The gas pain was the worst pain for me. On day two I regretted the surgery bc of how awful my gas pain was. Then it was better every single day. I never had surgical pain though. My c sections were much worse pain wise. But that gas pain whew...glad I made it through bc I wasn't sure I was going to! Lol!

I was sleeved on 7/5 - so just a day over 3 wks now. I was put on pureed food while in the hospital and I am still on it until next week. I have been eating sugar-free applesauce with vanilla Protein, I usually have a hot Cereal in the morning or a poached egg which I put in my baby food blender. tuna and canned chicken have also set well with my tummy. I also had some refried Beans with smashed avocado with a tiny splash of taco sauce one night. It set OK with me. But, that is about as exciting as I have gotten so far. I made egg salad one time and didn't puree it. That was not such a good idea - I was sick feeling the rest of the day. Another bad day was when I made instant oatmeal and bought the low sugar flavored one. Well, it was not low sugar enough - got nauseated after a few bites. I have had diarrhea ever since my surgery. Yesterday was the first time that I went all day without it. But, I also didn't have any bowel movement. So, now I am hoping I won't go the opposite way. My pain has been getting better until today. I am having sharp pains around my incision that was used to get my stomach out of - not sure what the reason for that is??

I find room temp or warm goes down better also. Five days out and not doing too bad. Drinking is my whole life right now! LOL

First day trying actually pureed foods today. I picked up turkey chili without Beans and pureed it. Drinking shakes was never an issue but even a quarter cup of pureed chili is taking close to an hour to eat. This is what I had been anticipating but still surprised at the heavy feeling a couple baby spoonfuls feels like. The taste is welcome though because I am so tired of sweet shakes.

Rox' date=' I was sleeved on 7/1 and I can honestly say there wasn't much pain from the surgery but I did have pain with eating which was unexpected. I M up to soft food now and not having any pain!!!![/quote']

I am on day 3 post-op and the only pain I had was from the air and gass in my stomach. Walking in the hospital helped but It was pretty bad... to be honest. Now that I am home I feel much better. Gass cramps and pressure are gone. Once in a while I will get some pain in my chest of I drink a little too fast.

Also, it hurts down around my left side when i take a deep breath in. I'm using the incentive spirometer and walking so I don't know why that is. Maybe not walking enough?I saw where one girl wasn't having any pain on day 3! I wish that was me. It's also hard to sleep because I can't get comfortable. I'm a side sleeper and when I sleep on my back it hurts. Oh and waking up with headaches. Maybe the way im trying to sleep because when i sit up they kind of go away. Is anyone else having these problems?

I had headaches as well. I didn't think they we're related since I didn't know of anyone else getting them. But then someone pointed out it could be dehydration since they went away once I could got more fluids down. I never had incision pain, just gas and when drinking cold liquids.

Thank you. And me too. I know when I've had enough to drink. I know we all heal differently so I guess I'll go on that. I'm also the biggest hypochondriac in the world so every little thing is gonna bother me :)

I was sleeved on 7/11 and since the 5th day post-op I havent had a problem getting my shakes down. Also' date=' just started yesterday on my soft/pureed foods and seem to be able to eat more than I thought. I made eggs last night and ate about 1/2 cup. Today I had cottage cheese and was almost able to finish one of those small single servings. I don't get sick, I just feel full and stop. I am worried that it's too much???? I thought it would be harder than this. Should I be concerned???[/quote']

I had surgery the same day. I really thought it would be harder too. I'm not having any problems eating or drinking.

I had the same problem getting comfortable to sleep. Someone suggested propping a pillow behind my back and one under my stomach to sleep on my side. It worked for me. Hope you're feeling better soon. I was sleeved on July 22.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
