So' date=' I just thought I'd update my status on this thread. I reached goal yesterday. It took 2 years and 23 days, but I finally hit 225 pounds lost. I started at 375 and now weigh 150. Slow? I guess that depends on how you look at it. I didn't lose it all in a year and I didn't stop when it got hard, but I did it.

And wow! You have lost a tremendous amount of weight and look great! Congrats on finally reaching goal. What an inspiration to people that get frustrated when they aren't at goal within a year, and also to the folks the have more than 100 pounds to lose. Simply amazing work - congrats!!

The thread was moved into a group. It's certainly not any attempt to exclude anyone - I think we just wanted to carry on with conversations that were a little more private.

Can we join the group? How?

We've been excluded lol..

There were a lot of concerns of people newly out of surgery or less than year out trying this method instead of following their surgeons guidelines as well.

You can join the group, but they have put some rules in place. You need to be a year out from surgery and have committed to trying the 5:2 method to see if you like it. You can request to join and one of the moderators has to approve you.

My newest pic from today @ 147 pounds ...I am thinking 22 lbs more to go but I would still be happy with 12 more lbs :)

I am pretty new, I was sleeved on June 5th. So far I have lost 22 lbs at the 6 week mark. I seem to be losing about 2 lbs a week now. I am thrilled with this rate of loss.

Keep this thread going! I want to see as many stories as possible that reflect the moderate and downright slow pace some of us experience.

I'm three years out. I lost slowly. In fact, I'm sloooowly shedding the last couple pounds of baby weight. It's just as aggravatingly slow and painful as it was to lose the first time.

But is the woman in these pictures any less a success for taking longer? NO.

I want this thread full of good stories so that I can spam every freakout post about stalls or slow loss I see with a link to it, to say "See?! It happens, relax!" ;)

I do not want this to be a Yay Cheri thread - I want to see OTHER stories here, too! Contribute, please!

Cheri - you look amazing!!! I love all of your posts - you have the calm voice in the sometimes chaotic chatter.

I lost pretty quickly at the very beginning of the process, but have been a 'slow loser' for 4 months now and I am OK with that.

I have committed to this way of eating and exercising for the rest of my life - and like anything in life, I know there will be ups & downs.

I'm 9 pounds from goal - at 8 months out from surgery. Losing .2 or .4 and holding for a week or two at a time. My WLS team says I might go down a little bit from that by 1 year out then gain a bit back and stabilize.

I'd like to be stable at 140, and firm up my abs a bit. I don't think I'll have any plastics on my stomach or legs, but have a consult scheduled in 2 weeks for info on a breast reduction/lift. Want to have several months to sock away the $$ for the surgery. Maybe down the road, 2 years out I'll have my arms done, but right now I am Ok with them.

Your baby is beautiful and she looks so happy.

Thank you for this thread!!! I started at 248 and now at 197lbs, 51 pounds in five months was sleeved 1/28/13 and so much happier and healthier once I started going to the gym my body loved it and the pounds where flying off now it seems like its taking a break and that's ok with me because I started at a size 18 and now a size 12 so my body is still losing inches even if I don't move on the scale, just keep eating clean and working out, being healthy does not have an expiration date or a goal weight that you can stop being healthy. Stay strong it's hard I know, but remember its hard to be fat too and I rather fight to be healthy. On bad days I try on clothes that never fit before and tell myself to just push through it.....

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
