Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!

I would love to make some surgery buddies now so we can go through all the pre-op requirements together and stick through surgery and beyond. Anyone else already know their surgery will occur this summer?

My surgery is going to fall in the July or August time frame. Most of this is dependent upon checking all my surgeon's boxes, the rest is dependent upon my financing since I'm self-pay. I'll be getting the sleeve.

I love my surgeon and feel really lucky to have found him. So far the pre-op stuff has gone smoothly, but I am just at the beginning stages. I've scheduled all my evals and classes and attended my first weight loss class last week. I found it to be mildly helpful. It was certainly geared more toward those that hadn't already read through the surgery binder and/or those that had no clue what healthy eating consisted of. I'm hoping future classes focus more on the post-op eating.

My first visit with my PCP about this surgery is next week as that's the soonest I could get in to see her. I'm hoping she'll be supportive as my surgeon knew of her when I told him that's who I see. But if I have to find another PCP so be it.

My first dietician appt is next week and psych eval is the week after that. I only have to get these three meetings out of the way to schedule my surgery. So I'm anxious to get that done!

I'm excited to hear from others along the same timeline as me!

Congrats and welcome to the summer 2018 surgery buddies clan. We hope you’ll stick around and keep us posted about your journey ?

@Lauren26 Hello and welcome! I plan to have RNY bypass and have my last appointment July 16th. I will have some testing but hope to have surgery in August. So, we are on a similar timeline it seems.

Yea that’s what i use to get my Water in a lot

Just not a fan of plain Water

I’m hoping my time stays there or pushes back some i live a little over a hour from the hospital

So it’s gonna be a early drive with morning traffic into Boston

The hospital I’m having surgery at is a less than 10 minute ride away. Gonna get there early and hopefully they will get all of the day of pre-op testing out of the way pretty quickly. I’m so anxious but not in an “I’m so scared/nervous” type of way. More of an “I’m excited and want to get this over with and start my new healthy life” type of way

On the topic of water...

I love water, but even I get sick of it. Someone on this board turned me on the PowerAde Zero and O M G it is so good! It tastes just like kool-aid to me. My favorite flavors are Grape and Fruit Punch. (There is quite the lively debate somewhere on this board about the Grape flavor!)

I hate grape everything but I used to drink fruit punch Gatorade when I was sick, lol. I can drink plain ice water any time. I am thinking about buying the Bariatric fusion pink lemonade drinkable vitamin packs. It was delicious and 2 packs a day covers your vitamin needs. My surgeon’s office gave me a sample of the pink lemonade and the mixed berry. Didn’t care for the mixed berry though
