Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

Hi Shesha, Boy! Fox Park really brings back some memories! We used to go up there for the day when my 2 older boys were little, it's been a really long time because they are now 23 and 25, I started really young ;)haha, lol. Did you tent it or do you have a camper? It sounds fun, I can't believe that I've been off of work all summer and I have'nt even gone for a walk! I need to get off my f_t a_s and do something, I know that I have to get moving to be able to get and stay near my goal.(someday) Anyhow I'm happy to hear that your band is working again:clap2:I finally am filled to 2.5cc's and have some restriction now. Every once in awhile I get stuck and slime but never throw up, I always tease that my body would never give up the food! Same thing with all my pregnancies, I would get nausiated but never get sick. Sorry I just ramble and have a hard time writing my thoughts, Take Care, Sunnysea

Well, I had my official weigh in and I am down another pound. I weigh 192 and can smell the 180's. Isn't that funny?

My weekend went well. Painting ladies up the ying yang, driving myself crazy over this show on Saturday in Breckenridge. If we do well, our company will be launched, otherwise everyone will have crazy ladies for presents.

I camped once on Lake Superior or Michigan when I was at Interlochen in Traverse City, Michigan. Some sand dunes and ice cold Water. it was heaven getting out of those practice huts.

Hugs all -

Michelle

My consultation with Dr. K was great - I got the green light for surgery on 9/5! I'm meeting with Paula on Thursday and I guess I better figure out when my 10 days of pre-op diet starts!

Hello all!

I had a bad day. Somehow, I lost some restriction and was able to eat more than I have been lately. I just logged my food on Fitday and WAY too many calories/carbs!! YIKES!!!

Back on the wagon tomorrow!!!

It looks like everyone is doing well.

DynamoMini - Congrats on that pound. Doesn't it feel good???

Mal - I am sorry you have a cold!! And in August. That's crazy. Drink some hot tea, take some nyquil and hit the sheets - for beddie by that is!

Sunnysea! - That is so funny you've been to Fox Park. You wouldn't believe how low the Water is. Have you been down M35 lately? I can remember the waves lapping at the road. Now, the shoreline is 100 yards away. Pretty sad. The water was SUPER warm though, which is unusual, so we did a lot of swimming. It's so nice there. Such clear water, a nice sandy bottom! It's like the ocean without the salt and the sharks!!

To the rest of you, congrats on starting your journey. You'll be in bandland in no time!

Inez - what is happening? Why the loss of focus? You didn't explain much in your post so it is hard to know how to answer you plea for help. You know you deserve a healthy life. We all suffer from compulsive overeating. It is an addiction. When it is under control, we feel normal and good, when it is out of control, we feel really bad about ourselves. The band is only a tool, we have to do the headwork. Tell us more, maybe we can help.

Best wishes,

Michelle

Hello, My People! :girl_hug: I saw the good doc. And as predicted, there's a leak. (like being empty last fill wasn't enough:biggrin1:) It's pretty slow though. Last tuesday he had 1.6 cc in there. Today there was only 1 cc in there. So he filled me back up to 1.6 and scheduled the surgery to fix it. So that's less than .2 cc leak per day. Guess that's why it's still working fairly well for me. Only empty for the week before I've been going in for a fill. So, Sept 10th at 9 am I'll be fixed. (not like that, silly!:dog: ruff! )

Shesha and Drewslou~ Thank you so much for all your info. I appreciate it more than you'll know. (I'm such a baby sometimes! :nervous)

Mal~ hope that head cold is clearing!

Dynamo~ paint, paint, paint! :D:)

Littleroo1~congrats on your date! You'll be on your way soon!

Sunnysea~Great to hear from ya!

Lap Dancer~ where are ya? Hope that all is well for you!

Have a great night!:notagree

Inez - I think going back to Dr. K is the right move. A fill, and a renewed commitment to yourself and your health. You deserve a healthy life. Remember that. Good for you doing that cardio. I think the caloric intake has to get reduced and/or exercise increased as you lose weight. It is lousy, but our bodies keep adjusting to our intake. Hope the Dr can help. Come to our support group September 4th or 11th at Red Robin. More to come later.

Woofay - so sorry about the complication. Let us know the details, I want to be there for you. Hugs!

Mal - where are you? Are you feeling better?

Hugs all, yes I'm painting, painting, painting.

Woofay~So, your gonna be fixed?...LOL too funny! Sept 10th, will you be going back to the Crown Center for that? So where is the leak?...your port, the tubing or the band? Keep your positive mindset, things will work out fine!

Dynamo~I am still around, still sick, sick, sick!! I always get a summer cold/sinus thing and boy does it suck! I hope you are finished with your ladies, I'm sure they will sell like crazy, they are awesome! You are so very talented!! How's your fill treating you? I can't wait for mine on Friday, I have been soooo hungry and able to eat way more than I should!

Mare~We will all be there to hold your hand today! Chat at ya' on the other side! Havea great day!

Inez~55 pounds is a great accomplishment! Hopefully all you need is a fill and a few good words from the Doc. and maybe have a chat with Paula too. Keep us posted.

Lap~I hope you are treating yourself kindly...we miss hearing from you. I didn't make the OA meeting last Saturday, how are your meetings going? I am still thinking about it.

Marcy~how are ya? How's the crab and salmon??

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
