2/9 Surgery Date Team

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

It sounds like everyone is doing well. So, today I started puree. Although I am doing well, the last few days I have been mourning the loss of food. I know things will get better, but I'm in mourning nonetheless. I tried egg salad twice today. Was really carefull about taking baby bites and chewing, but could only eat 1 1/2 tbs. for both lunch and dinner. At that point I was nauseous stopped. Anyone else relate?

On another note, you're in my thoughts, diet belle. I sure hope things start looking up for you soon.

Have a good evening, 2/9 crew!

Honestly I'm never hungry, I just drink because I know I should and I'm trying to create some consistency. I need to be like you and figure out how to tell if I am full.

Mourning food huh? You are not alone. Today I ate a couple of potato chips KNOWING I was not hungry and should not eat it. Oh well, I chewed and chewed and it made my stomach bloat up like it was pumped with air!!! I'm not in pain, but I'm really bloated. Afterwards I started drinking Water only because of the guilt for cheating. I beat myself up today and will start over fresh tomorrow.

This process is more that just having the surgery. We have to change our thinking about food. Even taking about it here online is excellent support and therapy. Together we will get through this with success!!!

Whatever you want to eat, just taste a tiny bit. Your body will let you know if it still likes it or not:). Stay positive!!

Thanks so much for sharing, Positive44. I'm glad to know that others are at the same spot. I've come pretty darn close to your private moment with those potatoe chips! Last weekend I had to sit through my son's pizza birthday party with the pizza and cake right in front of me! My husband actually started getting me a slice of pizza. When he looked up and saw my deathly dagger eyes he felt horrible! Thanks for the encouragement!

That is why they say this is a tool. We have to be able to break old habits. It's hard, but so worth it. The first week to week and a half were hard for me. Now I watch everything I eat and have very little cravings for food from my old life. Good luck!

I love my Isopure chocolate Protein shakes!

Anyone a side sleeper? Are you able to sleep on your side without any discomfort?

I also tried adding unflavored Protein to chicken broth and it did not dissolve and I just could not do the texture. Yuck.

Try this kind Isopure! It dissolves in everything no thickening and I can not taste it at all! Has been a lifesaver! I got it at The Vitamin Shoppe but others have said GNC has it also.attachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1456371009.516378.jpgattachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1456371022.681123.jpg

I agree and use this one too!

That is the exact kind I have. I only tried it on chicken broth and it did not dissolve. I have not tried it in anything else.

Personally I've found I have to "temper" the Protein powder when mixing into something hot so it doesn't turn into floating pieces of cardboard yuckity-yuck.

  • Put your Protein Powder in the bottom of whatever mug (I used a 12oz) you'll drink your broth from add enough cold/room temp broth to get all the powder pretty wet
  • Put the rest of your broth on the stove or nuke-o-wave to get it hot (in a measuring cup with a spout is ideal or kettle)
  • Meanwhile mix your powder/cold broth mix up to make a mud consistency. I like to smear some of it against the mug to make sure there are no lumps
  • Once the rest of your broth is hot, slowly pour it into your mug with the mud/sludge already in it and constantly stir until your mug is full
  • After everything is mixed and dissolved you can reheat the whole mug in the nuker at will with no issues as many times as needed

I'm attaching the instructions for making Protein hot chocolate that I found @ http://www.bariatricfoodie.com/ it really helped me while experimenting in the kitchen!

Hey 2/9 Team!!!!

I may be MIA from now through Sunday. My wife & I have had this beautiful little demon whoops I mean girl for nearly two years (she's now 4 and we get to go to court tomorrow and finalize the adoption - its been a long expensive road but man-o-man that little turkey is worth it . I have to brag so I'm attaching her first day of school picture). She's definitely my "mini me" and wow does she pick up on everything we say! So anyway I doubt I'll have time to browse the forum as we've got family coming in to help Celebrate, however, if anyone needs food ideas or just a friend to email please feel free to reach out lilmskittty@gmail.com and I really mean that having a strong group of us to talk too really helps!

@Positive44- Is the binder still helping?

@@ElChrisPLindo - I finally got brave enough to try fish last night and OMG was it wonderful thanks for the idea! So what else ya got? :o

@@losinglily - How the purees going? Have you found anything you really like? I'm not really all that hungry but I try to eat on a schedule. I'm been writing down what time I eat whatever it is I'm eating in my food journal. I have indulged in 1 Russell Stover Sugar Free Chocolate candy each evening this week. I don't beat myself up because its really low carbs and even has 1g Protein in it B)

@@dietbelle - are you feeling any better?

If I missed anyone (It'sTime!) forgive me but lil demon just got up and I have to get her ready for school!

Hugggggs all,

~K

MxKitty- I am so thrilled for you and your wife! What a cutie! Congrats!

I have only tried egg and tuna salad. The egg salad doesn't sit too well, but the tuna was awesome.

I use the unflavored Isupure powder as well. Thanks for the tip regarding how to mix the powder without clumps. I am going to see my doctor in an hour or so to get my staples removed. Can't wait to get them out!

Hi Team, so glad to see that everyone is doing well. Congrats TxJP on the 22 pound lost [emoji322][emoji322][emoji16]

ElChris - I am a major slide sleeper and when I couldn't sleep on my side I was miserable. Try placing a pillow under your body on the side you sleep on to relieve some pressure. I am now able to comfortably sleep on either side, I just have to be careful when I get up as I have a burning pain sometimes under the larger incision

Nlo or MxKitty - there is an actual chicken broth Protein from Unjury, I purchased it prior to surgery but can't even drink it now - if one of you want it, it's all yours

MxKitty congrats on the 18.4 pound lost, I experienced the monthly gift last week and it was no fun [emoji57] also congrats on the new permanent addition to your family, she is a cutie. I am sure you and your wife are ecstatic

Losing lily- I can't eat eggs into week 5 and tuna did not sit well with me, so I'm a little jealous [emoji51] congrats on getting your staples removed (ouch)

I have returned to 2 shakes a day as I was not getting in all my liquids and protein and food is not sitting well in my tummy. It feels like it gets stuck and the other day I literally started spitting up foam, which I'm told is gerd. Not very happy as I had a hernia repair, so the acid issues shouldn't be there but the doctors office told me to take nexium for a month, so we shall see

Happy pre-Friday all

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
