I cannot belive it, Tomorrow is the day- I have to be at the hospital by 0530. I am so excited but I have to admit the anxiety is getting worse, I was up half the night. My mind won't stop. Usually when I stress, I eat and smoke. Today I am cleaning. I am going to try to substitute movement for eating. Hopefully I can do this. I am suppose to be on clear liquids today, shouldn't be too bad. Just missing my coffee.

How many honestly for the 2 weeks prior to the surgery actually drank only the Optifast? (no food) (for those of you that had to do it) Did you feel sick- like maybe low sugar or anything like that? How about the runs? Did you lose weight? If you didnt, did they still do the surgery? Any other input? I am not on this yet, just asking I dont have my surgery date yet... I want to be prepared...

I work for a website. Once a year, we have a party, for the anniversary of the company and invite members from the website. Last night was this year's party. Most of the people, I hadn't seen since last year. I ended up having about 8 people comment on how much weight I'd lost. My coworkers, don't really notice, as they see me everyday - so it felt pretty darn good! It was the first time since the surgery that people who didn't know about it (the surgery), commented on my weightloss. *dancing a happy dance* hehe

I feel like I need to burp, nothing happens. I had my husband pat me on the back like suggested, again nothing. Is this normal? Maybe things are swollen and it takes time? Any suggestions would be great because I think I would feel alot better if I could let out a huge belch!

For those who like to eat low carb..and snack that will fill you up I have this recipe you might like I found awhile back.... Pepperoni chips 6 ounces pepperoni, thinly sliced Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Lay the pepperoni slices in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven and soak up the excess grease by pressing paper towels against the pepperoni chips. Return the pan to the oven and bake an additional 2 to 4 minutes, until the pepperoni slices are very crispy. Serve as a snack anytime or use in place of crackers for dipping or for topping with your favorite cheese! They'll stay fresh and crispy for 1 …

I'm not sure if I have an ulser or not. Before I got my band I would have burning in my upper stomach. It would go away for months and come back. I haven't felt it since the band, the past few days I feel it again. My question is if I do have an ulser would it effect the band? I worry alot, but I hate to go to the Dr. The burning is higher then the band. Anyone have any input about this would be great. Thanks alot!

New member to LBT <HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Hi all, I'm a new member at LBT. At first I met Dr. Elliott Goodman in Teaneck, NJ and was ready to have RNY until I saw my mother go through the surgery and I them had second thoughts. I then decided to look into Lap band due to less risks. Somewhat nervous but I'm excited to be able to take a new step in my life. I'm tired of not being able to do many different things with my children and feeling disgusted with myself. I'm glad to be part of this site and hoping to get lots of encouragement. Has anyone been banded by Dr. George Fielding from NY? I just met h…

Okay, I know bands are fickle but this is weird. I am 7 weeks out of surgery and no fill. I have had little or no restriction. I can pretty much eat and drink everything. Since I have been out of the country the last 2 weeks, I have even had my daily coke to kill germs. Suddenly yesterday, I have restriction. For lunch, I barely managed the insides of a chicken salad sandwich (I don't have great food options here) I did have 2 beers at Happy hour that were fine. Then at dinner, I managed a little humus and a little french onion Soup. And that was it. Same thing this morning. I could barely eat 1/2 an omelet. Can this be real? Is it maybe stress? I am …

HI all I could really do with some hints / tips. I had another fill a week ago and everything was going fine - in fact I was having less problems with acid etc than I had before the fill. I wasnt able to eat much and had to really sip fluids. Then yesterday I tried some cereal for breafast (couple of spoonfuls - a day or two after the fill I was able to eat a couple of sausages for breakfast so I thought cereal would be ok) and it stuck immediately. It hung around until about 2pm when I was finally able to drink again. Later in the evening I drunk some orange juice (which has always really helped me) and it made me ill again. I went to sleep gurgling but woke up fee…

Hello June Bandsters- I was just curious where everyone was at- I was banded on 6/15- and have not had a fill yet- I go for a fill at the 4-6 week mark, I'm on mushies- and have been having a few solids- nothing too tough- lathough I must confess I've been eating lettuce- God- I hope it doesn't kill me- I have a hard time eating such small portions and I know sometimes I over do it- even with healthier foods- but I'm sticking to fitday.com and have been at about 1100-1200 calories per day and trying to keep the fat grams low- 20-25 grams. My typical day is 2 hardboiled eggs, tuna or chix salad with lf mayo and 3-4 Water crackers, 1/2 banana or a sf/ff pudding or jel…

I'm not a huge drinker but now that it is getting warmer, I've had a craving for a nice cold glass of beer. I was told by my nutritionist that the carbination will stretch the stomach. I was just wondering if a couple of glasses once in a while would really hurt. Does anyone have any advice?

