January Bandsters???

Recommended Posts

Yes, January Bandsters, we need to get back to the first page. And we need to communicate to support and boost each other along the way.

I'm walking three miles in the morning and I started a food journal yesterday. I need to get a good calorie counter book so I can track carbs and Protein. I also have focused on my Water consumption trying to get my appropriate amount in. I've not been good on changing the eating dinner late. I work until 7 on Monday and Tuesday and then have about 35-45 minute drive home. I could snack at 4-4:30 but that just doesn't seem to inspire me! Suggestions, anyone?

Good to hear from you!! I need to start back journaling my food intake. Also need to get back to exercising. As for the calorie books.....try checking out used book stores. When I started all this, the books I had didn't have Protein counts, so found one for 1.50 at the Thrifty Reader....a store that buys and sells used books. They had an entire section of different options, calories, carbs, sodium, protein, etc. Good luck, I've gotta go, have about 40 acres of hay to rake in about an hour and lots to do before then!

I am losing my weight very slow. I have only lost 18 lbs so far. I am having a hard time with arthritis pain so it is holding me back from working out as hard as I like. I injured myself working out 2 weeks ago and had to take a week off. I am back now but I am doing walk away the pounds and yoga instead of my total gym. I will start back on my total gym in about a month when I build more muscle and build up my tendons around my knees. Sorry I don't post here much. I will try to keep in contact more often.

Am I the only one who checks this thread at least once a day? I can't beleive we've been demoted to the 3rd page!!! Someone please get this started again....Does anyone have a really good set of scales? Mine vary constantly....my husband's work has platform scales that are acurate to the tenth of an ounce. He's been checking the difference between theirs and ours since the beginning of this journey, and this week for some reason ours is showing about 4 pounds heavier than ever before. Need new scales!!!

I recently bought the Salter 926 Lithium Glass Scale: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FE5Q7S/105-8817603-7147664]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FE5Q7S/105-8817603-7147664[/ame]

It's been very consistent. I bought 2 other scales before this one and returned both because they fluctuated so drastically. One was a Weight Watchers scale and it did not even get within a 100 pounds of my actual weight! One minute I was 326 lbs and next I was 25 lbs. Complete piece of crap. But I've been very happy the new Salter scale.

In all honesty, I have not been on here as much because this site has been painfully slow since the ads appeared. It's too frustrating to use most days. It often takes 2-3 minutes to just go from one page to the next. And posting a message takes even longer.

Hello all, I've been out of town and back now. I'm so frustrated with my dr. office I could scream!

I went on 5/15 to get another fill, the doc said yes you need another fill and they would be calling me to set up an appointment. A few days later I get a call from them and they set me up for 5/25 to get my 3rd fill at the radiology center at a hospital. I go on that date, I set there for over an hour, and then the doc comes out to tell me that they failed to get my preapproval from my insurance company, so they need to get that before he could do my fill. Okay, nough said. The doc office calls me back that same day and appologizes and said they requested it from my insurance and it should be a few days.

Here I sit, 11 days later and I hear NOTHING. I've left 4 or 5 different messages and not one of those have been returned! I am scheduled for another doc appointment on the 22nd and let me tell you, if I don't get a return call by then, the doc is going to hear it from me. Matter of fact, there is a support meeting on the 11th and I'mj going to make sure I attend to ask the doc why I can't get a retunr call from his office for a fill - I'm sure there will be lots of newbies there and maybe he can give me an answer! I'm so pissed right now!

Okay, enough venting. Besides not getting my fill, I'm doing okay, weight is fluctuating from 182 to 184. This morning it was 183.6. So, I'm holding steady I guess. I'm still exercising religeously.

Okay,

I just had an eye opener. I stated before that I was going to start my food jounal and write down every thing that goes in my mouth. Well, for yesterday, I wrote it all down and just tallies up the calories, as best as I could figure, using an online calorie counter. I couldn't get my Protein Powder online but I will check when I get home. I am at 1100...and I thought I was sooooo low in my calories. I was in the appropriate range of Protein and drank my Water like a good girl. So, maybe that explains why my weight has been up and down the last four pounds....I am eating the proper things...but I think I need to come down bit more in my calories... Just for now. I know that 1100 isn't bad...but I just thought I was hovering around 800 a day. DUH.

Sula....Isn't it amazing how fast the calories add up!!

It's so good to hear from everyone!

Sunshine.....Know what you mean about the fill. Sounds like your maintaining though so that's good for now. I passed on the fill during the last dr. visit....wishing now I wouldn't of. For some reason during the middle of the month I get really hungry and can eat anything without any problems. We'll get it fine tuned before too long! 64# is still fantastic!!

