Hi everyone, I last posted on 11-6-04 according to this forum. I lost my computer to a virus, blah, blah, and am just now getting back. Of course that is not the only reason, but I am so glad to be back. I am enjoying reading all the messages, and I have a lot to catch up on. The last time I remember reading posts, they had just come back from Las Vegas. Well I will post again later, I am at work and have to shut it all down. Terry

Help me! I was being such a good little bandster......and then came the holiday weekend-I'm not filled yet- and I haven't had any rejection from any type of food- but I was doing okay- hungry but okay- Then we had friends over this weekend on two occassions- while I cooked I snacked- then I realized what I was doing and sat down to eat my cottage cheese- instead of junk- then while I sat down to dinner with friends I realized I was drinking/eating at the same time! Yikes- I stopped- we all went out for cocktails and I had iced tea...I guess I won some battles- But- today I had my 1/2 veggie burger-- then some grilled chicken, avacodo and salad- doing good- came home a…

Hello everyone, I was banded on June 28, its been a week .Minimal amount of pain my worst episode was having to drink the yellow Fluid from the bowels of hell.,omg that is the most foulest tasting liquid on earth. I'm doing better everyday managed to walk around the neighborhood for 30 minutes yesterday. experienced some discomfort my first few days at home.. gas and difficulty getting out of the bed. thank GOD for GAS-X AND 2 STRONG ARMS... Had lost 10 pounds before surgery, and 10 this week. staying on the liquid diet but have upgraded to creamy Soups made watery..its really a threat after bland liquids for days. Vitamins, water and the Protein drink H…

HELLO EVRYONE My name is Jennifer and I have my lapband procedure on 7/27. I have read so much in the last few months here. You ladys and men seem to be a wounderful support system. I'm very excited but scared about this life change. I'm sure I'll be just fine. Hope to be a banded buddy soon! Best wishes to all.

I have lost 19lbs since January (surgery). I been the same weight for three months. I can't eat much. Breakfast- 3/4c oatmeal lunch 8 chicken nuggets from chic fillet dinner 3 oz steak and salad... I do like to have ice cream and eat a couple per day, but my overall calorie intake is not too much. My band gets tight sometimes too. My problem is I think I need to eat more. How can I work out and eat just a little? Do you think I need a fill or what?

Hello I am new to your forum and really enjoying reading your posts. I have recently had a fill which was too tight and caused me to vomit my saliva every 20 minutes until 4am when i went to the emergency rooms to have some saline removed. As I vomited so many times I am now worried that this may have caused the band to slip or to stretch the pouch. Does any bandsters out there know if vomiting will cause this to happen? Thank you Chack

Since my surgery I have never been able to feel my port, nor did I even know where it is, UNTIL NOW. For the past two days I have had some soreness in my right upper stomach muscle as though the port (which I can now feel under my skin) is pulling on it every time I move. It is causing some pretty prominet soreness which hinders my ablility to do every day things like lift my son and housework. The pain isn't unbearable but it scares me because I am afraid something is out of place or something. Is this normal? What should I do? I see my doctor tommorow. Anyone else have this? What was the outcome? Thanks

I had my surgery in Feb and did very well for first few months. A few times I would eat too much and definitely felt the effects. I did vomit a few times (mucus type substance and some food) but overall was feeling good. I had my first fill after 6 weeks and the weight started coming off. I had my second fill a month later and it was too much restriction. I went in the next day and they removed the fluid they had just added and everything was fine. Again I was doing well and losing weight. However, about a month and 1/2 ago I started having serious problems. I developed Acid Reflux and continue to suffer nightly from this. I am on Protonix (40mg) TWICE a day and …

I know you can have eggs, and maybe some cottage cheese? Let me know I am just curious right now. I am not going to go eat or anything! Angie

It's bizarre. All along I've had no particular goal for my banding journey, just wanted to be healthier and more mobile. I haven't even really set mini-goals, except one that I didn't articulate to anyone until after I'd met it. Well, my two-year bandiversary is coming up and I've made an appointment for a checkup with my surgeon. I'm hoping that by the time it comes around on August 10, I will have lost a few more pounds and can tell him that reflux is totally gone and I'd like to get another fill in September. So I decided what the hell, I'll set myself a little challenge: 210 by August 10. And what happens? I get hungry!! I've been munching almonds all morning, wh…

My band has tightened up the past few days. How can a band get tighter? My husband says it is impossible and that it must be my stomach. What do you think? I am much tighter. I ate some melted cheece a few nights ago and pb'd for an hour... do you think I am still swollen? It has been four days. thanks...

