Hello!!   I found BariatricPal.com when I was surfing for information regarding gastric sleeve surgery.

About me...

I'm 53 years old, and have struggled with weight problems since I was in my early 30's.  I was very much a "pop-aholic" loved Mountain Dew - and when I noticed the weight gain, I switched to Pepsi. . . (What was I thinking)?   Eventually I switched to diet soda - thinking it would help me lose weight...  Again - What was I thinking??   I also love food!  I was a mindless food eater - loving junk food and not caring about the weight I was putting on until I started having health issues.

During my struggle with weight, I tried the Adkins diet, and had good results with it until I went on a cruise to the Caribbean, and that blew Adkins out of the water!!  I joined Weight Watchers three times, (twice at work) and once online. Weight Watchers worked, but there again - I couldn't stop the mindless eating and gained it all back.

Last year, just before Thanksgiving - I decided it was time to make changes in my life.  I'm not getting any younger and I need to do something about my weight problem!  I stopped smoking cigarettes and I gave up diet soda for good just before Thanksgiving 2014.   I was having a lot of lower back pain so I made an appointment with my PCP and seen him in the beginning of December.

He told me that my weight was the reason for my back pain, and recommended WLS.  We discussed it at length, and I agreed to attend the WL Seminar they were offering in December.  I had my first visit with my surgeon on Jan. 13 and here I am!  Looking forward to making my life change in a few months, and I'm really looking forward to being healthy again!

I know that my WLS is just a tool, and it's going to be work to lose the weight, but I look at this way.  My WLS will be my final motivator to take off the weight, and keep it off once and for all!   I really enjoy reading what everyone posts on this site!  I've gotten so much good advice, not just from people giving me the advice, but what people have offered to others!  It's awesome!  I plan on paying it forward once I have my surgery, to help others in their journey to weight loss!

September 23, 2015 - Update!
I uploaded my before and after pictures (to date).
Right now I'm currently down 61 lbs since my initial visit with my PCP.
I will update my after picture when my goal is met!
