Hi everyone!! Im set for October 12th at 9:30am. I am pumped. I started my liquid diet yesterday. SOOO far so good. I am proud of myself that I havent cheated. It is actually my bday today too, and no cake for me...YUM YUM YUMMY MEDIFAST!!!! LOL. I cant believe it is almost here. I just got back from a cruise, so I ate my heart out. I actually was sick of eating when I got home.. only gained 5lbs too!! I made sure I always took the stairs. I have ran into a health issue though. I had this weird mole removed and had a bad lab result. This was sent in for a second opinion. I went to see a different surgeon this week, and was told it would be a simple procedure..etc... NOT. They actually wanted to put me under. SO the best option was for me to have both things done at once..lapband, and mole thing. Well I have been blessed because my lapband surgeon is a saint and agreed to do both. I am now more nervous about my mole. It was right below my knee, and I now have to have skin grafting and lymph nodes removed from my groin area. I had the right amount of work taken off for the lapband, and now I am gonna have to do short term disability. I know everything happens for a reason, and I am positive I will be okay, but I do ask for prayers that everything will work out!! Peace and love to all!!!! and a little extra to the OCTOBER 2006 BANDSTERS

I could swear I have seen a post with a list of what previously banded folks have recommended as a surgery day supply kit. I don't remember much from the list, but it included things like Gas-X strips, etc. Can anyone either point me toward that list or come up with a new one?

Thanks much!

T-minus 10 days and counting 'til band date. :clap2:

I had to have an echo too, but only because the specialist physician found that I have a heart murmur. It's no big deal, just lie there and listen to your heartbeat for half an hour or so!

My surgeon doesn't require an upper GI either.

Yep - everything happens for a reason - good that you had your mole checked out early rather than later. You will be all fixed and living in the land of the banded before you know it. I'll be thinking of you.

I know exactly what you mean when speak of food as a friend. It's been like a grieving process for me and I'm not even banded yet! I gave up sugar first because it was my closest friend, then I gave up bread, last I gave up red meat. Along the way I dropped 12 pounds. Now I'm on the liquid diet part and it's interesting. I will say I have made the best shakes. I get unsweetened milk made from almonds with chocolate from the health food store, chocolate whey powder from Wal-Mart, and some equal. I put 12 oz almond milk, scoop of whey, one to two equals and ice. It's so good! The whey powder keeps me full, too. This drink has fewer carbs than the Slim-fast Optima and about 10 less calories and less fat. I include multi-vitamins and minerals and I'm good to go!

I am scheduled for October 12th as well. I started my preop diet today even though I really am not suppose to start until monday. I've gained extra weight during my wait and want to try to get it off.

Can't wait!!

Has anyone started their preop diet early? I'd like to do 4 weeks (instead of 2 weeks) of liquid diet in order to lose more weight but I'm worried I'll be cheating by week 3 and sabotage my liver-shrinking diet right before surgery.

I did a liquid diet for 12 weeks and then came off of it for 8 weeks, Its not so bad. I liked that I only had so many choices. It made it easy to decide what to eat. I wish I would have done that too. But now I start the 4th.

Good Luck,Mary

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
