It will be 7 months for me next week. I've lost 90lbs so far and have hit the target my doctor had set for complete weight loss after a full year. So I'm way ahead of his schedule and only 5 pounds from the goal of 200 I had set for myself before this all began. I think I'll be revising my goal to be more aggressive and see if I can get down to 185. I truly never thought this possible before. Ever being below 200 again would have been a laughable thought. I've had a couple of minor stalls along the way. One major stall that lasted for almost 2 months. But in the last 2 months I've really stepped up my exercise regimen. I'm working out like crazy. Twice a day wa…

It has been a great morning. I got dressed to go to work this morning for the first time since my surgery and everything felt a little big, including my shoes! Perhaps some of it is psychological, but, hey, I'll take it. I was also thrilled this morning that I found a Protein shake that I can tolerate very well. Isopure Low Carb Dutch chocolate. I was really struggling with trying to get my protein in this weekend, so I am happy have found a shake that will work for me. 50g of protein per 12 oz (2 scoops of powder) which sounds great to me. All in all, a very good morning! Brian:biggrin0:

  5. Officially have lost 51 pounds since my revision surgery and am now at 250 which is the first major goal I set for myself. Today I am wearing a dress in a size 18 and in 2007 I was wearing a 26. I've now offiically lost the 100 pounds I gained during my marriage and divorce....it's freakin' fantastic to officially have let that weight GO GO GO!! I am grateful today for how much better I feel. My decision to do a band to sleeve revision in April has changed my life in so many ways already. My body and my spirit are lighter. In late Feb of this year I was sitting at my desk (where I am now) at my office at 7 :30 at night sobbing my heart out. I was over 300 pounds again…

I LUUUUVVVV MY SLEEVE!! :001_tt1: So I went to my 8 wk. appt. 2 weeks ago & I had lost a total of 32 lbs.! Sounds good right?? Well the first 30 pounds pretty much happened in the first month. So I had only lost 2 pounds the second month. So after a big lecture my doctor told me I wasn't eating enough foods. I was shocked!...not enough foods. My intake has been 600-800 cal/day. He instructed me to eat more Protein to uptake my caloires so I did. Within a week I had lost 4 more pounds! It was hard to get it all in because I am pretty full all day. What's interesting is my tale tale sign that I wasnt eating enough protein....I was getting hungry...no FAMISHED every …

I am just a few days past my 2 year post op mark and the transformation I have made has been incredible. I lost 135 lbs in the first 10 months and have easily kept that off for the past 14 months. I went from being a total couch potato to being an avid hiker, hiking almost every day (even in the Phx summer heat). I went from size 26/28 to size 6 and some size 4. I have a different relationship with food and myself and for the first time in my life I eat like a normal person (whatever that is). I eat average sized portions, I get full faster, I stay full longer. I do not count calories or measure my food. I am mindful of carbs (average around 100 gms per day) and abo…

I am frustrated today. Feels like things are going So slowly... I am trying to be patient and appreciate how far I have come, but some days are hard.... My surgery date was 3/16/10. Since then I have lost 47 lbs, but in the last seven weeks I have only lost 5 lbs. I have increased my excercise and trying to really watch what I eat, but it really has not made a difference. Does anyone have any advice...? Is this normal to have such a long stall this early on? Could this be it? I am delighted to lose this much, and with a brave face have been saying that if this is all I lose, it will be ok. I don't really mean it though. I was hoping for a little more... I will say tha…

I'm a little over 8 months out (started at BMI 36 before my VSG, having previously dieted down from BMI 46 and am now at BMI 23.8) and starting to try to taper off the weight loss. I've been eating a little more the past month, 1500 calories or so per day, and have still lost the same 3-4 pounds as the previous month. Weight loss was very rapid at the beginning and is now clearly tapering off. I've read about others continuing to lose weight even when increasing calories gradually so I was prepared for this, and still want to lose 10 pounds or so. I can't believe how well everything has gone! I'm mostly wondering about a couple of things: I do have some excess skin, how…

Sorry, I know it's been done, but I can't believe I finally get to say those words. After a very long and disouraging stall, I'm finally back on the losing track again and today the scale actually said 199! I have a sliding scale like at the doctor's office, and I had to move to the 150 marker when I got on the scale today and I was shocked. There, thanks for letting me boast, and I am so happy to join the club! I love my sleeve!

