Dynamo~Well, I think I have both...LUCKY me!! I think it started as sinus stuff, then it dropped to my chest and then it was a chest cold, bronchitis thing...I used to get it quite often. Anytime I get a cold, it turns into bronchitis. I took a bunch of meds and used my inhaler and I am feeling much better tonight...ahhhh, I can breath without a coughing spasm! Before I was in a funk, just feeling low and stressed about stuff and now I am just sick! I am over all the drama and the germs!...LOL

Tomorrow is another day and I will wake up ready to take it on!!!

Then Friday is my fill day...yippeee!

Hello FriendsSending you all warm greetings this morning. I am back to work so that's why I have been away for several days. I love being back here. I missed my comrades here and am looking forward to the kids being back. School begins for them on Monday. Will share an OA thought for the day. I have my next session with my therapist this afternoon.Step One: We admitted we were powerless over food --- that our lives had become unmanagable. It may be that you have been denying your problem with food for years. It may be that you have been denying your problem with food for years. Do you eat alone, when no one can see how much you consume? Do you hide stashes of goodies where only you can find them? Have you ever finished a complete dinner and headed for the kitchen or the nearest food store to gulp down the quivalent of several more dinners? To admit that we are powerless over food is difficult for most of us. What our instincts seem to demand is more power of every kind, not less. And food--the source of physical nourishment-- seems such a good and necessary part of our existence. How can something so basic and so indispensable lead us astray? There is nothing wrong with food but there is something wrong with us when we cannot stop eating once we get started. The first STEP to the recovery OA promises is to recognize that we are indeed incapable of managing our behavior when it comes to food. Further, we admit that the disorder created by our compulsive overeating has spilled over into other areas of our lives, making them generally unmanageable. How can you manage your life if you don't know when you will be laid low by the next binge? From: Twelve Steps for Overeaters: An Interpretation of the Twelve Steps of Overeaters Anonymous. Lap Dancer - you are doing a good thing going to therapy. Man, I wish the whole process was as easy as it seemed a month ago, but now I am into the nitty-gritty of the lifestyle changes too. Thanks goodness my band is tight and I have to chew and sip not stuff and gulp. I sometimes hate the band, but love it too. I did turn back to eating to comfort me when my art partner's mother fell yesterday. We have our big launch on Saturday, and I was trying to figure out how to do the show alone. Worrry.....worry.....eat. But I logged my munching and 1560 was my calorie count, not bad for a binge, and I was AWARE of every bite. Perhaps, next time, and there will be a next time, I will be able to comfort myself with something else. Best wishes, therapy and OA are necessary.

Mal - so sorry you are suffering. I hope you get some drugs if it is bacterial. How is your son doing? Are you taking care of yourself, even with the cold, broncitis, sinusitus.......?

Woofay - hope to see you up there on Saturday. You and your hubby will have a great time. Breck is the best in summer. Cooler clean air is amazing. I always wonder at the stars. Where did they all come from?

Hugs all and wish me luck on Saturday,

Michelle

Dynamo~ I'll be there on Saturday. My mom is watching the kids and I am looking forward to acting like an adult for a day. You'll get better at thwarting a binge. It all takes steps and time and you know it occured. You counted it all out, and really it wasn't bad. Its practice and awareness. You're doing great. I don't binge as much as I like to eat all day. :) (although I have before)

As for this fill~ lordy it feels tight! I pb'd everything yesterday. So I had ice cream last night (I know!) and it went down. Then I had some Tomato Soup. It went down. Tried to see if today was any better, but it's not. So I had some oatmeal and it did go down, without hurting. Yeah! I do know that it will get easier as it leaks. At least fluids go down this time! Hee hee! I think I'll have him put less in it during surgery. More like 1.3cc. This is just a bit too restricted for me.:omg: It's more like having your jaws wired shut so you can't eat than just being restricted.

Mal~ are you feeling better?

Lap Dancer~congrats on your progress! You're doing great!

Mare5569~how are ya doing? Recovering well, I hope!

Littleroo1~I don't know if the crown center is a hotspot or not. The Hampton Inn, which is like a block up the road, next to the place you are staying, is. I used my computer there the whole time. You could probably call them and find out. Are you freaky excited?

Hey Woofay! I am very excited - I had my call with Paula today. We're actually staying at the Holiday Inn. Everytime I called the Hampton Inn, I got the "new girl" and she didn't know anything about a medical rate or anything. She also wouldn't give me a mini fridge unless I had the suite so I moved on to the other hotel that Marilyn gave me. If my DH has to read a magazine or book while I'm in surgery, I think he'll live! LOL

Mal - getting sick in the summer is the worst... ugh! Have fun at your fill tomorrow!

Lap_Dancer - thank you for posting your OA information! It really gets me thinking.

Dynamo - Good luck Saturday! No worries, OK??

Well I am finally in band land. I am excited, but as with all new things, somewhat scared. Surgery went great other than feeling like I wanted to go back home during the preop stage. The shot of Heparin hurt enough that When it came to the IV it was no big deal

I got really sick to my stomach during the preop, already had the patch on my neck, but they gave me something else before I went in and again before I woke up. Decided to use the Phenagren last night just for safety.

The surgery was over before I knew it. Dr. K fixed a hiatal hernia while he was in there. Now, if anyone asks, why my behaviour is even more strange than usuall, I cn say I had Hernial surgery.

I slept really well last night and again this AM. I am not having any troubel with juice and popscycles. I didn't take the prescription medicine for pain today but think I will take a dose for bedtime.

You guys ROCK!! Thanks for rembering me

Marilyn

Hello Everyone, I haven't been around for a couple of weeks and wow, lots of catching up to do.. I had my phone conference with Dr K the other day.. He is such a good man... He was so helpful in explaining in detail the diagrams that was emailed to me.. He took his time and answered all of my questions.. I felt so at ease after talking to him...

Even though my surgery isn't until October, I know that everything will be ok but I'm still getting nervous. I keep reading what Lap Dancer wrote from her OA and it is so true. Thank you very much for posting it for us.

How was the lunch at the Red Robin? Hope that it went well for all of you....

Hey Marilyn-- :clap2: It's good to hear from you and I'm glad you're doing so well! I know you're relieved to have the sugery behind you. Keep us posted.

Nickanut -- Good to hear from you, too! I felt the same way when I had my consult with Dr. K. In fact I told him that I felt like I already knew him.

Dynamo, what are these painted ladies you're talking about? I would love to see a photo. Is there one in the thread somewhere? (I'm too lazy to look through all 100+ pages again.)

Hope you're feeling better soon, Mal; those summer respiratory infections are the worst.

:notagree Nighty, night everyone. Sweet dreams to all.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