Babygotback....good to hear your doing well. Thought you had left us!

Enterprise.....thanks for the info on the scales, ready to try about anything!

Hi everyone,

I went to the my family dr. last week. I don't know if I told you all but I'm having problems with Hair loss. They did a whole bunch of blood tests and I found out today that I am not doing well with B12. Starting tomorrow I need to take one shot per week for at least one month and then one per month after that. Is anyone else having this problem? I also have to take one Biotin Vitamin pill per day. What do all of you think?

Thanks,

Sue

Sue, I thought I was the only one having more hair loss than usual. Specifically, what test did they do that found out that B12 was the problem? My blood tests have shown low Protein, and I have upped my supplements. I don't think they checked for B12 though.

I went for my fourth fill today that brings me to a total of 2.0 cc. I have taken the slow and conservation route on fills. I wasn't sure I wanted another fill because I do have some problems if I eat too fast, and don't chew, chew, chew. But when I eat slow and chew really well, I can eat more than I should.

My daughter is getting married in July, so I wanted to kick start my weight loss after a 3 week stall. We are going on a cruise too, so I don't want to overdo it. I hope this small increase in fill will help just a little without getting me stuck too much or pb'd.

I come here to read your posts about once a week, and haven't posted myself because I didn't feel I had too much to contribute. Mostly everything has gone well. I hit my first plateau and am ready to lose more.

If anyone wants to know - I would have the surgery again in a heartbeat!

Terry

I am also having really bad hair loss. I have had a blood test to check my Iron and sugar level and that is fine so the dr said that it is just my body going into shock at the low amount of calories I am eating and the weight loss etc. Im giving it another month then going back to the dr but it is freaking me out how much hair I am losing when I wash it ;)

What Vitamins are you taking? I am having real trouble finding good chewable tables.

Sue - the good thing about B12 shots is it really boost your energy and matabolism - I take a daily dose of the liquid B-12.

I have had no hair loss at all so far, however,I have a really thick head of hair, and I usually have to have it thinned everytime I get a cut. So a little hair loss might not be noticable on me, and I might have not even noticed it.

My mom had problems with hairloss and her doc told her to take biotin and it helped her, but she had to take a lot of it for it to help, like 3 or 4 pills a day.

The good thing about it is, there are no bald lap bandsters walking around, so the hairloss will grow back and should stop shortly.

Sula,

Sorry to hear about your Hair loss. It is a good reminder to me to take my Vitamins. I haven't been taking them for the last month or so (duh!) so I appreciate you sharing your troubles and I hope that the B12 will help. I know it will give you more energy.

I haven't checked this thread in a while (it is hard to find sometimes) but I glad to see everyone is doing so well. Isn't funny to remember when we were pre-banded and just banded and we checked the boards all of the time because we were nervous! Now we are approaching our 6 month Bandiversary's - Wow -

I have a goal of 60 lbs by the 6 month date - has anyone else put a goal in place for their 1/2 a year mark?? I just started a really low carb program to get a jump start along with my exercise program to help me meet my goal.

cdgmom - I have a goal of 70lbs by my 6 month mark. I'm at 66 pounds now, so I think I might be able to pull it off! But maybe not, my weightloss has now turned to a stall.

I know TOM is around the corner, so hopefully after that is gone I can see a drop. I'm also putting on some muscle so I think I'm losing inches. I'm wearing a size 12 skirt today, yippie!

I started a local support group in my town, we had our first meeting on Monday. So, I met 3 other women from my hometown that has had the lap band surgery. I belong to bandsters@yahoo.com & Oklahomabandsters@yahoo.com, both of these groups give great advice. One of the ladies in my support group was banded in December, she is also a nurse and really has some great advice. She has lost around 70 lbs now I believe. So the support group should be a great motivator for me. We are going to meet the first Monday of every month, we think as time goes on we'll get some additional members.

I'm just trying to keep my motivation - something I usually lose after a few months, but so far, I've kept it going strong with the lap band. I think because I really know this time I will lose the weight and this will work!

I check this site a couple of times a day for the simple reason that it motivates me. And I also think it is part of my pay it forward to help motivate others. It also provides some humor at times! And this is my support group, which helps keep me on track. Someone said here, that a suport group enhances your success at WL. So, I'm going to use this to get to my goals.

It think it would be great for all the january bandsters to post on their six month anniversary. I recall the one year for a group last year and it was very inspiring.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
