I went in for my fill and my dr discussed with me putting in 2 cc's rather than the 1 he has been doing. So, I said lets go for it...and I'm telling myself, after I'm off liquids again, that I'll need to really slow down in my eating and chew! I fall into old habits but I have to say, its not as bad as it was, pre-band.

Anyway, according to the dr. I've lost 4 pounds over the past 6 weeks and am a "little behind" in their tally of 1-2 #per week.

Everyone is doing such a great job! I feel exactly the same way about people thinking that surgery is the easy way out. I guess they aren't in the gym with me everyday (well 5-6 times a week) or making proper food choices with me. Or with me when stuff that I used to eat gets stuck and nothing will work for that meal, so you just go hungry and try again later. Or on days when everything will work. I love my band but I sure wish she'd make up her mind on what I can and can't eat any given day.

This wasnt the easy way out. This was a tool and we still have to make sure and eat the right things and get to the gym or this tool can fail.

Sorry, it's been on my mind and stuck in my craw too!

I had to do a quick reply off of this one...

Renee!, my band-day buddy, I was just wondering how you were doing. I had to laugh when I saw that we are currently at the same amount of weight loss...although, I'm just getting closer to where you actually started out.

You're doing great.

I have been lurking around here, reading everything thats written but didn't have much to add! I am doing well. Finally got proper restriction and the weight it cming off nicely. I am hoping to hit the 50lb mark tomorrow. I am struggling to find energy for my workouts though. I need to make a point to have some Protein later in the the afternoon so I can get a workout in. How have you been?

I was okay, coasting along. I've got to pick up my excercise routine. As another poster mentioned, I've been going when I could fit it in. Partially because of my schedule. I'm on my way to work before the gym opens up, and then most evenings I'm either teaching, singing, or at a meeting. It's been crazy, but it changes next week.

Other then that, I'm not at a good fill. I was putting off getting another fill until after my trip at the end of June, but I might not make it that long. I can eat way more then I should, not that it's anywhere near what I was eating before...but everything goes down without much of a problem. The only thing I have problems with is my first bite in the mornings. I've never slimed or had a PB. From time to time, I feel a little pressure around my mid section, but that's usually when I'm not eating. I've yet to really feel that "satisfied" feeling that I had right after surgery. Even with the two fills I had, within 24-36 hrs it was gone.

OK,

I need help here. I'm trying to decide if I should get another fill. I currently have 2.5cc (2 fills) in a 4cc band. I can pretty much eat anything I want. I do stay away from white bread or just eat the crust. Any bread toasted goes down just fine. But for the most part I just stay away from it. I can not eat nearly as much as before banding, but can still eat too much. I can't seem to get motivated. I have been stalled out for quite a while. So this is why I thinking about another fill. I'm just worried that I will start to have problems like PB'ing, sliming or pain. So far, I have not had any problems AT ALL. I want restriction without the bad side effects. So anyone have any thoughts? If I could just see the scale go down, I think I could get more motivated. At least it doesn't go up, right?

Dee

I say get a fill too! I can eat pretty much anything and don't have issues as long as I chew. I can only eat a few bites of anything. If I truly listen to my body I am satisfied and I stop eating. I have lost 13 lbs since my fill 3 weeks ago. I haven't tried bread though. Pasta and rice work fine.

I agree......but in the end it still has to be your decision. It shouldn't be really hard to maintain. The way I see it, you got the band to succeed so don't be afraid of success!! Good luck with whatever you decide and let us know how it goes!

Thanks!! I've actually hit 65#'s lost now....my body is so weird! I go through about 3 weeks of gaining and losing about 3 or 4 pounds and then WHAMMO....in 1 week I lose 10 pounds! At first it really bothered me but have learned it's just how I lose weight. I had to work all weekend also, driving a tractor on our farm. One big NSV for me was that pre-band I would head out for an 8-10 hour day on the tractor with a cooler full of lunch food and Snacks so I wouldn't "starve to death". Caught myself going this time with a Southbeach Diet High Protein granola bar and 2 waters...and beleive it or not, I didn't die of hunger!!!

Hope everyone is doing well, need to head to bed. Going to check out a new swimming suit store tomorrow morning, mine isn't exactly fitting anymore!:clap2:

Hi All! Well, it's taken me a while, but I finally have it going in the right direction again. Was going sideways for 2 months- trying to "half do it" and depending on the band to make it easy. I needed to get my head "right", that this really is just a tool. I know it's cliche, but it took time to really see that I needed to go deeper with the cuts and make the ultimate commitment that anything less would never work. I have reduced my calories to 800-1,000 per day and upped my treadmill to 1 - 1 1/2 hours every day! For me, any less will not do. The good news is that for the first time in my life I can live with those numbers without wanting to eat paint off the walls. I put off my third fill for a few weeks in order to see more success. Imagine, me... oh impatient one, willing to slow down and get it right.

I have had one sliming/Pb event- eating a piece of chicken on the fly while preparing a party in my home- hope it never happens again.

4 months well spent. Thank you all. When I was down about not making progress I got a lot of support from everyones posts. I had been so disappointed about not losing more, but am feeling reinvigorated by having success from the consitent effort of the last few weeks.

I hope you are all well! Would love to hear from Gigi8, Sherrilynn, Thatgirl and other 1/30 and 1/31 buddies!

Kim, I admire you for excercising every day!! That's the one thing I've failed to do lately. Since the weather turned off nice and I'm outside so much I haven't "made the time" to get in an exercise routine going. Also, haven't worked on keeping track of calories like in the beginning. Guess I need to take a page from your playbook and get working on those things!! Thanks for keeping us updated and good luck!!

5jacks- What a super result you are having. Congratulations on such a great loss! Happy Summer.

About exercise-The thing that helps alot is that I hooked up Tivo to a small flat screen television in front of my treadmill! It's ME time, doing something I have come to enjoy (and surprisingly enough, look forward to- that's another first) watching something I look forward to seeing (as opposed to what just happens to be on and doesn't hold my interest) Last night I walked for almost 2 hours because I got into a few good shows! I don't usually have that kind of time, but nice to take it on a weekend if I can.

Have a great day!

Am I the only one who checks this thread at least once a day? I can't beleive we've been demoted to the 3rd page!!! Someone please get this started again....give us your updates, good or bad, someone will be able to relate!

My loss is at a standstill.....this happens every month so not going to worry yet!!

Does anyone have a really good set of scales? Mine vary constantly....my husband's work has platform scales that are acurate to the tenth of an ounce. He's been checking the difference between theirs and ours since the beginning of this journey, and this week for some reason ours is showing about 4 pounds heavier than ever before. Need new scales!!!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
