Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!

I would love to make some surgery buddies now so we can go through all the pre-op requirements together and stick through surgery and beyond. Anyone else already know their surgery will occur this summer?

My surgery is going to fall in the July or August time frame. Most of this is dependent upon checking all my surgeon's boxes, the rest is dependent upon my financing since I'm self-pay. I'll be getting the sleeve.

I love my surgeon and feel really lucky to have found him. So far the pre-op stuff has gone smoothly, but I am just at the beginning stages. I've scheduled all my evals and classes and attended my first weight loss class last week. I found it to be mildly helpful. It was certainly geared more toward those that hadn't already read through the surgery binder and/or those that had no clue what healthy eating consisted of. I'm hoping future classes focus more on the post-op eating.

My first visit with my PCP about this surgery is next week as that's the soonest I could get in to see her. I'm hoping she'll be supportive as my surgeon knew of her when I told him that's who I see. But if I have to find another PCP so be it.

My first dietician appt is next week and psych eval is the week after that. I only have to get these three meetings out of the way to schedule my surgery. So I'm anxious to get that done!

I'm excited to hear from others along the same timeline as me!

I dont want to depend on the scale to make me happy, I have plenty of other signs that things are on track... but sometimes those numbers really hit me.

Today the scale read 211lbs. I haven't seen that number in I dont know how long. I dont know why this one means so much more to me than 214 did, or 219, but its hit me pretty solidly in the feels.

That said, does anyone else have a little voice in the back of their mind that tries to limit your excitement with caution? I've lost so many times before, part of me is terrified to embrace this happiness whole heartedly. Its silly. I want to silence that nay-saying part an just throw a 211 party in my living room!

Ah! Its such a random number to be thrilled about, but I am, I'm thrilled. I'm going to stomp on that nay-saying voice and have a living room dance party.

End ramble ?:1520_dancer_tone1:?

Yeah mine tries to tell me 294, a lot of Bariatric Pals start out at that weight BEFORE surgery. Why are you celebrating? But to someone who was once 355 that seems SO VERY FINE. I think it goes back to childhood, in my case I was told not to be "falsely proud" now I wonder if I deserve such happiness? But Mama and my family meant well, they were at a loss to grow up a Frustr8, SO. they punted a lot!
Hi everyone! I’m new here and I was sleeved on 8/28 in Ohio! I’m 38 pounds down total but have been stalled for over a week now ? I’m glad I found it here to hear about all of your experiences because my support system is very low and love to have others to relate to ❤️
Can you believe our Summer has come to an end?? This has been so much fun making friends, cheering everyone on, and watching all the progress!
Here is our September Golden Key winners!
