Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!

I would love to make some surgery buddies now so we can go through all the pre-op requirements together and stick through surgery and beyond. Anyone else already know their surgery will occur this summer?

My surgery is going to fall in the July or August time frame. Most of this is dependent upon checking all my surgeon's boxes, the rest is dependent upon my financing since I'm self-pay. I'll be getting the sleeve.

I love my surgeon and feel really lucky to have found him. So far the pre-op stuff has gone smoothly, but I am just at the beginning stages. I've scheduled all my evals and classes and attended my first weight loss class last week. I found it to be mildly helpful. It was certainly geared more toward those that hadn't already read through the surgery binder and/or those that had no clue what healthy eating consisted of. I'm hoping future classes focus more on the post-op eating.

My first visit with my PCP about this surgery is next week as that's the soonest I could get in to see her. I'm hoping she'll be supportive as my surgeon knew of her when I told him that's who I see. But if I have to find another PCP so be it.

My first dietician appt is next week and psych eval is the week after that. I only have to get these three meetings out of the way to schedule my surgery. So I'm anxious to get that done!

I'm excited to hear from others along the same timeline as me!

??????????
So it’s getting very real, did my pre-op appointment today. Signed everything I needed to sign giving them permission to perform my surgery. I am only required to be on my liquid diet for 10 days. Down side(s): 1) found out that I didn’t need the isopure after ordering the isopure that my nutritionist insisted that I needed ??‍♀️ 2) I have to take lovenox injections. I absolutely HATE needles so I have no idea how I’m gonna pull off injections for 10 days. I have ONE more appointment before surgery. On the 20th I go to the hospital to meet with the Anesthesiologist. After that I am all set! Oh and my pre-op diet is three protein shakes and two 100 calorie yogurts a day. Doable, I happen to like protein shakes ??‍♀️. Anyway, that was my update. Sorry about being long winded, lol
And I believe you will be able to follow this perhaps ive in your ability to pull all, this off, and I'm going to trust since you
that did not come out exactly right.
I believe you can follow this plan and acheive your success
And so you will be ready for surgery and in a month I can follow your footprints in life's sand and obtain my own victory
Now that sounds a little garbeled, doesn't it??✌?

ALFxRNY... Im so glad u got everything squared away. U can get through the injections, its just one more small hurdle. Im also glad to hear that your pre diet isnt TOO bad. You are on the home stretch now. Almost there girl!

Thank you! I started reading tips around the forums about the injections. I’m gonna cry like a big baby but I’m going to do it. Oh and I found out I may have a small hiatal hernia which my surgeon will repair. And very soon you will finally be completing your journey to your new life (hopefully minus the injections, lol).

I’m super excited about everything except the shots, lol. I will kick and scream but inevitably do them. I am very shocked by how doable my pre diet is. For the most part I tend to do 2 protein shakes a day (as meal replacement) anyway so adding a 3rd won’t be too bad. My surgeon is happy to hear that I’m excited and not scared or nervous. Says it makes for a smoother process ?

It wont let me quote u!! Driving me nuts! You are gonna keep me informed as to what to expect every minute of the way after u finish your surgery, right? Lol

Congrats! Welcome to the Summer Surgery family!

I’m on day 5 of self injections, and believe me I am a huge sook, but this has been easier than I expected. Have the nurse show you how to do it painlessly. The needle is so fine you barely feel it.

Will definitely have the nurse instruct me on it. I already have the prescription for it. Thank you for the advice! I’m just such a big baby about shots. Scarring childhood incident to blame for that, lol
