Impatiently waiting...June sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Hi, My Surgery is scheduled for June 1st, I have started my preop liquid diet today. All Clear Liquids, and 3 Protein Shakes a day. I had Jello and a shake this morning, A shakeology shake for lunch and 2 crackers . Im not suppose to have anything but broth, jello popsicles and shakes.Water obiviously. This is going to be tough, I work 2 jobs the 2nd being a waitressing job..I pretty much told them I cant work until after my surgery. The other job I work is not food related so I feel confident with that one. I feel kinda bad about eating the 2 crackers but I was really hungry. HELP!

Still waiting on my sleep doc to clear me and that's it! I am already on a CPAP so I didn't think it was going to be a big deal, but apparently my sleep apnea has gone from mild to severe in the last three years! I am so ready, everything else is done, but my surgeon will not submit until everyone has cleared me! Wish me luck, hoping for the end of June!

My first day, I had 3 saltines!!! I didn't even start my Preop diet yet, it was really early, but my stomach was killing me and I needed something to settle it. Anyway, just keep doing the best you can.

Hi this is my first post, I have been lurking on here for awhile. I am 56, and have been married to my wonderful husband for 30 years in June, we have a 25 year old son.

I have my surgery scheduled for June 24. I have finished my nutritional counseling, and got clearance from the psychologist as well. I have been cleared by the cardiologist, and just got clearance from pulmonary today. My primary has been supervising my weight loss for the past year. I heard from the insurance company this week, and they approved my surgery.

I am equal parts excited and nervous!! LOL

I could have the surgery next month, but decided to wait as my husband and I are going on a cruise to Alaska to Celebrate our 30th Anniversary at the end of May.

I love this site, and really love all the support, so looking forward to joining the group :D

I am scheduled for sleeve surgery on June 24th as well :)

I'm cooking this weekend in preparation for my June 9th surgery date.

I have so many stewing hens in the freezer, I need to use them up before they get freezer burned. I figure that homemade chicken broth will be healthier and tastier when I'm on a clear liquid diet. I heard a tip to freeze broth in a muffin tray to have portion sizes of 1/4 - 1/3 cup. Pop them out once frozen and keep in a ziplock bag. Then they are quick to thaw in microwave. They can also be used to add flavor or make a quick sauce to other dishes.

In other news, the vegetable garden is planted. I'm wondering how much of it I'll be able to eat by harvest time. At least the rest of the family will eat healthy greens, Beans, peppers, tomatoes, and eggplant. I know veggies are hard to digest, so it'll be July/August before I'll be able to tuck in and eat a bean. If it's a good year, maybe I'll be loading up the freezer for winter just like my grandma used to do.

Here's hoping!

I am doing similar here. I have always canned and such though. I have 6 meals made ahead for the family but plan on doing a few more. I have some home canned tuna in the 4 oz jars and plan on doing chicken today or tomorrow in the same size.

Congrats on your garden! I have a few starts but nothing big like I have in the past. Mostly tomatoes and herbs.

HI Everyone!

This message is coming to you from the waiting room to get all my final surgical testing done! So far I've had my gallbladder ultrasound, next up is bloodwork, chest x-ray and EKG! Then I am good to go after my PCP clears me next week! Woohoo!

I also splurged last week and bought a Vitamix blender. I'm hoping this will encourage me to get my Protein Shakes in because it blends the ice to milkshake like consistency... And you can make all kinds of yummy Soups etc. with it! I can't wait to play with my new toy! I hope everyone is progressing well! Can't wait!

@@Stacyc311 I recently purchased a nutri-bullet for the same reasons. I'm anxious to give it a try but I'm not allowed fruits on my pre-op diet. Good luck!

I have whatever the GNC blender is. It is basically a nutribullet same type of blender. It works really well and I actually enjoy my Protein shakes!

Finally!! I'm done with my six-month doctor supervised visits! YAY!!! Now comes the waiting game!! My surgeon and medical staff will meet to discuss my case and determine if I'm a good candidate for surgery. After that - it gets submitted to my insurance company. (This could take up to a month - tops)!! So it's questionable whether if I'll be a "June-sleever" or a "July-sleever." @Seahawkgirl & @@mykdzmom - I may be joining you on the losers bench in July! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
