Jolexis reacted to HighInTrial in 8 months inWanted to share some 8 month progress pics. I am a former college football player turned desk jobber that really lost my way. I decided to be sleeved after going to doc and BP was scary high. Father had heart attack in early 40’s and I was on track to beat him. Wanted to be around for my kids. Started at 6’2, 360lbs. Initial goal weight of 200lb Currently at 220, but really beginning to like what I see in the mirror. Fell in love with the gym. I know I’m in the honeymoon period (8 months in) but this has really given me a new lease on life.

Jolexis got a reaction from GreenTealael in Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores ThreadI have my next check up in a little less than 2 weeks (17mos post op) and I was kind of down on my self about not being at goal yet. I’ve been working out/ IF but my body is hanging onto these last 20lbs for dear life. I know it’s just a stall and they get longer the further out you get but it’s still frustrating when you hit one. ? -
I was wondering about her. Hope all is well with her!

Jolexis got a reaction from Bastian in How many years after surgery could you eat a plate of spaghetti without feeling nauseous?I get dizzy when I have too many carbs. Im over a year out and probably could eat a small serving of spaghetti but if I overdo it, it makes my pouch feel like it’s going to explode and negative conditioning is very real so I stay away. ?
When I make spaghetti for my family, I eat maybe 1/4 cup of noodles and a small serving of sauce/ sausage. Anything beyond that and the unpleasant dizziness kicks in... Just not worth it. ? I usually go to the gym or for a walk during dinner on spaghetti night. Desperate times calls for desperate measures.

Jolexis reacted to summerset in Lost / Gained 100 PoundsThat's why it's vital to develop a lifestyle you can maintain forever and be happy with because when you try to maintain a lifestyle you're not happy with you'll take any opportunity/excuse to ditch it (people usually refer to this as "and then life happened").

Jolexis got a reaction from rs in breadBREADbreadBREADbreeeaaaddI don’t allow bread in my house and if I buy it for the kids, I make sure it has raisins in it. ?
I understand the trigger. Mine is chocolate. I LOVE high quality, pure milk chocolate (or with champagne infused ?). I’ve come to realize that it just can’t be in my house. We all have our vices, it’s just a matter of drawing a line in the sand and not crossing it. ? -

Jolexis reacted to Bastian in THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREADActually a non diabetic with insulin resistance should be fasting between meals not eating more often as it spikes blood sugar levels which then gets converted to fat and then fat gets stored via gluconeogenesis in the liver.
So fasting is the way to go not eating more often. @Serengirl

Jolexis reacted to FluffyChix in breadBREADbreadBREADbreeeaaaddGirlfriend. You've just described a slippery slope. You are seeking it preferentially. And it's lighting up your brain like heroine.
When a food does that to me, I flag it and red light it.

Jolexis got a reaction from ms.sss in How often do others weigh themselves?I make myself face the scale everyday to keep myself accountable. I may not log every weight in MFP, but I know what the number is. I also don’t count it as a true gain unless it’s there for 3 days and I don’t beat myself up for gains the week before my period.
It’s not for everyone but it helps me. Part of the reason I was able to gain so much weight in the first place was because I was in denial about the number on the scale.
Also I’m over a year post op, so it’s important for me to be more diligent in preventing regain.
