Can anyone tell me why we can't have coffee or caffeine? I drink about 60oz a day.

coffee is also slows down the weight loss process.

I was told no caffeine the first 6months then after that to be very careful because after gastric bypass caffeine can cause ulcers very easily. I was a heavy coffee drinker and gave it up 3months pre op in preparation. Now I'm afraid to start up again after 6 months. Maybe an occasional but that will be all.

just started drinking coffee. we can't have regular coffee?

My nutritionist said I can't have caffeine ever again. I don't drink coffee, but if I did it would have to be Decaf for all of the reasons everyone has shared.

hmm, my doctor told me small amounts are ok. Yes coffee is a diuretic and a stimulant, but usually it causes me to not be hungry after drinking, but I haven't had any since my surgery since I am only a couple weeks out. I was told skim latte's are fine too and to add only sugar free flavoring or add chocolate Protein Powder to it for a mocha type coffee. I will be giving it a try around the 2 month mark. I guess everyone's surgeon is different. I do think some may worry if you drink in excess due to empty calories and possible weight gain because of that?

My surgeon says you can have coffee after 3 months, and as long as you can tolerate it it's fine. I wouldn't drink a ton of it, but a cup a day I'm sure is fine. I know someone who started back on coffee just 6 weeks after surgery.

I drink regular coffee every morning with 1 scoop of Protein powder, splenda, and skim milk. I am 2 years out and started drinking coffee after 1 year. I find it to be a great way to get my morning protein in. It does cause you to go to the bathroom more so it is important to get more Water intake! Every doctor is different with rules about coffee so it is best to ask your doctor and follow their advice. I do not recommend any soda...that includes diet soda!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
