Hey Guys I'm now just over two weeks and I have the following points to note: I'm down two sizes already! I went for lunch today and was totally satisfied on about a quarter of a starter portion of prawns and avocado! I'm all of a sudden interested in clothes and shoes again! I've started to wear lipstick again! My spots are clearing up! I splashed out on some posh body firming moisturiser! I no longer have a nap during the day whenever I can! I'm smiling more! And the biggest and most wonderful change of all - I feel at peace :biggrin0: I no longer feel like I am constantly fighting against my urges and cravings. I don't feel like my body and my brain are…

Hi everyone - I'm a newbie and so glad I found you guys. This seems like a friendly and informative forum, so I'm happy to be here reading all the posts I can. I am scheduled for surgery next Wednesday, Oct 6th. Can't wait to begin my journey to a healthy life! I'm a mom to two boys (ages 7 and 11) and a wife to a loving husband for 16 years. I am so lucky to have the support of my entire family (my parents, my in-laws, etc.) I've been on the pre-op liquid diet now for 10 days, only a week to go! That part has not been easy, but truly after the first couple of days I've gotten used to it. I must admit I have plenty of time for errands on my lunch hour now - kickin…

Okay I have tricare prime. My primary care doc referred me for lapband I have a bmi of 35.9 weight of 198 and I am 5.2. I have high blood pressure and prediabetic due to weight. I am not 100 lbs over weight but by surgeon's nurse said I don't qualify under tricare with their strict requirements. Get this I called tricare and they don't have any paperwork on me from this surgeon. In other words they don't even want to put the paperwork in to tricare wtf. I am at my end and I don't know what to do now.

BC/BS denied the procedure and about the time I wrapped my head around that after losing 35 lbs on my own, they came back and approved it!! What a roller coaster. Took me another month to work up the nerve again. Am supposed to start caring for my 2 month old granddaughter the first of November. Do you think I will be up to it? That is my main concern. I have about 60-70 lbs. to lose and hope…

  14. Hi everyone! I just joined this forum today. I have recently been exploring the idea of gastric banding, and I just made a consultation appointment with a bariatric surgeon, who comes highly recommended. These forums are so filled with information (both exciting and scary). It's overwhelming to try to absorb it all. Right now, I'm trying to focus on the initial consultation with the doctor, assessing my comfort level with him and his team, and asking the right questions. Aside from all of the obvious questions about the actual surgical procedure, my biggest question is this: I LOVE food (obviously). How is my life going to be without something I love. Overea…

It's been such a long journey getting to this moment that I almost can't believe it's really going to happen. I've always been overweight, since I was a child, and have done the yo-yo dieting that most of us have over the years. But then I developed sleep apnea and high blood pressure, and I knew that something had to change. I hoped to have weight loss surgery, but my primary doctor wasn't comfortable with the idea. Finally, about six months ago, when blood work showed that I'm also pre-diabetic, she decided to refer me for the lap band. I made an appointment with the surgeon an…

I went in for my first adjustment on Sept. 15 and found out my port had flipped. I had surgery for port revision yesterday. I will hopefully have my first fill in 2 weeks. I went to the doctor today and I was told that my surgery will be on the 12th of this month. It has been a very long journey. I started off with the band back in Aug of 08 and in April of 09 It all went downhill. I had a fill done and I guess it was to much and I had left for vacation the next day and ended up in the ER after spending 3days vomiting. At that time they feel my band may have slipped but not enough to see it.... From that point on everytime I got a fill I eithier had to have the Fluid removed or I had eneded up vomiting the whole time. After every test under the sun my doctor finally gave me the option to eithier redo the band, do gastric bypass or do the sl…

You could call me a newbie for sure considering I'm only 7 hours post-op. My surgeon said I took well to the procedure and I was doing amazing well and that it was up to me whether I did or didn't want to stay in the hospital. I wanted to stay for a little but, just not over night. So, after a second round of pain killers, some "food" and a walk down the hallway to make sure I was stable I was able to be discharged. I'm home now and resting up, continuing with my 30cc of fluid per 15 minutes minus the times I'm dozing off but so far so good. :smile2:

Once I got home I recovered quickly. In my first week I lost 20 lbs! I was elated...then nothing. At my one month check up, I had lost 5 more lbs.
