  1. I had my first fill on Thurs 12/7. My dr. is 2.5 hrs away from my home. All the way home I felt fine. I continued to feel fine until later that evening when I tried to sip some clear broth. Then the reflux began. I suffered all night long with severe reflux and vomiting. Felt like I had a lump in my throat and I was having trouble swallowing. The only sleep I got at all that night was sitting straight up in the recliner and even then I continued to have some reflux. By morning, I realized that maybe I was too tight, so I called my dr. who had me drive back up for an unfill. Now here's my question: He put 1 cc in on Thurs. and ended up taking all of it back out on Friday. He says we will try again in January and that I have enough edema in my stomach to create restriction for awhile. Has anyone else had this happen? Am I doomed to not be able to have any fills and only rely on the band itself?
  2. What exactly constitutes clear liquids? My surgeon's office just told me that we can have anything that we can see through. But I'm thinking, I can see through beer and tequila, but surely I can't have that! Does anyone have a list of what is considered "clear?"
  3. Dr. Baker has his patients do the HMR 800 meal replacement shakes. They are not terribly bad tasting. We can add fruit or splenda to them. I am drinking orange/banana this morning.
  4. Congrats to you! I am on pre-op diet also. I am down 10 lbs too! Yay for both of us!!
  5. I too am looking forward to shopping somewhere other than Lane Bryant and Avenue. I took my daughters shopping last weekend for homecoming outfits and I thought about how in a year I could be buying cute stuff from GAP, etc. I am also looking forward to being able to ride rides at amusement parks with my kids. I know that was discussed in another thread, but I have that same problem, I'm always afraid the belt or guard bar won't fit, so I haven't rode one in years.
  6. Mari: I am looking at that same book on Amazon! What did you think of the amazon review of it?
  7. Does any one have a recommendation for a book on the lap band experience? I have seen several on Amazon, but not sure which one I should order. :phanvan

  12. Just wanted to let everyone know that I am scheduled for surgery on Oct. 18th, two days after my birthday (Happy Birthday to me!). I did my pre-op last Thurs. with Dr. Baker in Little Rock. I am sooo excited and a little scared! Any other Oct. surgeries scheduled out there?
  13. Hi Kim! Welcome! I am new too, I just joined yesterday. I Hope everything works out for you.
  14. Hello and good morning to all! My name is Lori and I joined the forum yesterday. I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. I am scheduled to have my lap band done on my birthday, Oct. 16 :biggrin1: I go tomorrow for my pre-surg consult and testing. I am extremely excited and just so ready to make a lifestyle change. I can't wait to be able to play with my kids more and have more stamina and energy for my busy life :clap2: If anyone has any advice or comments for a future bander, I would appreciate it greatly!
