  1. I just posted a new profile photo, go check it out!!!
  2. Thank you!!! This post has been awhile so I've lost even more. I'll have to post a new photo too. Right now I only have 23 pounds to go and these have been the most stubborn. I'm feeling and looking good and I love the clothes and how sexy they fit, so these last few pounds are harder because I'm very happy even where I'm at now. They will go away in a few months slowly but I'm still very pleased with the results of the LAP-BAND®. Keep in touch!
  3. Has anyone been getting UTI's after LapBand. I'm 14 months past my surgery and I am on my 3rd one. I was never a big drinker of Water and did really well with the water intake but ended up getting a UTI 8 months after surgery. I took the meds and even had a sonogram which was normal. I was urinating blood during these. That cleared up and now I had it again in mid-September and now again 3 weeks later. All these times I have been totally stressed out and probably not drinking enough. The doctor prescribed both time liquid antibotics. The first time was Bactrim, which worked and the second Cephalexin which must not have worked good enough. A couple of years ago I had Strep throat on and off again for 4 months. I ended up on 3 types of antibiotics before it went away for good. Maybe I have built up an immunity to these antibiotics, especially the last one. Good news....I'm down 85 pounds with only 30 to go!!!
  4. Why do you think you are doing something wrong? My surgeon said that I was way above the norm with my weight loss. The average Lap-Bander should lose 40% of their overall excess of weight in one year. Example: If you are 100 pounds over weight, then 40 pounds is totally normal in one year. If you aren't doing that, then you need to be educated in your eating habits. I don't eat dough or breads and was never a sweet eater, basically carbs was my mainstay. That's way it worked for me. I totally watch high calorie "slider" foods. I try to eat normal foods, which on some days give me problems. I drink a lot of buttermilk and eat cheese. These are my favorite foods and they are good for you. They are also filling and full of Protein. I also Jazzersized and did weight training extensively the first six months. It hurt and was hard at first but I did what I could and now I'm good at it. Not bad for a 53 year that had given up! Keep working on it! Diane
  5. Me too!!! A little over 10 months have passed and down 75 pounds. Around 40 to go!!! (my ticker needs updated) I am very active, have restriction and watch intake. I must be at a plateau, again. I have just been hovering according to the scale. I have noticed I have gone down a size in jeans, which is actually better than that damn number!!! It has really slowed down and I just want it done and over with!!! Possible buddy canidate!! Diane
  6. Just very pleased with my results!!!! Almost 9 months since my surgery and I'm just very happy and excited. Over 70 pounds lost! Still more to go but now it's the downhill slide. I really don't even feel that I am on a diet. I eat almost everything but I guess I'm at the "sweet spot" that everyone talks about. It takes very little to fill me up and I am satisfied. I'm at 6.5cc fill and I'm sure in a couple more months I'll need a little more. Best thing I ever did!!!
  7. Yes!!!! It is best thing I ever did, I just wish I would have done it sooner. I was a big carb eater, not a sweet eater at all, so it really worked wonders with me. I eat almost everything I did before, just small amounts. I don't even think the way I used to think about food. I love exersize now, weight training, Zumba and Jazzersize. I can bend, jump and even run now!!! I couldn't even move out of my own way before! It's great. I still have 49 pounds to go, but it will go in time. I've lost 66 pounds so far (my ticker below needs updated) I do make frequent trips to the Goodwill, taking back clothes I bought there 2 months before and getting smaller ones. It's awesome!!
  8. Ok, I'm in on this too!!! My Easter Challenge: Start: 202 End: 190 Goal -12lbs
  9. I have been at a plateau for a couple of weeks, losing inches but little weight loss. I am really tring to be good for the holiday's. I have a fill on January 12th and hope to show a good weight loss! 10. I'm passed surgery 111 days and I had my third fill on November 17th (9 days ago) taking me to 5cc. The second one was too tight and I couldn't swallow liquids, so they took it down about 6 weeks ago. Now I'm back up to the same, with less problems but more questions. I can't eat solids in the morning, only liquids and yogurts. lunch I can eat thick Soups. dinner some solid wet foods. I'm not a burper, nor someone that vomits. So, when I eat something too dry, etc. I have that really bad chest pain which I lay down and get into a yoga position while massaging my lower stomach, this seems to ease it. My issues are gas and a bit of nausa. Like I said I don't burp, I gurgle. So, by the end of the day, I am miserable with gas pains though out my stomach, back and lower intestines. I pass gas terribly, which releases it. The pains move around all day. My port area is a little sore too. I have been sneezing a lot and slipped and fell on my butt a day before my fill so I don't know if I pulled something or not. The only other thing that about 2.5 inches around my port site is real lumpy, but I guess that is normal since the doctor would have been poking around that area for the fill and he didn't say anything then. I have lost almost 50 pounds and things are starting to poke out all over me, like hipbones! Unless, everyone around me has been sick with intestinal flu, even though I'm not throwing up or diaherria, maybe that's what's going on. I called the doctor, but he's in surgery today and I haven't heard back. I just don't feel myself. Any input out there???
  11. This is what I found just right here on LapBand Talk. Cuff volume - the AP small holds 10cc, the AP large holds 14cc
  12. I had a fill on Monday, 5ml total now. Water went down fine with minimal burping. This is the third day now and I can drink and sip thick liquids and ate 1/4 cup of cottage cheese with a little burping. I feel very tight. I tried to eat more solid food, even chewing a lot but got a lot of heavy chest pain. Not real comfortable, I'm hoping it will calm down in a couple of days, if not by next week or I'm getting 1 ml taken out.
  13. Yoga position. I lay on my back and do the bridge position with you feet lifting your butt off of the floor. I massage the lower part of my stomach and allow the gastric juices to flow upwards. It disolves what ever is stuck and sometimes it just pops it out of the stoma, pains go away quickly. Seems to work with me and my surgeon seemed to think it made sense.
  14. My theory is to go lay down. I had a piece of chicken stuck and walked around trying to ease the pain. I finally laid down on the bed for about an hour and the pain started to go away. I think when laying down the digestive juices from your bottom part of your stomach sort of go up into your pouch, thus disolving the stuck item. You have to remember, most of your digestive juices are at the bottom of your stomach, there are less in the pouch just because of gravity!! It only makes sense. Just remember to chew, chew, chew. Getting things stuck will remind you of that.
  15. My surgeon had me on a total liquid diet 10 days prior to surgery. Protein shakes, cream Soups, etc. I dropped a lot of weight right before the surgery.