  15. So today I stepped on the scale and I am one pound from having lost 50 pounds since my surgery. I didn't have any pre-op weight loss so this 50 pounds has been since April 9 when I had my surgery in Mexicali. In 2007 I weighed 350 pounds so I am one pound away from having lost 100 pounds since then....I lost and kept off 50 with my lapband and although I had major problems with my band....I am grateful for that 50 pounds lost and gone. This is a tipping point for me on many levels...I feel like I am moving into a new physical and emotional place and I just wanted to acknowledge this place. I haven't been below 250 pounds in at least 10 years and can't remember the la…

It was a very difficult decision for me to have VSG. I didn't qualify for insurance to pay b/c my BMI wasn't high enough & I didn't have enough severe comorbidities. Once I finally decided that I did want to go ahead & self pay for the VSG, I started my research for a reputable, qualified surgeon at a price I could afford. Well, I set a goal to be at 150 by this Sunday when I left for vacation and I am at 150.1, I would say close enough! To date I have lost 30.5 pounds and this coming Monday will be 9 weeks post op. I continue to follow low carb, low fat, high Protein and it is working for me. Weight loss is slow and steady and I am fine with that. My Mom, who has not seen me since we said goodbye in the DFW airport when she went home and I still had to fly back to Dulles after surgery, has been asking me to send her pictures of my progress but I told her she will have to wait until I see her in Orlando on Monday! I couldn't even walk upstairs to tuck my kids in without being short of breath and having to stop half way up and I'm only 27!!! I am an RN and work 12 hour shifts on my feet, so the extra weight was not my friend. I developed really bad edema to my feet and legs (I was taking 60mg Lasix three times a day and it wasn't helping!). I was using a CPAP for my sleep apnea and was hypertensive and my Dr kept warning me about my cardio risk b/c our my family hx. I also have PCOS and insulin resistance. Fun Fun, …

At the moment, I am still tremendously frustrated with his surgical coordinator because she is almost impossible to speak with and I still have some questions for her, but I am thinking positively and hoping for the best! I'm nervous, but I know that is natural, so I'll just have to get through the next week or so and then on to my new life! Brian

Yesterday made 2 months since I had my surgery. As of this morning I'm down 34 lbs since surgery and 58 lbs since I started this journey back in the middle of March. I lost 20 lbs the first month and 14 the 2nd month. I was really hoping for 20 the 2nd month also but it just wasn't to be! At 1 month out I took measurements and I had lost 24.5 inches at that point. At 2 months out I've lost an additional 6.25 inches for a grand total of 30.75 inches. I love my sleeve and have had NO regrets whatsoever. There's definitely a learning curve and one thing I have to learn is to slow down when eating and learn where the overfull line is so I'll quit crossing it. Being overfull…

For those who have been following us here is the update on my husband Ian. His one month was yesterday (July 3rd 2010.) He is down 26 lbs and has lost 23 inches off his body. Here are his 1 month progress photos. He may not have lost as many pounds as I did the first month but he was very close in inches! I can definitely see his body has changed. Here is my favorite comparison. This is me and him together before surgery at a family member's birthday party... compared to now. The new photo was taken last night at a family BBQ.

I'm proud of myself! Just thought I'd share the great news. I still want to lose more and my surgeon believes I can make my goal of weighing 150 lbs.

Maybe this thread would be better posted elsewhere but I wasn't sure where to post it. Is anyone 5 years out from surgery or even 3 or 4? I'm sure there are people who have had this surgery that many years ago but maybe they aren't on the forum anymore. 27. During a very challenging time in my life (my marriage) I managed to gain 100 pounds. This morning on the scale I dipped into below the 260's for the first time. I am 7 pounds away from releasing the weight I gained during the very dark time in my life. I am working with a therapist and continuing to pay attention to the emotional effect of losing this weight. I still have a long way to go after this weight is released but it is a meaningful goal to me. I don't spend my days looking back, but the 40+ pounds I've lost since my band to sleeve revision has cleared away some of the physical and emotional blocks that has kept me from moving forward. Hello all, Well my body has finally realized that something is different now. There were a few weeks where it seemed like I was going to lose so slowly. My body has finally accepted that something is different with how I eat and I am dropping weight more quickly. I do my official weigh-ins on mondays but I'm not gonna lie, I weigh myself throughout the week as well. Maybe one day I will no longer be a slave to the scale. We'll see. I put on a tshirt yesterday that is usually a little snug and when I looked in the mirror yesterday I was like hey, its not sticking to my tummy, its actually a little loose. I am so excited and happy. My weight was becoming an issue in…

