have played a part in the extra time it took for me to recover. But in the long run I'm sure it was worth it.

Thanks for replying.

3 weeks out. No problems. Eating normal food. Had a slice of thin crust veggie pizza!! Ate really slow, small bites and chewed, chewed, chewed!!!.

I started having serious problems with my gallbladder after surgery. I thought it would get better but it kept getting worst so I had mine removed three weeks ago. I feel better now that I've gotten it removed.

I've kept my shape however it wasn't what it use to be before I gained all my weight. I'm now trying to tone up to see if that helps.

293 @ beginning of journey, 266 pre surgery, post op 253 on 9/9/13. Today, not sure I do not weigh myself, judge by my clothes. I know if it least 1 dress size down. :)

Did you have any Gallbladder problems before the surgery? And was it checked before. Thanks for replying.

Hello everyone I had my surgery 8-27-13 so far all is well thank God:)

Good for you! Hope you continue with no problems

lucky you.... I look like a 12 year old boy...

Even when I was younger & 130 pounds, I've never had much in the boob area...but I had ass for days!! and a tiny waist ....it was my best ASSet!

then I gained weight and my butt grew with me... it was HUGE but loveable...

now that I have lost the weight, my butt is GONE! ALL GONE!! I have a tiny waist again but no butt.... NONE

Ive been lifting weights & doing squats but so far it is not helping...

today I had on size 6 skinny jeans from Aeropostale... even when I was a size 6 in the past I couldnt wear this brand because of my big butt...

Im not ecstatic about that but at least Im not a size 22 anymore....
