Are There Any Single Sleevers Out There..

Recommended Posts

Exactly. My lament used to be "I wish people would focus on my dolphin-like personality rather than my whale-like physique".

Bwahahaha! Awesome!

I went to a guy's place last night and because we are both Protein junkies, we boiled some eggs and had them with some cheddar for our late night snack....he was gonna boil like a dozen for both of us, I said it was gonna be too much. I ate two eggs and he kept telling me to eat more, and was flabbergasted when I said I was full. "Full already?!" I just laughed it off. If this were in a restaurant setting and I got a massive steak or something, it would've been more challenging.

Oh yeah, and then later he told me my abs made him feel embarrassed about his, whereas before seeing mine he considered himself to be in pretty good shape, haha.

At one point I had the same mindset. But when I step back and take a look objectively, it's not just about what a person looks like, it's what they can do. I, for example, had pretty much turned myself into a prisoner. At 465 lbs I couldn't go to concerts because I didn't fit the seats. I couldn't go to sporting events because it was too painful to walk from the parking lot to the venue, and if I did make it, I was sweating so that I would soak through anything I wore. Now that I am slimmer and on my way to being fit, I do not want to spend my time with someone that was in the same place I was... I would much rather focus on someone that can help me continue my journey to being physically fit and living my life the way I should have been for the last 20 years. Maybe it's selfish, but I know where I was and what I couldn't do... Now that I can, I want someone that can live life with me.

I feel that way, too....I never really got so big that I was noticeably handicapped, but I certainly lead a different lifestyle now. My sleeve resulted in many more changes than simply reducing my portion sizes. I work out way more - even though I was an exerciser pre-sleeve! - I'm more active on a day-to-day basis, and date ideas such as playing badminton or renting bikes together sound way more fun now than they did 2 years ago, I'm a lot more health-conscious, so it feels more organic for me to date someone who won't be pushing me to drink alcohol or split Desserts with him at every meal.....one of the reasons I dumped my ex was because he just spent all his time off lying on the couch with his comic books and complaining about how bored he was, yet never offering any ideas for what to do together and refusing all of my suggestions. All he wanted to do was just lie around and eat crap. I used to be like that, too, but happily, I've left that in the past.

I got a book on Ebay that was for therapists with WLS patients. It said that, with relationships and marriages where the partner was heavy at the beginning of the relationship, there was an 80-85% chance that the relationship would dissolve after the weight loss that came after surgery. Hmmmm...makes you wonder, huh?

I am single and have pretty much been single my whole life except when I had my daughter' date=' couldn't do that alone lol. I found it hard to let someone else like me if I didn't like me so I pretty much stayed the "friend". Hopefully as I lose weight I will begin to like myself and allow someone else to like me or maybe love me. I was just sleeved on Mar 19 so a long way to go yet.

Sounds like you're in a much better place now, and that's what I'm looking forward to. Growing up I was extremely athletic, and played baseball, tennis, racquetball, swam on a swim team, wrestled and played football. The last 15 or 20 years I gave all that up inch by inch, pound by pound and I'm just not willing to do that anymore. I'm committed to getting back to that life, and if it means being alone till I can find the perfect fit, well that's just what it means.

BTW, you do have impressive abs :)

I was sleeved May 24th. I'm a single female. I live 20minutes of downtown Houston. Would love some companionship especially with someone who can identify with having wls.

I have a new boyfriend! I hadn't planned on dating, but decided to work on myself and focus on my weight loss instead, then bam I meet this amazing man. I avoided eating our first few dates. Then I told him of my surgery a few weeks into dating. He said he knew it was odd I wouldn't eat in front of him. Now he has been very supportive. He knows I need to stop drinking half hour before and must wait an hour after, he knows I must eat slowly, and that I get in pain if I eat too much. Hopefully, everything continues to go well.

I'm single and sleeved, not easy. Single not by choice, lost my fiance last year to cancer. Not really doing the dating thing yet, but maybe soon???? It would be nice to have people to talk to see how we all handle different situations in the single life!

I just turned 30 a couple weeks ago. I've always been single. I live in Buffalo Ny and I'm pretty sure only douches live here. Lol. But while I did this to save my life, hey, I'll take a dude too. The last few days as I think about things I think wouldn't it be neat to meet someone that has had the same surgery as me. But I would like to find love and have a family. But I have a long way to go before and guys will be interested in me.

Any Buffalo guys here. LOL!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
