Hi everyone,

I decided to have surgery after a small amount of time (one week after first seminar with extremely diligent research of various medical journals and studies ) and from my first meeting with the surgeon to surgery date was only five months. I feel like the brevity of the experience was an advantage for me not to talk myself out of it. Anyone else have a fairly quick experience?

My timeline was similar, primarily because my health insurance policy didn't require me to jump through as many hoops as other peoples' insurances.

I decided on bariatric surgery in October 2014 and attended my very first consultative visit at the end of that same month.

Paperwork was submitted to insurance in November. Insurance approved it on 12/26/2014.

I met with the surgeon for the first time and scheduled a date of February 4, but didn't make it due to inclement weather. I was sleeved on 4/20/2015.

So, less than 6 months elapsed between the first consultation and the actual surgery.

I self-paid so I didn't have to wait for insurance or anything. One month from my first consultation to getting slashed up.

I went in for my first consult in May, had my surgery in December. My insurance required 6 months of medically supervised weight loss, psychiatrist, upper GI (which ended up requiring an endoscopy due to what they found), chest X-ray, EKG, and labs.

Everyone kept the ball rolling and kept me on target...went very fast and worked out great:)

Sure. My only before pic is a crappy selfie though thanks to a chronic aversion to cameras.

I only considered it after I found out my new insurance (Medicaid ) would cover it without a ton of hoops to jump through unlike my previous insurance Empire

I started looking into it it in feb 2017 and had surgery in June 2017. Definitely was a good experience for me! I'm almost 6 months out and 51 lbs down. I was a low bmi compared to most and am very happy with my results so far!

I had my consultation on October 12th, EGD on Nov 1st, Insurance approved Nov 20th and my surgery is scheduled for Dec 29th. So about 2 1/2 months. I would have had it sooner but my first EGD they found an ulcer, so i had to do a repeat on Dec 2nd. And it was gone so i was able to schedule my surgery!!

I went into the program 7/19/16 and was sleeved 12/30/16 but I was approved the last week of November, I chose to push it out past the holidays because I have two small children, so I could have had it done a month earlier. My program only required a 90 day program at the time but it's since moved to a 6 month program in the past year.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
