Hi my name is Carmen..here's my story.   I started the lap band journey back in approximately June of 2009 I went to the class and met with the surgeon who told me I had to meet a goal of 280 to be able to have the surgery, I was 310 at the time.  Well i took it all under consideration and kind of put it to the back of my mind and forgot about it for a year. I was working out and "trying" to watch what I ate most days and would lose a few pounds and then gain a few pounds back...i went back and forth between 280 and about 290 for months and months.  I was doing Zumba classes (dance excercise) about 4 times a week and I was really enjoying them but the weight wasn't coming off and my knees were killing me!  One day after watching all these thin ladies strut their stuff in the zumba class (by the way the class is mirrored walls on all 4 sides) I had a sudden sure feeling that I wanted to get the lab band surgery done, I was tired of struggling so hard with trying to lose weight! So I got back on track with attending nutrition classes at Kaiser and trying to meet my goal weight..every time I would go to one of the classes I would take colon cleanse for about a week just to make sure my weight was down.  I finally hit my goal weight of 280 in August and was scheduled for the surgery on Sept 13, 2010.  It's now going on 3 weeks and I am just now starting to NOT regret having it done, although if I knew then what I know now I would definately try to diet and excercise more seriously and not have the surgery (I MISS FOOD) but from what I understand from most people who have had it done it is well worth it in the long run.  So I hope this works I hope that I can eat regular food again without pain and I hope that I am able to lose weight and most importantly keep the weight OFF! I don't mind dieting if I can see results.  Best wishes to us all!