I had my third fill in April and finally had really good restriction. I also had good weight loss. Now I have started noticing that I can physically eat more food at one sitting. Is this normal after some weight loss? I don't really get hungry all that often, but I still have the voices in my head that tell me I am hungry. I guess my question is .... Is it normal to be able to eat more after some weight loss, even with an adequate fill?

I had my first fill yesterday, It was a tad bit painful at times, I guess it was hard for him to locate the port even though he used floro. I could only imagine how painful it would have been withough the floro. Anyway...... After the first time he filled my band he had me drink the barium (yuck) then follow it with drinking 1/2 a cup of Water which quickly went all over the place. Yes I projectile Vomited all over how embarassing! He said well that was a first you must be really sensetive to this. So he took out some Fluid and all was better. Has anyone else looked like a scene from the exorcist while being filled (thank goodness it was only Barium and water comin…

Since my big day is a week away, I have some "wondering" questions. What do I need to get ready for when I return home from the surgery center? I want to be prepared, so my husband isn't out running around to meet my needs...he has already been doing almost everything while my mom was in the hospital for 5 months, and since her death, he has had even more to do. Any help with your advice so I can be ready is appreciated. I have seen a thread about this somewhere and got some good ideas from that...liquid Gaviscon, liquid Tylenol (is there only children's?), etc. Thanks a bunch, Cindy

Just started yesterday- whenever I try to take a deep breath it feels like I can't, there's pressure at the top of my stomach, I think this is gas but will call the Dr's Office when they open, has anyone had this problem? Sometimes when I am lying flat there is no pain but when sitting it can be pretty bad.

Ugh. I've been feeling physically yuck lately, whether from allergies, the weather, stress or hormonal stuff I don't know. But I guess that doesn't really matter. The fact is I've been comfort-eating and it's backfiring in more ways than one. I'm just writing this down because I know it helps to do so. Problem: I'm eating because I'm bored at work. Summer is a slow time and the phones aren't ringing. I'm constitutionally unable to do only one thing at a time, so when things are this quiet I munch while working to stay occupied. But a small handful of mixed nuts has like 250 calories, so what the hell am I thinking? Solution: DRINK instead of eating. I don't know why I…

I was banded on Monday and was told to start protien shakes on Wednesday, which I did, but I think that they are causing gas. My friend says it's because of the soy and whey in them. Anybody have any tricks to get past this?? I am doing pretty good with everything else, I have to slow down a little bit but other than that I am doing great. I could really go back to work today but I am not going to, I am giving myself the entire week. I never thought that gas pains could hurt so much.

My mom gave me the okay on getting the lap band surgery. She said that I need to find 3 doctors who will say "yes she does need this surgery" and i need to call out insurance company (healthnet) and make sure they cover it. I told her about Dr.Ortiz in Mexico and she said theres no way in hell, even though I feel like he's perfect for the job. So does anyone know of any doctors around the Southern CA area that are AWESOME when it comes to 18 year olds and their parents? Im so excited!

So I can't figure out if I need to get an unfill. Here's how my day is... When I first wake up, no solids at all, not even yogurt. OJ, milk, or Water only. lunch, 5 hours later...mushies only. Soup, mashed potatoes, yogurt etc... dinner, 5 hours later...anything, if I chew it well. meat, veggies, fruit, you name it! I am losing about 2 lbs a week right now, the perfect amount. It's irritating that I can't eat solids until evening but I LOVE being restricted. But I don't want to be excessively tight either. Oh also...no reflux whatsoever thank the Lord!! Thanks guys!!

I have been friends with this girl I meet at work for about 3years know. She is not overweight by my standards at all. When we first started hanging out she always wanted to go out and eat. On the other hand I don't like to eat out because I know that I will just eat again when I get home. Low and behold I gained about 30lbs from the constant eating out over the next 2 years. I started telling her about how unhappy I was about my weight and she would tell me I needed to exercise more and eat better, but she would turn right around and offer me candy and chips and when I would give in and eat it I would tell her that she needs to stop offering me those things. She w…

