Kaiser Richmond/kaiser South San Francisco Gastric Sleeve Brothers And Sisters!

Recommended Posts

:( Hi Eeveryone, I was on the LBT forum and took about a year to decide after orientation in Richmond if the bariatric option was for me and I am now ready to make the change.

Apparently a lot has changed in a year. i was set on the band and now I am reading stuff saying that Richmond is no longer offering it? Seems like I will be having to research the sleeve now.......

I will be going to the Point West meeting next weekend if anyone from this forum will be there.....

Hi Irkenpanda, can you tell me when the Point West meeting is this weekend?

Hi Ashley,

Doing well here. Weight is coming off slow, but coming off. I'm still exercising a minimum of 90 minutes a day and try for more as often as possible. I did some snacking at a conference last week and gained 2 pounds. I definitely can't snack and expect to lose weight. I hope you can get your eating on track before it's harmful to your goals.

I think there's a support group that meets out your way. Do you go to that one?

Hi All...I got my sleeve on Wed and csme home yesterday. Dr. Alami said it was "textbook." The last two days have been a blur. The 2.5 hour drive home was a nightmare. I swear I felt every bump in the road. I wish I had stayed an extra day.

I have been in a lot of pain and am trying to figure out what works for me. The Pepcid is huge. It makes such a difference in how I feel. Just sipping Water becomes painful when it wears off. I am getting Maalox to help bridge the gap between the Pepcid since I can only take it every 12 hours and it wears off at about 7.

I am taking liquid Tylenol with codeine for pain, but hoping to switch to regular liquid tylenol tomorrow since I think the codeine is making me constipated. Right now, just trying to sip as much as I can. Sooooo not interested in eating or drinking, but I am forcing myself to choke down my Protein shake. It looks like it will be an all day affair to get down 8 oz.

Anyway...just wanted to check in. Thanks for all the support! It really heps knowing you all are around :(

Hello, I am going to orientation on Monday at the Kaiser in Vacaville. I am so happy they offer the orientation and some appointments at Vacaville. It is much closer to Sacramento then Richmond is. My mom also wants to get the sleeve done and its great that we were able to get an orientation date together. Does anyone know the average weightloss required pre-surgery? Is it 10% of your body weight? I have seen conflicting numbers. I am sure that I will have more questions after orientation!

Hi Hugsamber...I think it varies on your surgeon and your overall shape. People who tend to carry the majority of their weight in the belly may be asked to lose more and some surgeons seem to want more loss than others. I started out at 247 pounds and was asked to lose 17. I don't really carry my weight in my belly so that may be a factor.

Hi all, I am still around. I have gotten so discourage here lately. Dr. Le put me on 2 Protein Shakes a day and one meal, and I have gained a pound from my last visit! I don't know what to do. My next appointment is in 17 days and I have 17 pounds to lose! Don't think it's happening. Ha!

Gee Stacy...I am sorry. What kind of Protein Shake are you drinking? How much calaries/carbs? The shake I drink has 130 calories, 24 grams of Protein, 4 carbs, and 1.5 g of fat. They only thing I can think of is that maybe your shakes has too much of the bad stuff and you are inadvertently consuming more than you should.

I alternate between 2, one has 160 cal and 1 carb and the other is 170 and 4 carbs. I will keep doing this until I go back and see what he says. Maybe I am not getting enough?

Maybe you should email your doctor and let him know what is going on. No point in continuing with a plan that doesn't work. Maybe you can consult with a nutritionalist and get something for effective for you.

Hi everyone, I'm new here to the website and am just starting the program. I had my orientation at Kaiser in Richmond, and met with my surgeon earlier in the week. I'm just wating now for my psych appointment, and I have to do a sleep study in 2 weeks. I feel like everything is going pretty quickly and only have 11 mre pounds to loss to get a surgery date.

Thanks! I didn't even think of that. I just sent him one, so we will see what he says.

It was easy to switch, I just called Richmond and told them I wanted a second opinion since I was not comfortable with my last visit. They don't schedule second opinions at the same facility so they sent the referral to SSF and then SSF contacted me with an appt date.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
