Late December Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Once again here , today is my 20th day post op. Surgery date 12/29. Still can't eat anything other than yogurt 2-4 oz over an hour, Protein Shake same speed. Anything else( Soup , mashed potatoes, Baba ganoush, ) I can eat couple of bites, after 5 minutes of that I start belching , severe pain in chest and eventually I throw up . Now I'm even getting hungry but can't eat anything as I'm scared of the pain.my doctor gave an OK to eat almost a week and a half ago but I can't Anyone else feeling that way ??

I’m also experiencing the same. Surgery was on 12/27 and I was approved to start soft solids this week. I thought I was doing pretty good as I eat an entire Greek yogurt everyday for Breakfast without any problems, but I experience the chest pain, nausea and vomiting after eating soft solids. Even when I try to belch I end up throwing up. Now I’m experiencing acid reflux from all the throwing up. Today I had bad reflux and ate 2 spoons of yogurt to try to coat my stomach, but I ended up throwing that up as well. I think the trick may be taking breaks after a couple of bites to give it time to digest. When I do this I’m able to keep the food down.

Omg! Me too!!!! The doctors saw me yesterday, did barium xray...he was there and saw his beautiful master piece. There is nothing wrong....he prescribed me Nexium. You will not belive how much better I have felt today. Just two doses. I do tend to eat strange foods....I just eat small Snacks, instead of a so call Breakfast, lunch and dinner. I make cornmeal malt o meal style with about I tablespoon of fat free Creamer, 1 cup Water, 1/2 tsp salt 2 packs equal. Simmer down to a smooth thick and creamy...hit's the spot. I only eat about two oz. Then about 30 min later an oz of Protein Premier banana or chocolate drink, and some water. Two hours later 1string cheese...1/2 container of sugar free Jello.

Today I ate wonton Soup and a half mush noodle..not the meat part. Then about 2 hours later another string cheese and a half oz of yogurt. And at night 6-7 jello, 1/2 cup mash potato with a bit of mayo and Parmesan cheese. Lots of sips of water thru out the day. I most 21 pounds since 12/29. Do not eat fast, do not eat too much and don't drink water while eating. That will make you burp and choke and vomit. Is like pushing too much too fast through a small funnel. Thathe is what made me miserable. The doctor also told me, not to worry if i dont get enough calories or the protein, just drink at least 40 oz of water. I hope that maybe helped !

Hi from Montana everyone! I had my sleeve surgery on 12/26 too and I’m doing great! I haven’t been nauseous at all. The only time I felt a gag at all was taking the HUGE, dry Tylenol in the hospital. I had to wash it down so much I filled my gut with Water. I felt like I would throw up and ended up burping.
Of course the internal incisions were painful and still bothersome after 3 weeks but healing nicely.

I would like to talk about meals. Adding food in and still getting my Protein and water in a day is a struggle

Last night we had a very late dinner, around 11 pm, and I hadn't eaten since my second Protein Shake around 3:30 in the afternoon. So I got a plain cheeseburger and a small diet cherry limeade. I ate the burger patty and the bottom half of the bun, probably faster than I should have, and then took a few sips of the drink (through a straw, which was yet another stupid thing I did without thinking). My stomach felt so full, I couldn't breathe, and I just knew it was full of gas. So I was finally able to burp, and then everything came back up. So here's a list of things I won't be doing any time soon:

1) Eating hamburger Buns

2) Eating too fast

3) Drinking soda

4) Drinking through a straw

5) Drinking immediately after I finish eating

Anybody having nausea? I’m 3 weeks and 2 days post op and have had horrible nausea for almost a week. I might be able to eat 2oz of Soup a day and that’s it. I was supposed to go to dr yesterday but couldn’t because of the weather. I had to reschedule for Monday. I am going to do blood work today, so my surgeon has it for Monday. I’ve been taking zofran but it absolutely does not work. I found some reglan I had left over from my pregnancy and I’m going to see if that works. Thankfully I’ve been out of work , because of the weather, but this nausea is ruining my life. My house is a mess, my kids are basically having to fend for themselves, thank god my 9 year old can help with my baby. Just picking her up and changing her diaper makes me feel sick to my stomach, like it takes too much energy. A lot of the time I totally regret having this surgery 😥😥.

I still had nausea at that time and I completely understand how you feel. I have children as well and it is nice that they're old enough to help around the house. Don't stress yourself about a messy house, that is the luxury of having children and theres a big difference between messy and nasty. Let yourself relax. I think many of us went through the regret stage after the surgery so you aren't alone. The thought of looking good in my wedding dress didn't even make me happy lol, which is what my fiancé tried to make me feel better with. But we are here if you'd like to vent. Have a good day

I did really well the first 4 weeks and now that I have started my 5th I am experiencing the same issues. Yesterday my doctor put me back on a liquid diet for a week to see how that goes. He said my stomach may need a rest.

I had my surgery 12/21 and I am experiencing the same issues. My doctor told me yesterday to back off solids and drink liquids for a week to see how that feels. He said my stomach may just be irritated still. I also don't have an appetite but the doc said that was okay as well, as long as I get my Protein and Water requirements in. It does get better though.

All of those are things they say don't do, I can't imagine the pain you were in doing them all at once. Be careful because you can stretch your stomach out. Good luck on your recovery.

I wonder why the stall then. I haven't been on a scale since my first appointment after surgery and I think I'm going to keep it this way so I don't drive myself insane if I stall lol. I hear most people stall but they usually break out of it. Good luck to you. Hopefully your progress will start again soon.

I did bloodwork and urine sample yesterday. Everything was perfect according to the dr, but I still feel like crap. The zofran quit working, so I switched to phenegran, but that’s not helping so far either. I’m at work today and feel like I’m going to throw up at any minute. It’s absolutly miserable. Dr said it could just be from surgery 😥😥. I really wish it’d go away.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
