October 2006 Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

October bandsters have started on their journey, hip hip horray! I had my pre-op meeting with the doc, will have my testing tomorrow. I have to have an upper GI and lab work and then teaching for afterwards.

My pre op diet is 3 carnation instant breakfasts a day, two low cal dinners like lean cuisine and then all the Water you are supposed to have. I can have low fat cheese in between if I get hungry, IF I GET HUNGRY, OH YES, I IMAGINE I WILL BE HUNGRY!

The way it looks I will not get my first fill until the first week of December or so. My journey with this has been pretty short, went to the seminar in mid August, got all my pre stuff done, then submitted to insurance and approved last month. I'm glad it has been quick though, not as much time to have all those last meals LOL!!

Take care everyone, and hold on because we have started on our way!

Hi

Please bear with me, I have NEVER joined any type of online group or discussion board before. This is so important to me, I need all the support and encouragement I can get!

I am scheduled to be banded on Oct 19th. I am excited, nervous and anxious all at the same time.

I am soooo afraid of not being successful with this.

Good luck to you all and I look forward to going through this journey with you.

Purtynailz~

My goal by January 1st is 35 pounds! I think that is attainable and realistic, and it would make me very happy!

I am being banded on the 19th. My dr. told me to start liquids 10 days prior to surgery so I'm not there yet. I would love to know what kind of Protein shakes you all have tried and like.

I know you can buy rum, banana and cocnut extract. Maybe you could try a little pina colada shake? Good luck, let me know.

btw - I think 35 lbs between now and Jan 1 sounds doable, I'm in!

My surgeon puts all of his patients on the HMR 800 Meal Replacement. 5 shakes a day and 64 oz of any non-caloric liquid. I have the vanilla and chocolate. I can add fruit, splenda etc. to the shakes. Too bad I can't add carmel... lol. I am drinking Crystal Light fruit punch today, it's pretty good. I bought the "on the go" packets and I shake it up in my bottled Water.

Man I can't remember when I have spent more time trotting to the bathroom! lol

CONGRATULATIONS CHRISPYGAL!! Woo-hoo! I hope Shelleybeans had as problem free a go of it as you did.

Maybe if you keep your feet up when you are lying down the gas shoulder pain won't be so bad. At least, that's what I remember from my two other abdominal surgeries with gas used to expand the abdominal cavity.

Ok, feeling a little nervous, I go in on Friday. I am excited, though. I have the same problems with IV's. For me, the IVs really are the worse part.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
