Pics- scars, skin, and stretch marks...OH MY!

Recommended Posts

Hello! When I started out I tried to research what my body and scars might end up looking like after surgery and there wasn't much out there. I promised myself I would post pics for other people researching these things...no matter how embarrassing lol I took pics from all angles (front, side, back) to give a full account. These pics are in no way flattering but... hey, I look pretty good with clothes on, so I'd take all this over being my former obese self any day ;) lol

Heres my stats for reference: 5'2", 34 yrs old, current weight 152, starting weight 217, starting BMI 39, 8 months out from surgery, surgeon Dr Kelly, 5 scars total. I still have about 20-25 lbs to lose. My loose skin is the worst on my tummy and thighs. I had to take my bra off to show my 5th scar (but I tried to cover up the girls the best I could), so there are bra marks under my breasts and around my torso. Those are not scars. I know those familiar with the surgery would know that, but those just starting out might not.

Wow!!! You are so lucky to still have a butt!!! Mine is flat and saggy!!!

Mine is too! I've always had a little butt (compared to the rest at least), but losing 100 lbs made it even less. I have to buy junior size jans cuz womens sizes make them droopier. I tell everyone that I'm a marshmallow being held up by 2 toothpicks! What a visual, huh?

Wish my butt was a little rounder. And the top part of me a little smaller...

I think you look awesome.. Thanks for posting the pics. Extra skin is a big worry for me.. if I end up in your boat (minus the boobs, well.. and the bra and panties cause well, I'm a guy) I will be happy with it.. I'm so worried I will have to get another surgery to fix it, and I really don't want the body lift.

I am looking for people to connect with that are 4-5 years out. Many of the support sights I go to are all newbies. And while I enjoyed that when i first had my surgery and found it useful, I am looking to exchange ideas with folks that are out a few years. I am slowly gaining weight back and losing my excitement. I don't want that!

How do you stay focused? I'm struggling a bit the past three days.  All I want is sweets and carbs.  I have no clue what changed but for some reason I'm craving hard.  I'm literally dreaming about food and when I wake up, I'm thinking about my next meal.  I'm not "hungry" but so munchy.  I'm trying to stay focused, busy, exercise and the likes but this looking struggle is getting to be so hard.  I meet with my nutritionist tomorrow and I'm so hopeful she has some advice.  My protein intake is great, liquids on point, even throwing in some raw veggies and berries to curb the sweet/carb craving.  Thoughts?

Slowly going back to old habits, which is not good. How have others stayed the course and kept losing to achieve goal weight?
