September Bandsters

HopeWorks,

Every surgeon is different. I get my first fill Thursday late afternoon. For the first day after a fill, liquids. The next day, mushies and then the 3rd day back to a normal solid diet. That's my surgeon's requirements.

I recommend you call your doctors office to find out.

Until you have your first fill don't get discourged about the weigh-ins. Just stay on track and if you feel like you have having trouble come back and check in. I'm sure we all feel the same way when it comes to being here on the forum. I'm here for you so use me!

Thought for the day: Remember your Water, and just one bite of a brownie, can get stuck and come right back up. Trust me it won't happen again!

Hello all, Today was my first visit with the doctor. 2 weeks after banding I lost 18 pounds.:clap2: I am excited to say the least and I realistically know that won't happen again but it is delightful. Especially since yesterday I was all over myself about even doing this, crying and telling myself I was stupid etc etc. I really am still in a not so sure mood. Thinking that I will never eat again. I mean really eat. but hopefully I won't want to... anyway I will start the Christmas challenge with a weight of 302.... anyone else having a hard time???

Sandra I suppose we all feel that way at some point and to some extreme. Just remember why you made the decission in the first place. Don't worry as you see the lbs melt away your decission will justify the means.

Ok kiddos,

I just got the courage to view a CD my doc gave me. While in surgery he found a cyst on my ovary, and wanted my doc to see it and determine what he wanted to do. It was of my surgery believe it or not!!!! I got to see the band being placed and stiched, and the FAT that has accumulated in my body for all those years.

It was so strange watching it (and trust me it took me a while to watch it cause I did'nt know what to expect.) It was the strangest thing I ever saw, and what made it more exciting was that it was my body I was viewing.

I have to say, I have a new respect for my surgeon! He is amazing. After seeing it I remembered why I got it and why I needed to lose the weight. I was amazed, so was my husband. My pouch is so small and trust me, I will not do anything, in the way of overeating again after seeing it. I was fortunate to have the CD and to be able to view it. I have a new respect for all of you on this journey and Now I know why I was so damn sore!!!!

Well, I went to support group the other night and I don't normally weigh in on Mondays, it said I had gained 5 pounds back. I weigh in this morning on my usual day and it was 1 pound lost. GRRRR!! This is frustrating. I am calling today to make my appt for my first fill. I know I need it.

Hey you guys, I am at the point where I'm getting very nervous that I'm going to gain weight. The post-surgery loss has been so fabulous. I'm definitely not losing at that rate now.

I don't want to lose ground on my journey to slimness, by gaining weight before my first fill. But my thoughts of food have returned, and I find myself eating more than I have been eating, and more than I need to be satisfied. I keep forgetting that I can eat again - when I'm hungry. I don't have to eat it ALL right now, like I did before the LB!

I keep forgetting to drink the Water too. I know that is hindering my feelings of not being hungry. Ok, so back to the water!

MOM - that's amazing that you got to see your actual innerds and surgery!! What an inspiration! I sure hope your ovary problem is resolved or will be easily taken care of.

MOM,

That had to be very surreal to see your own surgery. I can't even bring myself to watch to sample surgery on the internet, let alone my own. Although your comment about your pouch size is interesting. I might just have to see the online video.

Thanks again for maintaining the Chrismas list.

Spent three days driving from Bartlesville, OK to Washington D.C. with grandchildren and sister. What fun!!! We have spent the last 2 days sight-seeing. It has been great. We are going to start home sometime tomorrow. OK enough of that. My start weight was 288. My goal by Christmas is 263. Although if I don't stop eating the way I have been this week I won't get there. On the other hand my walking has increased tremendously. I feel much better and have walked a lot here even though I rented a scooter. Thanks for all your support. Katt

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
