I had my surgery 10/17 and just made my first meal. I’m happy my stomach was pleased. 😊 Baked Tilapia with lime juice. I risked it with some Cajun spices- but not too spicy! (This is enough for three meals. I ate 1/3)

Tripple yummy looking! I cant' wait!!! I don't know what's gotten into me but lately I've been watching all these youtube bariatric, whole30 and Keto cooking shows. Today I just bought a Instapot and a Air Fryer to get ready to eat again. I'm not craving anything, but just want to eat healthy from the start.

Thanks @llhill! I need to start doing that... I was always a healthy eater and cook for my kids often, but I was nervous about cooking for myself again. I love spicy and I feel like a newborn feeding myself... and what if my belly revolts!? I should follow your lead with shows. I have gone back and forth about an air fryer... they might make me purchase!

I'm also nervous about what foods this new pouch will like and not like, but I'm gonna remain optimistic and tell myself that I'm going to cook it so delicious it won't be able to resist!

Waving ✋ my hand and slowly and limply. Surgery was wonderful, so was my post-surgery days, until I started chanting "I am thinking I am developing A Stricture" and them saying No You Aren't
1 it still is early
2 You're swollen inside
3 You never had one before
4 We are the professionals, not you!
5 Give yourself a month or so, we doubt it and you!
6 Do you desire that much being the center of the universe?
And guess who was right? ME Me ME! Took them untill October 12 to do an endoscopy, yep stricture measuring,9mm, And also 5 or 6 brand new ulcers, 2 within the pouch and the remainder on the back wall of my Jejunem. And this was 1 time I would have wished to be wrong. That time didn't work, neither did October and 26 and this Friday, November 9th,i get explored once again! May this be the "💰 Money Shot! Fearful may need eventual open surgery, no they didn't say so, but my inner Medical Geekness, maybe so?

Had my surgery Oct 26th came home the 28th. I never had a drain my Dr covered my stitches with Water proof gel I could take a shower as usual just couldn't rub the area. The gel is still on as of now it falls off on its own.
I had a drain. I got home on the 29th and it's already closed. I still have the glue on my other 6 incisions. Its starting to peel off. Hopefully it won't take long because it itch

Got my surgery done on 10/30, had some complications but was discharged yesterday 11/02.
Do you guys put some antibacterial ointment on the drain incision? Also, do you take off the bandage before showering and put it a new one after?
They took my drain out the day of discharge on 10/29. I was told not to put ointments on it. They said to just let it dry out. I did wash and pat dry. I was told I didn't have to cover it back up after I took their bandages off. My drain incision is completely closed with a scab now and its only been a few days

Hey there! Just had my surgery Oct. 29 and feel super alone right now. I didn't have much pain, just a lot of nausea. Had to stay in the hospital an extra day from the vomitting but now its much better, although not gone completely.
FlyAwayFree I had my surgery on 10/29 as well. I was on an emotional rollercoaster for the past 2 days. I got out the hospital on the 31st. I was fine but I couldn't get the 64 fl ozs of liquid in. I felt like a failure. I thought I was getting dehydrated and I was going to need to go back to the hospital. I didn't want to tell anyone how I was feeling because I didn't want them to look at me as a failure as well. So yesterday I had a talk with myself that I know I got this and I know I can do it.

After my last drink of Water before bed last night i drank 81.5 fl ozs of water......yay. Hopefully the talk with myself fixed me. And hopefully my emotions are back in check.

Did you get nausea medications? I wasn't taking mine but I did yesterday. No nausea now. It's so hard for me to drink just water. I made myself drink 1.5 bottles because my urine was getting so dark.

This group is such a life saver. I love it. So don't ever feel alone just bring it to the group. We can all help each other.

You got this FlyAwayFree. You are amazing for taking the 1st step to change the rest of your life [emoji6]

I was sleeved on October 30 2018, 6 days ago from today. The sounds my stomach is making woke me up from a deep sleep this morning and I actually felt hungry! I ran downstairs and grabbed a plain Greek yogurt. I took 2 small spoonfuls and my belly went silent. Is this going to happen everyday? The sounds are scary!

I go to the doctors Tuesday as well. I want scrambled eggs. I haven't had hunger pains yet but I want to eat some thicker food. I'll even take a Protein Shake. I have been getting heartburn from the liquids. Have you experienced that?

I too was sleeved on 10/30 and went to bed last night at the sounds of my stomach hahaha. I had a Protein Shake this morning and now I am feeling hungry. I think the sounds should stop once we reach the puree or solid food stage where we can eat more.

I haven't had crazy cravings but would love to have some more variety in my menu. Like some salty stuff. I am going to make a Ricota bake as soon as my doctor gives the ok hahaha.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
