NORMAL!

I never had actual regret, but I did have some freakout over the fact that the majority of my stomach was rotting in a Mexican bio-dump somewhere. Also when you're not eating for so long, you start to feel like it's never going to end and you can't face another sickening sweet Protein shake.... food is a VERY emotional thing for a lot of us. When someone interferes with my ability to have it, I get extremely emotional.. I cried on more than one occasion during my PRE-OP because I couldn't have what I wanted. I felt so stupid, but this is reality.

Also remember that your body has been through a huge physical trauma. Take it easy and cut yourself some slack. You are completely normal and this will pass and you'll be rocking your sleeve in no time.

Houston17,

I couldnt stand the sweetness either so I used plain koolaid powder, instant Decaf coffee, or plain cocoa powder in them to cut that and it works great! sugar free Jello powder also works but is a little sweeter. :D

I am feeling the same way...I just had mine done on 4/8 and I'm trying really hard not to be negative, but all of a sudden I just get freaked out about was this the right choice, and is this really healthy? People I work with who have had it done seem so happy...so I'm really hoping it gets better. It doesn't help that it is so difficult to get all the Water and Protein in. I want to do everything I'm told, but my body isn't listening. I'm having a really hard time sleeping at night as well, as I keep having nightmares, and that too, I hope passes. We just have to stay strong and believe that it will get better!

Stef it's ok it will get better I assure you. If you look on here everyone has felt the same way. But when you heal you will be so glad you had it done. You are only 5 days out you can't expect to be better in five days. If you can't drink all that much who cares just do what you can. You will adjust. Expect your side to hurt for at least a month. Some stop sooner some stop later. It will stop. What you are going through is normal. Just hang in there. Remember its a journey. Also in the words of us past fat people you can only eat that whole pizza one bite at a time. So give it time. Oh and you will never be able to eat another whole pizza again!!!! Isn't it wonderful!

It really does get better, and this range of symptoms and feelings are pretty typical. One thing I've found to be true - no two people have the same experience. We are all unique in the way we respond to surgery, both physically and emotionally. I remember reading all these threads about people going back to work in a week or two, and I wondered if there was something wrong with me. Turns out it was just my unique experience.Just focus on following your plan and staying hydrated, and before you know it, the time has passed and things start looking up. Good luck!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