So... I was banded on June 7. I have hovered at a loss of 13-14 lbs. It has been almost a month. I will not lie to you, I wanted more than 14 lbs to be gone by now. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> I started real food on Tuesday and my restriction is mild. I really want to get kick started. I want to succeed. I want to do this for me. What I don't want is to fall back in my old habits. I have already gained some great new habits but I fear losing them and reverting back to the old me. The me that wanted to take a nap when I got home because I was tired, the old…

I had my third fill last friday (4 days ago). I'm up to 3 ccs in an inamed band. Since then I've been able to drink liquids (slowly) and have kept down some yogurt. But I've been burping like mad ever since Friday. (that hasn't happened with the other fills) I was woken up out of my sleep just now with my stomach making very loud noises and I've been having this dull pain that sort of throbs...goes away and comes back every minute or so. I got up and took two tums, then after awhile I thought well, maybe I'm just really hungry....and tried to eat some yogurt. This doesn't seem to be changing things for me...the pain is there. Do I just have gas? I don't know....b…

I've seen many questions lately from people wondering "why even get the band"? They figure if they could just stick to 1200-1500 calories a day like bandsters should, they can lose weight without having surgery and avoid the pain and cost associated with it. They're right. If they can stick to the 1200-1500 calories a day, they will lose weight. It's not like the band is magical and forces your body not to accept any more than 1500 calories a day. It's not like a faucet where once you've reached your daily limit (no matter what time of day), you can't possibly eat anymore. Because you can. It's true that you can chug high calorie liquids all day long with the band and y…

Hi All - Because Diane is a member here, and has posted, I wanted to let everyone know that she's having some problems and could use your thoughts and prayers. Diane had her band placed by Dr. Lopez, and I believe the removal was performed by him as well, since she is one of his patient coordinators.

I had my first fill on June 30(1.5). I know that people have said that they feel "full" faster after a fill. Do you actually feel "full" or is it just a feeling of satisfaction and not needing to eat more? I don't actually feel full, but am satisfied. I am eating the way that I am suppose to... protiens first, fruits and veggies second, etc. I still think that I am "able" to eat more than i should be able to. I am eating less than pre-banned days, but the nurse said I would only be able to eat about 3 - 4 oz. I am pretty sure I am/could eat more than that. I measured my chicken out last night and it was 3 oz. but I also had cucumbers and watermelon on top of the me…

WOW! What pain! The incisions don't hurt as much as passing the gas. And everytime I burp something tends to come with it. Gaviscon helps some and the suppositories help with the nausea. My advice to anyone who has not had it done yet is to drink lots of Water the day before. I was at the surgery center an extra 2 to 3 hours because I couldn't urinate. I don't want to scare anyone. I just don't think that there is anyway to totally prepare for this. I'd love to hear from anyone who has had this done in the last 1-2 weeks and who can assure me that this will get better! The good news is that I dropped 12 pounds just on the pre-op diet. So I'm 12# closer to my goal.

Hi there I'm a bit concerned as since having my 2nd fill (a week ago) I am getting some discomfort when I eat and saliva in my mouth. I did ask the guy for more restriction as after my first fill I felt very little so he told me he took 6cc out and put 8 in. Possibly this is my band working properly for me for the first time and it has come as a bit of a shock. I was on fluids for three days and then on to sloppy food but am not able to eat comfortably what I had after 1st fill (I just tried half a tuna sandwich and could only manage about two thirds of it) Is this normal and if it is will it gradually ease off, or could the band be too tight, I'm reluctant to complain …

Hey all....I was banded 05-05-05...and have been soooo good as far as my diet and exercise. I havent had any junk food. McDonalds was non exsistant, Dunkin Donuts fell off the face of the earth and I turned my nose up at the chip isle in the food store. Just recently I have been not so good and now I feel like crap!! I stopped for McDonalds breakfast yesterday, got eggs, sausage and the hashbrown.....and had a cup of coffee with it....Then dinner I ate three or four BBQ spare ribs (BIG ONES), and TWO pieces of my husbands birthday cake. I have been craving soda (haven't acted on that one)...I have been sneeking spoonfuls of ice cream...regular full on Fat Filled Ice C…