As of Saturday's weigh-in, my BMI is 24.9. I'm less than 20 pounds from my goal of a 21.8 BMI. I can hardly believe it. In less than 17 weeks, I have gone from OBESE to NORMAL. How is that possible?!?!?!?!? That NEVER, NEVER, NEVER would have happened without this surgery. Yahoo!!! Thanks to everyone for your kind words, thoughts and encouragement. I posted on my blog this week regarding how I passed the Jazzercise Instructor Audition on Thursday and was basically on cloud nine for a couple of days. I'm very proud of that accomplishment, but I'm even more proud of yesterday. After the initial audition we had a day of seminars and then a day of movement technique/critique. Yesterday was the movement technique day and I can say that I've never worked out so hard in all of my life, BUT it was also one of my proudest days too. It was an 8 hour day with about 5 or so hours spent moving at a high intensity...skipping, jumping, lunging, etc. and even weights and ab work thrown in there for fun:-) I sweat through 3 …

Finally got down 100 pounds today. This is a big moment. I just wish I felt better. My Piraformis muscle on my left buttock has been bothering me for a month. Looks like I'm going to have to have botox injected into the muscle to paralyze it. Chiropractor says it's because I lost the weight so quickly. Didn't seem quick to me......9.5 months. Anybody have this issue with their piraformis muscle cramping up due to weight loss and sitting? Please let me know how you resolved it.

I am three months out. Part of me feels like this has been my life forever, and part of me still feels like it is brand new. Having seriously unhealthy habits has been a process of learning, but things I never thought I could do mentally and physically are becoming easier day by day. In three months I have reclaimed parts of my life and that is thrilling to me. Two weeks ago I had a last minute chance to head to California w/my boyfriend and his family. My time there was not food focused, I enjoyed what I ate and even more so enjoyed walking (what?) I enjoyed a day of walking around Universal Studios and mid way realized I wasn't sweaty and feeling icky, and my feet did…

I thought I'd post a couple of pics to show the difference, one is from December 2007 (around 235 lbs; size 20 pant, 1X top in picture) and the other is from this year December 2009 (156.5 lbs; size 10 pant, Small top in picture).

However, I just went upstairs to get dressed for an open house I am hosting as a Real Estate agent this afternoon. So tonight I bought two suits at Macy's....both are size 18. I haven't been in a suit that started in a "1" in over 10 years. Yes...I bought them in the plus size department but I've gone from a 3x to a 1x since I had my surgery in April. Over the weekend I was the emcee for a fundraiser /dance and haven't seen some of the folks for over a year. Last year at this time I was over 300 pounds so it was nice to dance and feel my body move so much easier. I got lots of nice compliments...mostly that I looked like I was feeling good....and the truth is ...I am. I am a very grateful gal tonight.

  44. Hi all... Just wanted to share a quick update on my progress... Sleeved February 1 by Dr. Aceves, 210 day of surgery, 165 today (June 1). Went in for my 3 month post surgery checkup with Dr. A last Friday, they did the upper GI swallow, checked for Reflux, etc, all looks great. No hernias, no stretching, everything 100%! Got my labs back today, and everything came through with bells on! My hemoglobin and Iron are even UP since my surgery, which some of you may know I've had problems with. All-in-all, I'm just sooooooo happy with my results and how I look and feel right now. YAHOO to the sleeve! Hope you're all doing GREAT! xxoo

  47. I am planning on having VSG with Dr. Alvarez. I have talked to a couple of his patients and got very good feedback. I just wanted to reach out to more of his patients on here to see what their experiences were like. Thanks so much.

Then I had my port put back in. It was one of the scariest things I had ever gone through but it was all worth it…
