ElanBri got a reaction from clsumrall in Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: 1 Year Check InHi Everyone! It has been a while. I'm now about 88 lbs down, but have been stuck losing and gaining the same 5 pounds since January. A bit frustrated, but that's where I am with it.
This year has been incredible. My confidence has grown, as has my energy level. I still have about 50 lbs to go before I reach my ideal weight. I don't know if that's plausible at this point, but I'm hopeful.
In an effort to boost my loss, I've gone back to very low carb, high protein and have increased my activity a HUGE amount. Hopefully it pays off.

ElanBri reacted to Matt Z in Frustrated with stallAre you tracking your fat loss?
Are you following your diet plan?
Are you drinking upwards of 128oz of water?
Do you know your BMR?
Are you eating less calories than your BMR?
Are you exercising?
Are you tracking your food at all?
Congrats on the weight loss, DO NOT lose sight of that!
I've had so many days where I've gained weight or didn't move at all, but lost fat %.

ElanBri reacted to Orchids&Dragons in Overheard Staff Joking About My BodyI am so sorry that you went through this. When you go back for your blood work, bring 3 copies of your post with you. Stop in and tell the PA that you need a moment of her time and that her "friends" need to join you. Give them each a copy of your post and add a p.s. at the bottom to them know if you ever hear the slightest hint that this behavior has been repeated, you will report them to the surgeon, the office manager and maybe even post it on YELP. Remind them that patients DO talk. You don't have to say a word, then walk out with your head high. If the PA won't meet with you, go straight to the surgeon and office manager.
You've dealt with enough sh!t in your life. You don't need to deal with theirs, too.

ElanBri reacted to Frustr8 in August surgery pplAnd remember at September 5th I am your designated Red Headed Stepchild in the Attic our parents might have talked about. I consider myself a Almost August! -
Christ on a cracker! I'm having gastric bypass surgery in 2 weeks after going through a 6 month weight loss program. Damn, I never thought I'd find myself here. I mean WTF? I am having my entire guts rearranged just to get my weight under control. Sometimes it just seems ridiculous.
So, grizzled veterans, what's the run down on your coping strategies? Do not tell me that you discovered a new-found love of exercise and that you just *like* go for a run when you are stressed and tired. For real, what are you doing?
I mean, we go to all these classes and dredge up all our bullshit so ALL THE THINGS are simmering just under the surface and then our coping mechanism is ripped out from under us at the same time. I feel like a battered and bruised ball of sensitivity after talking about and trying to deal with self image, denial, abuse, etc. Then, the one thing that has always been reliable, has always worked for me (temporarily!) is not the thing anymore. The glass of wine, the pint of ice cream, the latte and scone with your BFF, the lasagna at mom's, BUH-BYE!
I don't want to make it sound like I'm not doing the work; this is the first time in ages I've looked forward to the upcoming year. I've worked hard at breaking some of my worst habits: Fast food, eating in front of the TV, snacking after the kids go to bed - THE WORST ONE - checkity check! I've even lost 20 lbs because I'm fk-ing serious about this. But, damn, what now?
I can't help but wonder...will I ever find my healthy coping mechanisms?

ElanBri got a reaction from lalyn in Arm & leg aches at night on Pre-op liquid dietYes. Usually for me that means my electrolytes aren't balanced.
Drink some broth and double check the amount of magnesium in your vitamins. A quick fix for me is Powerade Zero when this happens.

This is going to be awkward but I really can't handle asking someone in person. So perhaps you can help me with this matter.
I recently got confused about my relationship due to my husband's sudden fetish in women with bigger boobs. However, though he doesn't seem to directly tell it to my face, he keeps on mentioning how beautiful a woman is with a very proportioned figure. I got big butts but I'm a cup A size. Now I was wondering if I could consider surgery to have bigger boobs. Because honestly, I feel like I'm losing my relationship because of this paranoia I'm having.
-
ElanBri reacted to Matt Z in Does Having Bigger Boobs Can Save My Relationship? You are going to have to sit him down and have a very open, more than likely uncomfortable, conversation about what gets him going. I'd hate to advise going through another major surgery to "save a marriage" and then not have it work. The fact that you are willing to do that for him is pretty amazing.

ElanBri reacted to Sosewsue61 in bariatric coordinator issuesYou are just 'buying trouble' by ruminating on someone doing their job. They don't usually schedule surgery unless they know they are going to get the pre-op requirements fulfilled. Professionals do have appointments booked solid most of the time and I am sure that that was the issue with the psych.
You are lucky - the majority of us have to do 6 months of nutrition appointments, etc - so knock it off - the coordinator is familiar with how the insurance approval process works and how picky each type of insurance is. Most insurance approves quickly. Mine was approved in a couple days - but that was after jumping through many hoops for just over 6 months.
And anyway, it's not like it can't be rescheduled a week later - some people have been waiting nearly a year to get the process approved.
