So I find that I can't keep my hands off my jawbone and collarbone. It's as if I have to keep touching them to make sure I can still feel them. And last night, laying in bed...I found ribs and a hip bone! Holy Moly I had forgotten what my bones felt like. Even the bones in my hands and wrist are starting to change. Sometimes I see my knuckles when my hand is on the steering wheel and even they look a little different. I know some of you are feeling the same way, and only you guys would be able to relate, so thanks for listening.

I HAVE FINALLY MADE IT TO ONEDERLAND:thumbup:. For the past few weeks I have played around with 198-201 but now I am officially at 198 and haven't seen a 200+ on my scale in over a week!!! I start my next zumba session on Monday and really look forward to it. I don't post often, but I do look at the board every week to grab some inspiration from all of you. Thank you to everyone on this forum....it has really inspired me to keep moving past the struggles and I know now that I am not the only one going through the glitches. It's amazing if I have a question - someone else has already asked it and many of you respond so I get my answers very quickly. Thanks again for …

So, I'm getting ready for work this morning & kinda got frantic. I tried on one pair of pants - too big. Tried on another pair of pants - too big. Went to the smallest ones I have and thought "whew! this works". Typical morning - rush, rush, rush. Drop the youngest off at daycare & drive into work with my hubby (we work at the same company, same building, same floor - LOL). Thursday are free coffee days in my department, so my hubby always comes by to chat. Yeah right - we all know he wants free coffee. Part of his "charade" is to stop by my desk. He walks in my office & sees me standing up. He's like "What are you wearing? Those clothes …

Well, since the start of this adventure (pre-sleeve weight), I've dropped 40 lbs. For the most part, I feel great! I'm still struggling to maintain my nutrition levels throughout the day, and I'm really looking forward to starting solid foods this weekend, but all things considered, I'm doing great! My weight loss is total; since the sleeve, I've lost 25 lbs (I dropped 15 lbs on the pre-op diet, but probably 10 lbs of that was Water weight, per the surgeon). Can't wait for the big 5-0 (lbs, that is). Oh, and I just bought this to replace my tired old 2001 Magna. More horsepower, better sound, way more off-the-line, and model good looks: View image in gallery…

Hi friends! I don't think I've ever posted since I've had surgery on 3/25. Actually I just haven't been online lately but I rec'd a message requesting an update so here it is. I'm doing well. I'm down 59.5 inches so far and 70 lbs. I'm so flipping happy. However, I don't keep many food items down but I guess that's to be expected but I do have a few things that I just choose to eat more often then others that I can handle better. I'm serving in a wedding in NJ on July 10th. I actually purchased my dress on 2/25 without knowing that I was going to have surgery that soon and of course it's going to have to be taken in. I go for my first fitting on 6/8. Here are the pics. …

Got on the scale this morning and I am exactly 20 pounds down, tomorrow is my 4 week surgiverary! I really do believe in myself and my sleeve! Funny thing, have no internet on my computer so can't track my food like normal for last 2 days and it really bothers me not to have that. I took my daughter to a festival yesterday (she is a tiny miss queen for her county school system so she was volunteering) and we were serving food. I was able to eat some lean beef and a few forks of corn and green Beans. Passed up dessert but had a few bites of Madi's chocolate ice cream. Of course I was afraid I might have sabotaged my diet after that but I am learning that something …

(Haven't had salad, crunchy fruits and veggies yet-following the Cornell post-op diet)I have even been eating fish (I would have told you before the sleeve I hate fish!) I got the panko cod and breaded halibut from costco. I eat the "guts". It totally fills me up. This board has really helped me ALOT! I am almost to goal 5 more lbs. I feel great. Well, I'm now 20 lbs. down from my surgery weight over 3 weeks. That's almost exactly one pound a day. Counting my 15 lbs. from the pre-op diet, that's an astonishing 35 lbs. total. Many, many to go, but I'm really happy! If I could just even out my energy level (I think I'm not eating regularly enough during the day, or perhaps not staying hydrated enough), I'd be the happiest camper there is!

