Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!

I would love to make some surgery buddies now so we can go through all the pre-op requirements together and stick through surgery and beyond. Anyone else already know their surgery will occur this summer?

My surgery is going to fall in the July or August time frame. Most of this is dependent upon checking all my surgeon's boxes, the rest is dependent upon my financing since I'm self-pay. I'll be getting the sleeve.

I love my surgeon and feel really lucky to have found him. So far the pre-op stuff has gone smoothly, but I am just at the beginning stages. I've scheduled all my evals and classes and attended my first weight loss class last week. I found it to be mildly helpful. It was certainly geared more toward those that hadn't already read through the surgery binder and/or those that had no clue what healthy eating consisted of. I'm hoping future classes focus more on the post-op eating.

My first visit with my PCP about this surgery is next week as that's the soonest I could get in to see her. I'm hoping she'll be supportive as my surgeon knew of her when I told him that's who I see. But if I have to find another PCP so be it.

My first dietician appt is next week and psych eval is the week after that. I only have to get these three meetings out of the way to schedule my surgery. So I'm anxious to get that done!

I'm excited to hear from others along the same timeline as me!

Mine is in less than a week. [emoji44] I still can't believe it's almost here. I'm the first one up on Wed. I also can't believe I've made it over a week on this preop diet without losing my mind lol

And the first day of July my Nougut Android is set to say "Our Day Will Come!" I can see sunlight right around the bend and then, and only then, the straightaway looms ahead❤????

I got the call yesterday!

Surgery date is August 14th!:D

Exciting ElanBrin so happy, for, ypu date finally!
Hi everyone! I’m in month 5 of preop and hoping to get surgery by the end of summer. I still have a few requirements left like my psych appt in 2 weeks, abd ultrasound and labs next week and another surgery class next week. Plus I’m waiting for gastroenterology to call me to make an EGD appointment. (I’m thinking of calling them instead -the squeaky wheel gets the grease right?)

I haven’t let myself get excited yet because of all the hoops to jump through but I feel like I’m finally able to see a tiny light at the end of the tunnel!
Hope everything will, fall in,place and you will join us on this wonderous journey.?

I'm in month 5 also. I'm so ready for this wait to be over, it feels like I started the process forever ago. I notice that you are from PA also. We aren't only close in surgery dates, but location as well!

And if you 2 are an example,Keystone State must be just great! Your neighbor to the West Frustr8 the born and bred Buckeye?
My surgery is going to be this coming Monday June 18. This is my first time on this forum and i’d love to make new friends that I could relate to!

It does feel like forever ago! My only complaint is that I wish some of the requirements could have been done earlier. I know my program is trying to “weed” out those who aren’t committed but I feel like this is a lot to try to fit in in the last month or so. Have you met your surgeon yet? I don’t even get to meet the surgeon until I green the “green light” from nut, psych, the nurse and the PA after my 6th month appointment! I did go ahead and call to schedule the EGD. I’m glad I did! - the first appointment available is in August! ?

I just keep telling myself baby steps! It’ll all be worth it.

This is what my process looked like....

went to a n information seminar with the surgeon and bariatric coordinator. At the end anyone truly interested fills out forms and gives a copy of their insurance form and is instructed to call pcp and begin six mos of physician directed weight loss. I'm the meantime they say u will hear from them within a few wks to get a date for psych eval and first nutrition consult. That is literally it until you schedule your last pcp visit, then yOu schedule with surgeon, submit to insurance and if approved have your labs, chest x ray, egd, etc... During which time you are in your 2 wk pre op diet..

My insurance let me do my 6 month diet with 2 different docs. I was able to do that in three months. I started with a seminar and my first appointment was the next day. I needed 7 total appointments for weigh ins. I used a nutritionist and a bariatric doctor for my diet. During that time I did my psych evaluation, question and answer session, physical therapy evaluation, and EKG and other testing. I had a last minute Endoscopy because my surgeon suggested that I go with the sleeve instead of bypass. I felt like I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off! I do feel lucky about how I was able to do my diet. So beginning to surgery will be January 31st to July 12th.
