Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!

I would love to make some surgery buddies now so we can go through all the pre-op requirements together and stick through surgery and beyond. Anyone else already know their surgery will occur this summer?

My surgery is going to fall in the July or August time frame. Most of this is dependent upon checking all my surgeon's boxes, the rest is dependent upon my financing since I'm self-pay. I'll be getting the sleeve.

I love my surgeon and feel really lucky to have found him. So far the pre-op stuff has gone smoothly, but I am just at the beginning stages. I've scheduled all my evals and classes and attended my first weight loss class last week. I found it to be mildly helpful. It was certainly geared more toward those that hadn't already read through the surgery binder and/or those that had no clue what healthy eating consisted of. I'm hoping future classes focus more on the post-op eating.

My first visit with my PCP about this surgery is next week as that's the soonest I could get in to see her. I'm hoping she'll be supportive as my surgeon knew of her when I told him that's who I see. But if I have to find another PCP so be it.

My first dietician appt is next week and psych eval is the week after that. I only have to get these three meetings out of the way to schedule my surgery. So I'm anxious to get that done!

I'm excited to hear from others along the same timeline as me!

Well, day one of my liquid diet is done. Only hard part was head hunger. Well not hunger, but the urge to chew was definitely there. But I survived! Ready for day 2! Eyes on the prize! Surgery next Thursday!

I'm glad you did well... I keep hearing after day 3 it's a breeze! Ur doing great!

Yeah, I was able to get in 3 shakes and 1 yogurt. And adding the yogurt into the rotation was pushing it honestly. I’m not even hungry. I did have a sugar free popsicle, but that was because it was extremely hot today. I just drank water between protein shakes. I knew they gave me an easy diet, lol. Don’t know how easy the full liquid part will be for the 2 days before surgery. Also, day of surgery I’m going to be feeling dehydrated. No water after midnight and my surgery is late in the afternoon...oh well, I’ll live ?

Congrats! We have to keep each other posted about how things go! I’m having bypass/rny!
Reading all the stuff about the liquid diet prior makes me nervous, my dr didn’t give me that at all
Just said to eat light, and nothing after midnight the night before
All my paperwork states the same thing

My liquid diet isn’t too bad. 3 protein shakes a day and they asked that I also eat 2 yogurts but I can only manage 1. Your liver must not need to be shrunk much. Lucky you! And same about the nothing after midnight. I don’t mind the not eating food part but I LOVE water and my surgery is late in the day (3:15pm, have to be there by 1:45pm) so I will be parched for a while, lol
My show up time is 9:30 for now but they said it could change, they will call the day before and let me know
Plain Water is the hard part for me ?

I would love an earlier time but they’ve confirmed 3:15 like 3 times already for me, lol. And have you tried a sugar free liquid enhancer for your water? Adds some flavor for non water drinkers. I just love ice cold water ??‍♀️
Yea that’s what i use to get my water in a lot
Just not a fan of plain water
I’m hoping my time stays there or pushes back some i live a little over a hour from the hospital
So it’s gonna be a early drive with morning traffic into Boston

The hospital I’m having surgery at is a less than 10 minute ride away. Gonna get there early and hopefully they will get all of the day of pre-op testing out of the way pretty quickly. I’m so anxious but not in an “I’m so scared/nervous” type of way. More of an “I’m excited and want to get this over with and start my new healthy life” type of way
I hear ya, i was scheduled for my sleeve back in April and the called and canceled my surgery the day before it was suppose to happen.
And rescheduled me for the 28th of June
I was so ready to have it done then..mentally and physically
I was devastated when it happened, and i feel like I’m not as prepared this time
Sentaric did you know your streets were voted worse of all, I believe the term was " wicked bad" . HAs to do with being laid down by thirsty cattle headi,g to the Commons. Upshot if you can drive there you can drive anywhere!??

I’m sorry you had to be rescheduled ? but you’ve got this. Nerves are probably getting the best of you because of the long wait you’ve had. I’m sure you’ll be fine the day of ?