I am nearly 6 months post op and I have just tried to eat steak and salad, a meal I have reguarly and after about 3 bites I had a lot of pain and then my mouth filled with Water as though I wanted to vomit and I brought up lots of slime. I am very careful when I eat and do chew thoroughly, but I did have a small drink of slightly carbonated water just before the meal (I would normally have tea or coffee) could this be the cause or could it be that I maybe absentmindedly didn't chew properly. It was not a pleasant experience and I think I'll give food a miss tonight!!!. I did have my 2nd fill 3 weeks ago, so I am wonering if the fill has just kicked in maybe. Oh I dont kn…

I heard something the other day that really made some sense. The higher the barometric pressure the tighter your band! Could that be why some days my band feels tighter then others? Some days I can handle meat and some days I can't, some days I can eat more and other days I can't, every day is a different day.... Corgi

Hi all, I seem to have hit a plateau the last few weeks. While I realize that I could eat a bit better and exercise a bit more, I'm not doing much different from right after being banded - and then I was losing. Here's an example of my food intake (from yesterday):- Breakfast - coffee and Water (not really a morning person) lunch - chicken wrap with salad - probably about 6 good bites of it dinner - baby asian greens salad with 1/4 cup diced corned beef (probably about a cup and a half of this in total .. I suck at measuring salad) with lime dill and dijion dressing Desert - one can diet coke I drink water all through out the day, always have. Lately I've fal…

Yesterday, I reached a milestone I was hoping to never reach. I PB'D. All I can say is OH DEAR GAWD! Saturday, I had a really bad sliming incident. Do not, I repeat, do NOT let yourself get too hungry! I had a hair appointment, and they took close to 6 hours for a simply dye job. I was very, very careful when I finally got some lunch, but I see now I should have either had something in my purse or started the meal with milk and let that sit for a while. I didn't get anything stuck, but man, the slimes were terrible! This was my first experience with the slimes. dinner lastnight was a disaster. I ended up BPing for the first time since I was banded in March. I f…

I am really feeling pain! Please write and tell about your experience! AmyK

We went out to dinner a few weeks ago, to a really nice restaurant. Its one that we only go to once a year, or when we have overseas visitors. My favorite meal there is the rib eye - the best piece of meat I've ever tasted. I'm lucky in that, I can still eat steak quite easily, as long as I take tiny bites and chew chew chew. So I ordered the rib eye, even though I knew I wouldn't be able to eat it all. All of the things on the menu were quite large (portion wise), so I would have been in the same boat, regardless. After about five tiny bites and sharing a good chunk of it with my daughter, I was all filled up. The waitress insisted something must have been wrong…

I had my first fill yesterday ( 8 weeks post op ) and it hurt. The Dr had a hard time finding my port and I told him it is easier to locate when I stand up and offered to stand up for the fill. Well he had to route around a bit. that hurt! He was finally able to locate the port and I recv'd 5cc's. I drank the required water before I left the office ( only gurgled a small bit ). he sd to be on fluids for 2 days and then move to soft foods.. I will admit I am very nervous about this and will take it very slow...I do like baby food ( yes, I am weird ) so I think I will start with that....had anyone else had a fill that was painful? Glad I don't have another for 8 weeks :0)! …

My family and I are going to an amusement tomorrow. I need your advice on the cracker thing. Has anyone had problems with crackers or toast during their mushies stage? Please advise!!

I have a question; I'm having surgery on July 26th and currently taking Vitamin supplements to prepare. In addition to a multi-vitamin, I'm taking 150mg of Iron with Vitamin C. I feel a weird ache in my stomach seems to come and go, but mostly is persistant. I don't know if it's related to the vitamin regimen but thought I'd ask if anyone else experienced the pain. I'm new to posting; so I hope I'm doing it right......

If we can get the loan and the dr approves me, I think I am ready to go with the surgery. There is one thing I know if I don't tell my sister that she will find out some other way, but I am afraid to tell her in fear she will want it done. My sister was anorexic and buliamic and still will do anything to lose weight. I know she wouldn't be qualified to do the surgery but she will want it. I am not telling anyone but you know how the sisterly bond goes you want to tell but I don't want people to know. Thanks in advance for any help and advice you can offer!

I am really looking for some answers to my dilema - please lend any advice - here is my situation.... I was banded in early Feb. 05...to date, I have lost only 24lbs. Most of that was lost when I had a fill that was too tight. I could not eat or drink at all and was vomiting in my sleep. I had a tiny bit taken out and it did make the world of difference. I drink only tea with splenda or crystal light. I eat tiny meals most of the time which usually consists of things like beans, vegetables, salads, cheese, or fish. Sometimes I eat a big salad, but that is all I will have for that day. I'm an active person. I know I am eating at least 80% less than I was pre band. Why a…