Just 9 short weeks after I get my band I am going to be in the happiest place on earth. My husband and I are going to sneek away for 4 days and 3 nights at our favorite place, Walt Disney World. We are celebrating his birthday and our anniversary. My question is, will I be able to ride the rides? Will I still be sore at the port 9 weeks later? Also I know I should be back on solids with no problem so I can eat, just less food. I really can't wait. I hope I will need a new swimsuit and maybe some smaller shorts too. ~Mandy

I never thought doing some house cleaning could be so much fun! I was banded on 5/26 and according to my doctor's scale, am down 16.5lbs. Today I decided it was time to go through my closets and see what fit and what needed to be given away. I have two large walk in closets in my house: one in my bedroom and one upstairs that is filled with bags of clothes that do not fit. The closet in my bedroom has one rack of suits that I wear all the time, one rack of blouses I wear all the time and one rack of suits that don't fit but will soon. The last suit I bought (about 6-8 weeks ago) was an 18W (it was little big but not too much). I ended up touching EVERY piece of clo…

Okay, so tonight I had a real moment of weakness. I think what's been hardest in these 8 days since I got the band is that I've always used food as a form of comfort. With post-surgery pain and feeling sorry for myself I've really needed some comfort but the swelling I had (and dr's orders) meant I wasn't able to have much comfort food. broth just doesn't cut it. So tonight I was obsessing about having some potato Soup. It's a fave. I did everything I could to divert my brain. I had two sugar free popsicles, I tried watching a movie on TV, normally I would try a bath but I can't take baths yet....(this really blows having my main comfort tricks off limits) So I …

Hi,<o =""></o> I was banded on Monday 27 June and am feeling almost back to 'normal' after a week of discomfort. I have been walking a little but I am interested to hear advice on exercise. <o =""></o> I am a gym goer and I walk the dog and that is about the extent of my usual exercise regime. I enjoy the gym (when I don’t feel like I’m the only one in a baggy t-shirt) and I am a member of a new (t-shirt friendly) gym which opened last week. I usually do weights classes (Pump) and cycling classes but my Dr. has said no go until about 4 week post-op. Is this generally the case?<o =""></o> <o =""></o>Also, giv…

My doctors office called today and they moved my surgery date up to the 11th of July, from the 26th. I cannot believe it. I am excited but now the anxiety is setting in. I have been reading the posts and everyone is so helpful! I really want to NOT tell anyone at work, I am going to take the week off, I really hope this is enough time. One question I do have, I guess that I will call the Office, What kind of pain meds do they give you, how long did everyone need them? Did anyone do without them? Any feedback is welcome.

I am watching the Discovery Health channel. They are playing Ann Wilson: From the Heart. Its her telling her story. I know we all have our own story and struggles with our weight issues but I can only imagin how stressfull it is in the harsh light of the public eye. They also have Carnie Wilson talking about her weight loss. I have to applaud the Discovery channel. This is a very well done story. They only give breif information on both serguries but its enough to give the people that previously did not know what lap band is know that there is an alturnative to rny. I hope they play it again so I can watch it from the begining.

Hello, you New York bandsters! I haven't seen a lot of activity on the New York list lately, so I thought would at least say hello and see if everyone is still out there! I went to our "Lap-band Lifestyle reinforcement" class yesterday (we have it once a month for post-ops). It was VERY interesting. The nutritionist came in and reinforced the "basics" with us, and then we talked about real-life eating. We even talked about eating out in a healthy way. Living in New York, I'm sure that some of you will related to eating at ITALIAN restaurants. Sometimes that's a real chore. I asked the nutritionist of the following sauces, which was the best: Scampi, Wine, M…

I start my liquid diet on the 18th and I have soooooo much to do between now and my surgery date it isn't even funny. What I need is a list of things that I will need post-op. I know plenty of liquid stuff, I bought 3 cases of Propel at the store today, it was on sale with no limit, woohoo! I also have a really good heating pad. What else will I need? What gas relief product do you all suggest? Is a squishy pillow needed for abdominal pain? I have a recliner and I plan to sleep there for the first few nights. Anything else I am going to need? ~Mandy

I'm down about 20 lbs. was a few more before i added mushies-but my doc said to expect that- no fill yet- I'm supposed to wait 4-6 weeks before fill- I've been logging food on fitday.com- I'm at 80g protein and about 1000-1100 calories- Any other ideas for lowfat, high protein mushie…
