Good luck to all those with surgery dates for today or in the coming days!

I'm getting ready right now to head to the hospital right now, more excited than nervous thankfully.

See y'all on the other side! (Last official home weigh in... 315.2lb)

Surgery went well. Gallbladder / Lap-Band removed, RNY performed.

Woke up in a lot of pain and was given some diluadid and morphine pain pump. Sipping Water and in my room now... Onwards to recovery!

Supposed to be here overnight and released tomorrow, we shall see.

So glad it went well. Give it 3-4 days you should be doing better. Go for some short walks will help move the gas around. Welcome to the winners circle, I save you a seat on the losers bench.

Walking/standing after drinking anything will help keep yur funnel/sleeve empty. You want to keep the funnel empty while meeting the fluid/nutrition goals. 4 1/2 days out , no problems or real pain with that strategy .

Trying to get ready for my surgery tomorrow. I have to be at the hospital 3 hours prior but the surgery is at 1:30pm. I guess I will starve all day since I can’t have anything pass midnight. Speedy recovery for all you wonderful people that had surgery today. I got messages for a bunch of medicine that is ready for me at the pharmacy. Everything seems on track so far 😊

Surgery tomorrow haven’t got my time yet but was told be there at 6 am a couple days ago unless my phone call tells me differently. Super excited and I have my surgeon preop appointment today. Not sure how many of you have sampled the Chili Unjury brand Protein Soup but I’m loving it. I’ve made it twice now and learned after the first time that 1/2 a pack or 1/2 a scoop is very filling so I just save the other half for when I start feeling those hunger pains again. I highly recommend it if you like things with lots of flavor and spice.
Now I may have over did this as I tend to in my excitement but I went on my liver reduction diet early and have been consuming less than 800 calories for 17 days. I’ve been feeling light headed and dizzy and of course the headaches that are normal. I’ve only been on straight liquids for the past 4 days as my doctor only required me to be on them for 2. Besides the dizziness I feel good and just wondering if anyone else having light headed and dizzy spells and roughly how many calories you’ve consumed during the liver reduction period. My dietician didn’t want us to count calories just make sure we implemented certain items which I did protein drinks and 1 meal high in protein with veggies. Then of course switch to all liquid the final 2 days. Some days I did only get 600 calories and found it hard to reach 800. My dizzier days
Best wishes everyone

I hope the dizziness subsides. May I ask if you've lost any weight? I want to start my diet the week after Christmas.

I'm so excited reading about everyone's recent and upcoming surgeries!!

I go to the hospital tomorrow for pre-admission testing. It's getting real!! I still feel like I'm starving on this pre-op diet, but I know that in a couple weeks it will all be worth it.

I have a closet full of clothes that don't fit, and I started organizing them by size. Ha ha! I have jeans that range from size 4 to 14, and I can't fit into any of them! Once I grew out of the 14s, I started wearing stretch pants. Can't wait to wear jeans again. I also have a tons of suits ranging from 6 to 18. The 6s are literally 20 years old, but I've held on to them, just in case I can ever fit into them again. They are from Petite Sophisticate, which went out of business YEARS ago!!!

So for once, I'm having fun in my closet, dreaming about wearing some of these clothes again someday soon!!

My closet is surgery ready as well. I'm looking forward to wearing a few dresses, smaller pants and shoes.

I too reorganized, even repainted my closet. Bought some new clothes and have them sized down from my current to size 8. The clothes That are already to big for me I’ve washed tagged for a garage sale and put in my she-shed for a sale next year. Down 3 sizes started size 22 but can now wear a size 18. Whoop whoop. Excited and feeling great to have clothes that look nicer and LOOSER on me. I’ve been having my daughter take periodic pictures of me Thru this journey and can’t wait to see the very end result and the transformation she puts together for me with her film. I’ve already seen differences that amaze me. Sometimes you don’t realize how bad it was you came from til you see where you worked so hard to get. You realize you never want to go back to that bad place again.
Size 8 I’m coming for you🤗

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
