The scale is moving in the right direction FINALLY!! could it be cuz I'm too tight and am not eating well??

I do get all the required calories and Protein just in liquid or mushy form

Maybe I need a slight un-fill... I just don't have the time to go to Mexico to do it *sigh*

I have been realy bad about getting with my online support. However, today I hit 50lbs lost. That is such a big deal to me! The best thing is that I know I will keep it off. Soon my DH will be deploying and that will be my real test. I usually gain 20-30 lbs while he is gone. This time my goal is to stay even. If I lose anything that will be a bonus.

I also wanted to add that after the first 10lbs or so my weightloss fell into a pattern. I will lose 1/2lb or nothing for a few weeks. Then in a week I will suddenly drop 3-5 lbs. It is not in sync with my period, so I'm not sure what is causing the pattern.

Anybody else having issues with their gallbladder?

I have heard gallbladder issues are common after being banded. I had my gallbladder removed 3 weeks after I had my twins in 2007. Worst, worst pain ever! I thought I was having a heartattack.

Hey all, just stopped by to catch up on all the posts I have missed, and drop a quick line.

I just graduated from my cna class, and will be taking state exam on the 14th of this month. I did have a slip and fall and really hurt my back, so my weight loss slowed down, because I could not exercise.

I am better now, and have been jogging an hour a day! I feel great, and am really pushing myself!

I can honestly say, that the key to this whole thing is EXERCISE!

I still journal, and write everything down, my calories per day are anywhere from 1200 to 1800...some days less!

Well gotta run(hahaha)

Kelly

I'm having my gallbladder removed on Wednesday. Thought I had avoided it because I haven't had a full blown attack, but the surgeon doesn't like the fact that I have a gallstone that is well over 3 cm big. He said it needs to come out.

I find out on Monday if I'm going to be having a hysterectomy. I'm getting discouraged. I can't seem to lose, but I'm not gaining either. I'm just stuck at the same weight.

I've figured that out too because I'm barely eating and I am not happy with my losses at all. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO slow!!

I had the flu really bad last wk and was not able to eat more than 1 cup of Soup and drink Water almost every day. I got up on Sat, to weigh myself just knowing I had dropped a ton. I had gained a lb. Save your keystrokes, I know all about how the body retains when we're not eating and all that but it's still very discouraging.

When I had my last fill the PA said that most patients that have success are gym goers. so I'm vowing this week that besides going to the gym and doing Zumba and the rest I am going to walk for at least an hour every day on my treadmill as I look at TV instead of sitting on my butt.

I'm so over all this worrying about my losses and worrying if I'll ever reach my goal I have to make it happen and push past my comfort zone.

Tylee I wish you the best with your surgeries hopefully after all is resolved you'll get back to losing. Don't worry about it just heal quickly. You've already done so well.

Tylee, hope all goes well for you. Keep your thoughts positive no matter what the surgery decision. I hear tell that we WLS folks have a higher rate of gall bladder surgeries due to our lower fat intake. I wish you the best.

Kelly congrats on finishing your class, however, very sorry to hear that you hurt your back. Hoping you are doing better and better!

LIfe is coming along for me, the weight loss (as expected) has slowed down, and I was stuck there for a few weeks at the same weight, changed up my exercise routine, went back to the basics and have finally (at least for this week) lost a few lbs! I am still happy as to the level of weight loss that I have achieved and feel ever so much better!

My surgeon didn't mention if I need to go and get an unfill before Wednesday. I have to go by his office on Monday to pay my $200 doctor's fee for the surgery, and I guess I will ask them then. I'm of the mindset right now that after all the surgeries are done, that I'm pretty much going to be starting back at square one just not any heavier. I will have to start back with the fills and all of that fun. I'm really trying to stay positive, but the last few days have just really gotten me down.

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through so much. On the bright side, you are so much healthier now and the surgeries will be much safer than they would have been before. I'm sure you already knwo that, but it really is a big deal. That's what we got banded for - to live. (((hugs)))

My husband is due to deploy in a few weeks. I atopped tracking my food for awhile andI have gained 2 lbs, but think once my TOM is passed I will level out. I have been back to tracking it for 5 days now. I use the MyFitnessPal app, and if anyone would like to add me my user name is marielblewis. I have been battling head hunger for the last two days like crazy. yesterday I ate 1800 calories which is the max I can eat without gaining. Today I am at 1000 and I haven't had dinner yet. I am going to hit up a Protein Shake and pray it helps. My calorie goal is 1200-1400 a day.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
