I have not weighed this little since Jr High (even then I think I was over 200)!!! I did it, I made it to my goal weight! The first time EVER in my life that I actually have reached a goal weight I've set...never with Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Bootcamp and dieting, weight loss dvd's, etc., but the sleeve actually was the tool for me. I feel like one of those silly informercials when I'm sharing with people about my success, "if I can do it, then anybody can do it." I want to thank all the people I've "met" through this site, because the support I've received here and continue to receive has been invaluable. I LOVE MY SLEEVE :001_tongue:

My surgery is complete and I am back home today. The first day was a lot of nausea - I threw up quite a bit of brown stuff which I guess was bleeding from the surgery. I had a lot of trouble with my veins so I got a lot of sticks. I think I was a bit dehydrated My surgeon was Terry Scarborough in Houston, TX. He seems confident that all went well. He is a quiet man. He said the signs of a leak are fever, severe abdominal pain, and something else (?). He said he only had one leak and they were able to treat it with antibiotics. I will say this. People said this is easier than a C-section. Okay, that is NOT true. This surgery feels much more major. I s…

I have lost 102 pounds since May 1, 2009! I have been on a very frustrating plateau since a little after Christmas. I also just had to have an unfill due to acid reflux issues but Feb. 2nd I'll be getting filled again and be back on the loosers bench once again! I'm really looking forward to it! 36 more pounds to go!

I had a friend send me this "before" picture, and thought I would share with everyone. This is from sometime in the spring of 2007. I don't recognize myself in this picture, and am just kind of in shock with this comparison. For all those considering this surgery, here's proof it works. For those struggling, please don't give up. For those who remember my update post...I had to go see my PCP to get a new scrip. for crushable BP meds. I brought all of my papers & x-rays from Dr. Aceves to discuss them with her (she knew I was having VSG done). She and I went over it all (she was interested in the post op leak test pictures...she said it really is like a "banana stomach"! :laugh0:). She said Dr. A's surgery report looked great & it appears that I had great care & a great experience. She checked my incision sites & confirmed that they look like they are healing well. I was feeling pretty good! :thumbup1: Then my BP reading...128/80! I've never had a reading that good in a doct…

And if I see a week that I haven't lost (I haven't gain either) I am happy - I know staying positive will help with the end results. We are going to Disneyland in four weeks, it will be my son's first trip there and I am actually looking forward to going as I will be able to fit comfortably in the rides!!! Down 100 lbs finally! It has been over two years, but I finally did it! I would have done it sooner, but last year I had a complete unfill due to cancer treatments.......and I put some pounds back on! One year cancer free, two years weight free! Life is good! I feel amazing and love all the comments I get about how wonderful I look. It is possible for the band to work. After 2 years I can finally say that I love my band and wouldn't change it for the world.

I had to do a 14 hour fast, and was kind of worried to be honest. But, my labs were absolutely spectacular. My Vitamin D, and D3, Iron, CBC, Folic acid, thyroid panel, and Chem 20 were spectacular. The only one we're waiting on is my B12 results, and they'll be in about a week. I don't foresee any problems with my B12 since I take 500% of the daily value that's recommended. My cholesterol is so normal. Even my good cholesterol went up which is an area I struggled with pre-op. So, for hitt…

My journey began about a year and a half ago. I had seen several people I work with have the gastric bypass and was always scared of the complications and results. I had heard about the lapband and decided to research it. After spending several weeks researching it I bit the bullet and made an appointment for an information class. After the class I was torn between the gastric bypass and lapband. I once again researched the band and told myself why I was choosing it in the first place. I filled out my paperwork and turned it in. Soon I was approved through insurance and my journey really began. On September 28, 2007 I had surgery and have never looked back since. It i…

I have finally broken my 12 day stall (sitting at 150 lbs.) and this morning weighed in at 149.5 pounds. This puts my bmi officially in the normal range (barely, but I'll take it) :thumbup1: I am just so happy. I've been normal on the scale at Jazzercise and even hit my goal weight on the Wii Fit scale, but my bathroom scale is the one I've been waiting on...the one that "counts" and it's finally there too. Thank you to everyone on this site for their support, words of encouragement, and friendship. VSG was 7-7-09 with Dr. Aceves. I started at 201, 5'4. About two weeks ago, I had my gallbladder removed as I had many stones & was having some bad attacks. I am feeling much better from that! I'm glad that sucker is gone & will not be giving me anymore trouble. I was 2 lbs away from my goal (135 lbs) before I had the gallbladder surgery. I put on about 4-5 lbs from the surgery (fluids & swelling). It was dissheartening to be so close to my goal & then see the s…

Just very pleased with my results!!!! Almost 9 months since my surgery and I'm just very happy and excited. Over 70 pounds lost! Still more to go but now it's the downhill slide. I really don't even feel that I am on a diet. I eat almost everything but I guess I'm at the "sweet spot" that everyone talks about. It takes very little to fill me up and I am satisfied. I'm at 6.5cc fill and I'm sure in a couple more months I'll need a little more. Best thing I ever did!!!