I couldn’t be happier!!! Before surgery I had set my goal to 184 lbs which would have put me just into the “Normal” range on the BMI scale. Honestly, at that time I would have been happy to get down to 200 because I had never been able to do that in my dieting life. I hit that first goal back in October (8 months post-op). I was still comfortably losing at that point so I shifted my goal from weight/BMI to Body Fat Percentage. At that time, my Body Fat was about 17% which is pretty good for a 43 male, but I wanted to do better. I set my new goal to get under 13% BF which is considered “Excellent” on most BF charts. Yesterday I had my most recent Hydrostatic Dunk Test (thi…

Well, Just a little update, as of today I have lost 100.6 pounds and it feels great. I am getting my life back, doing things I have not done in years and looking forward to doing a lot more. I am getting my Open Water Diver's Cert. renewed next month and plan to spend a lot of time underwater this summer. This is something that I loved to do 15 years ago and lost it to over eating. Friends and family are seeing me crawl under vehicles to do the work myself instead of having to ask my son or nephew to do it. Heck I can even get off the ground without having to grab ahold of something to pull myself up. I'm riding my motorcycle more, life is just great. The vertical …

It is costly to get clothes taken up...I use to wear 22/24 and I am down to 16/18 and some 14 depending on the designer. My home was damage in hurricane IKE and I had to buy a whole new wardrobe. I feel "it so hard to say goodbye to yesterday". So, what have learned thus far: ~ I have a normal relationship with food ~ My mind, body and soul are finally starting to sync up in unison ~ I truly do not feel like I'm dieting ~ It's okay to have a bad day ~ Life will go on even if I eat way too many cheesy poofs ~ Food is even more delicious since I actually slow down to eat instead of inhaling my meals ~ I no longer feel like I have to be the funny, loud fat girl for people to like me. Ok where do I begin if I did not have to pay bills and just could work out all day I could drop the weight like that too! Then comes the lifestyle change of life that a successful journey has they all gain a lot of weight back because unless you are a personal trainer or too rich you don't have to work its not realistic. Second a lot of the girls on there was wearing some type of corsit the way their boobs was sticking out ove the slim abs and curves that does not help uneducated people who watch the show. Have a big night at my job and I have to dress up. I shopped at Lane Bryant a while back and was in the 16W range. This time I went to Talbots where I always always for years and years and years wear WOMEN's Petite - ALWAYS. I was getting up to 18/20WP before surgery which was a lot of fabric. But just looking at even the 14WP I was like, ummmm, no this won't work they are so big and kinda loose. I mean if it was in my closet I could wear it, but it wasn't flattering. So I had to venture back out to the floor and go into the Petite Dept - the REGULAR Petite Dept, that is, and found some 14P and 16P that fit like a glove, of course buying as snug as possible. It …

Well, I'm below 300 lbs (just barely, but still!) for the first time in ten years. 299.8 today (the scale flashed through 300.1 to get to 299.8, but it stabilized on 299.8, so I'm sticking with it!) That's a great place to be in itself, and it also means I've lost just over 30 lbs since this saga started in mid-April. I'm definitely in the initial 2-4 week stall, since my weight loss has definitely plateaued. I'm doing all the things I should be doing -- calories are 600-800/day, getting >80 g protein/day, 60-80 oz H2O/day, exercising, etc. -- but the weight is just a trickle right now. Still, I know that it's just a temporary phase and the weight will start comi…

I was getting cabin fever and needed to just come in to the office and get some things done so I came in and of course the scale in our gym was taunting me so I went and weighed myself, reluctantly because my size 14 work pants do not feel much different today as they did about 2 weeks ago when I wore them pre-op. 26. Hi my name is Dawn. I have been struggling with my weight since my early 20's when I became pregnant with my first child. After that my weight just kept getting heavier and heavier. I tried every diet you could imagine. Sure it worked for a few months and then I would spiral out of control and gain all of my weight back and then some. In 2001 I had open heart surgery for an Aortic Aneurysm. They also replaced my valve. At the time I had a pigs valve which only lasts for about 10 years. I chose this because I really didn't want to take blood thinner for the rest of my life because I was only 34. So soon I will need another open heart surgery. So my cardiologist told me th…