Cross posted from my blog. A bit of back story. When John and I met, I was at my heaviest between 265-270. That meant I weighed more than 100 pounds more than he did, and he didn't care. He loved me regardless of my pant size, or what the scale read. I was never one to hide my weight from him even when we were just dating. I wasn't happy at that weight, but I was happy that he loved me for me. Today, I now weigh about 30lbs less than he does. When he deployed mid-March, I still weighed 100lbs more than he did. He worked out, strength training mainly, and bulked up a bit. I dropped a bunch of weight, and it's like a new found adventure for us. For the first ti…

Almost three years ago I consulted a surgeon in my area regarding this procedure. He told me that based on my age and lifestyle, he felt I would see immediate success but then down the road after only a short while I would regain my weight. I was 330 lbs when he and I had that conversation. I had the surgery and the band was put in. In the first few weeks I had a dramatic drop in weight being limited to liquid and blended foods etc while I healed. Taking advantage of the situation I started to get back in the gym. (Which I had a habit of from my youth, was VERY fit once). Needless to say I am now 220 lbs, at 6 feet (Yes I am a guy), I play soccer again weekly in a…

One day during the summer of 2008 I was talking to a friend that has RnY surgery. I told her if I could have surgery then it would be LAP-BAND®®. I had researched options and decided that it would be the best for me. She told me that only thing she ever regretted was that she didn't do it sooner. I hate regrets and that was when I decided that I didn't want to look back and say that I should have done this when I was in my 30's. It was months later that talked to my husband about LAP-BAND®® again. Other times he had brushed off the idea. He has always told me that he thinks I am beautiful. He would never comment against my weight. One night after being intimate...and em…

  28. I'm sorry I don't have a before picture, will put one on later. In the current picture, I'm the one in the purple. I just wanted to say for anyone feeling that it isn't working; it will trust me. I live in Chicago,IL and found a surgeon in Detroit that would do it for about $7,000 less than Illinois. That was a hassle going back and forth to Detroit for fills. I had a program that said that I would get fills for free for one year. So stupidly I went back and forth to Detroit for about 5 months after surgery to get fills. I finally found a fill doctor in Chicago that was only $80 per fill. So now it's been almost two years and I am down 170 lbs. I started at a size 30/32 a…

Today marks an amazing day in my journey to a healthier, happier, and more active life. I'm below goal:thumbup1: ! ! ! I have been eating more every day, and I'm not sure how this all works, but here I am today at 149. I bought a size 12 pants and they are too big. My 14's were getting a little big so I figured a 12 would be just perfect. I'm taking them back to exchange them for 10's which I know I won't be able to get into completely comfortably. I'm about 5 days short of my 7 month post-op mark. I really can't believe I'm at goal. Now here's to maintaining ! ! ! Cheers :001_wub:I love my sleeve

Ok, I've been a Kohl's shopper for years. You know those discount coupons you get every month...the ones that you peel and are either 15, 20 or 30% off your entire purchase? Well I ALWAYS get 15%. It's kind of a joke with my daughter, who always manages 30%. Yesterday I got my first 30% off so of course I had to go shopping! Off I went, collected jeans, slacks, and tops to try on. Everything was too big! I had to buy size 4 jeans and slacks! Yes...I said 4! I never wore a 4 before, not even as a teenager. OMG! I called my daughter and we cried tears of joy! I ended up just buying a few things, but what an experience! Pictures coming soon.

It's so hard for me to believe that I have lost all of the weight because it happened so fast. Granted, I did hire a personal trainer for the first 3 months after surgery and was VERY strict with my diet (I always ate a minimum of 60grams of protein everyday and kept a journal). I now run over 3 miles every day and bike to work, the gym, and friend's houses. I am extremely active, but in my mind I am still overweight- it is crazy! I don't think I'm fat when I look in the mirror, but when I think about myself in my mind I just can't see anyone but who I was for so long. I was too scared to wear a bikini at the beach a week ago (where my current pic was taken) even though I…

Im not sure if its the same for everyone but the first 2 days were like torture. Apparently the CO2 they pump you up with for laprascopic surgery, has a very slow exit strategy! I had to return a skirt I had ordered today as it was miles too big!!! I couldn't believe it and was certain that I was still in a UK size 18. I didn't have the confidence to order a 16 as the size 18 jeans I wear every day don't seem that big on me. Anyway it has gone back and a 16 is now on order. I haven't lost any more weight lately but I definitely seem to be losing inches as a couple of people have commented on my weight-loss recently. It's really great to be able to wear lovely clothes again and not the tents that were 'comfy' xxxxxxxxxxxx

Well, yesterday marked my 6 month surgeriversary for my band to sleeve revision. I have lost a total of 103 pounds as of June 3rd. I have dropped from a size 22-24W to a regular 14 or 15 in juniors. From a 26/28 (4X) blouse/shirt to a Medium blouse/shirt. Sometimes a large depending on the cut of the shirt. My shoe size shrunk from a 8W to a normal 7-7.5 My legs (thighs mainly) no longer go numb after extensive time on my feet. I can see all the bones in my feet, and ankles. Above all of the physical changes, my outlook on life is even more positive, and upbeat. I no longer feel like the "fattest" person in the group. I can walk around the ma…

:thumbup:Hi all! I've been missing in action for a while. Just wanted to update. I'm about 3 months and 1 week out. I've now lost 67 lbs. Started at 250 now at 183. Finally bought a size 14 this weekend. Haven't seen that in about 15 years. It hasn't been easy, I've worked my tail off, but I know I could never had done this without the sleeve. I've worked this hard many times before only to loose 5 lbs and regain 8 after a "bad" weekend. So, no regrets! My biggest problem now is controlling my shopping addiction.

So, I started my weight loss surgery journey last October when I had the dreaded lapband placed. As of today, I've lost a total of 100 pounds. I lost weight initially with the band, but gained some back when I lost restriction and complications started. I've officially lost 93 pounds since revising to the vertical sleeve gastrectomy, and a total weight loss of 100 pounds today. What an amazing life-changing experience this has all been ! ! ! I haven't been this weight since probably my sophomore year in high school. I'm more active, and definitely happier with my relationship with food. I am in more control now than I have ever been. People ask me "don't you mis…