  28. I was cleaning out my closet yet again. Somehow, I stumbled across this pair of my old work slacks. I thought I had gotten rid of all my pre-op clothes, and needed to weed out the 10s and 12s. To my surprise, I found these and thought I would share. I was trying to organize the shelf in my closet and these were tucked back behind a box. My previous size 24W pants the standard black slacks. Current size 4/6 depending on brand and cut of jeans. In most dress slacks, I'm a solid 5 for juniors, and 6 for misses. Sizing these days is so off, and there is no standard. But, I love being below a 10 these days. " Look ma, I have ribs" LOL:001_tongue:

Hey all, I got on the scale tonight to find I'm down 42 pounds from the day I started my pre-op diet on 3/16! I almost can't believe it! Tomorrow will be 6 weeks post-op for me and I have not one regret on getting this surgery. Compared to all of the diets I've tried and failed on in the past, the last 6 weeks with the sleeve have been so easy! I finally feel like a normal person who doesn't think about food all of the time. I have been very diligent on tracking every calorie, carb, and gram of Protein since surgery, but I've been so-so with exercising. My goal for the next 6 weeks is to work out six days a week so I can keep this downward scale momentum going!

This was the best decision I've ever made. For those of you thinking about the surgery, it is a wonderful TOOL. I do work out 6 days a week but now i really look forward to that. I still try to really limit carbs because they settle very well for me. I probably will still try and loose another 5 pounds or so just to give myself some wiggle room. Everything is going great. 9 days post op, my PCP took me off of both of my blood pressure pills. I couldn't believe the change overnight. One day, my bp was great with the meds and the next day my bp was 99/66 after taking my meds. It also appears that my diabetes (diagnosed 12/09) is gone. I am still in the full liquids stage for about another 10 days and that is going well. Nothing has bothered my sleeve so far. I have tried a few different blended soups and they are really good. I started walking a few days ago and will continue to step up the distance over the next few days to get up to 3 miles a day or so. As always, thanks to everyone here for all I have learned.

My surgury with Dr. Aceves in Mexicalli on April 10th went so well that my step-Mom decided to go for it, so we stayed 3 more days while she was sleeved as well :biggrin2:. I can't hardly believe that it will be 4 weeks tomorrow since I had surgery (3/22). I don't post often but lurk daily and learn lots from everyone so thank you very much. But I did want to share my experience for the past 4 weeks for newbies since when I was doing my research this is the kind of info I was looking for. I have to say it has been fairly easy considering that I left 3/4ths of my stomach in Mexico! I have been lucky that I have had no problems. Recovery was pretty good - no pain from the surgery, just some soreness on my left side where the drain had been. I was nauseated the first night but medication helped. I had no problem traveling back from Mexic…

Hello everyone! My surgery is scheduled for 5/24/2010 Anyways, I really want to start a blog about my journey. I want the blog to be accessible to family and friends... not just other VSG patients. Are there any websites that you guys recommend? I have never blogged before. Do any of you have blogs that I can look at? Thanks for any tips in advance  And... I just realized I posted this in the wrong place!! I'm sorry!

  49. In the 20 months since my LAP-BAND®® surgery, I've lost 116 lbs. I went from size 24 to 12. It's hard to realize your success, because in the mirror, you always see the flaws. My wakeup was when I was able to wear my husband's clothes. I couldn't believe his jeans fit me! And then they were too big. It was a great feeling! Unfortunately, I've started having some complications. My gall bladder had to be removed, and my band had slipped during the period of time that I was sick with gall stones. So my band is now repositioned and completely unfilled. I just hope this doesn't indicate a turning point in the wrong direction! But today - I feel like a success story!

I don't know if this is the right place for this. But I'm just so happy I could cry. Im in the 2 - teens for the first time in 3 years! Im just happy I chose to do this. Now don't get me wrong; sometimes I think LORD what the heck have I done to myself. Then I see those that are a lot farther out and realize that it gets easier. I haven't experienced a REAL stall (knock-on-wood). I normally weigh EVERYDAY:scared0: but there are some days (I notice mostly on weekends) that I stay at the same weight for about 24-48 hours or go up and down during that time. I honestly know that if I make it to one-derland I would be ecstatic. I usually low ball myself so that I don'…
