My family is walking in the ACS's Relay for Life this June. Relay for Life combines a lot of celebrations into one 2-day event, including an honorarium for cancer survivors, a memorial for those who lost their battle, and an overnight fundraising walk. My grandfather, grandmother, all three of my grandfather's brothers, and my mother have all been diagnosed with cancer. My mother survived ovarian cancer, the battle with which cost her uterus and both ovaries, and melanoma, which was surgically removed, and required a 25% amputation of her outer foot. My uncle survived lung cancer, but at the cost of half of his left lung. They are the only two in our family who survived…

  2. I should know the answer to this, but now I'm wondering. If you're buying shoes with an open heel - sandals, slides, mules, etc., should the edge of your heel be even with the end of the shoe, or should the shoe have extra space so that your heel stops first, then there's a bit of shoe left? Because I know that makes no sense, here: This is a pic where the heel is even with the edge of the shoe: This is a pic where the shoe has extra space (length): http://www.alistclothing.co.uk/inc/get_product.php?id=2037

Because you have lost so much weight and are doing so well by following the rules and such... I am wondering if we (me at leaste) could have this thread to ask you questions and such. I tried to search and research you, but that was very tedius. I am sorry I dont know alot of things you may have already posted. I am just looking for honest answers and oppinions. Some disscussion. Thats all. Have you ever posted or talked about your prebanding eating habits? You were 371 and have lost 135 pounds in 6 months, wow. How did the band help you do the things you couldnt do before to lose weight?

Now some things are obvious Debbie1993 has to be a Debbie born in 1993. Bandedforever loves the band (sorry if someone actually has that name... not picking on anyone). But some names are off the wall. How did you choose your name? I'll go first: Origin of Poodles: I am a big LOTR geek. Was a Miriel at one time but was turned into a Poodle during an online game by a wizard. (Yes I am a geek) My so called "friend" said I was hyper and annoying like a Poodle, so everyone started calling me Poodles. The "Tricksy" was added as an adjective, because I made excellent moves in the game (I assume). My hubby says it kinda sounds like a porn star name. I have had it fo…

It's almost impossible for me. I've been ready to settle down ever since I had my son 7 years ago, and this whole time I was looking for true love. I never found the right man though. The first guy I thought I loved knocked me up and left. The second guy had another girlfriend. The third I was with for a while and finally found out he wouldn't marry me because I was too fat and he was a bit ashamed of it. The next I actually got along with perfect but not only did he have problems with his penis, he felt he'd have to support me and my son, which was too much. The last guy I dated wanted just sex. I've met a few people from the internet and all of them were weird.…

Hi everybody I need some folks "personal experiences" advice. I am scheduled to be banded on 5/19. But yesterday I found a palpable lump in my breast. I have made an appointment to have a screening mammogram Monday. But I am going to call my PCP tomorrow because I am sure it will need to be biopsied. Now I know that 80% of all lumps are benign. There is absolutely ZERO history of breast cancer in my family. Although I know it has to start somewhere. So I am somewhat anxious to know something but not in a total panic. My question is have any of ya'll had a biopsy and how do you think it would have impacted your recovery from banding? Or anything else that you think t…

So my 10 year old has two friends that are allowed to stay home ALONE for short periods of time - 30 minutes or less. When mom needs to run to the store or pay a bill. I dont know y'all... whats the appropriate age for this? ((((Im asking because I have a job where I may have to make short (very short) delivery's in my neighborhood - just every so often. And sometimes my kids are still sleeping, getting ready for school, etc... when Im phoned to make these quick trips. Its just so much easier to jump in the car and go alone - then load the entire bus full for a 3 minute ride down the street. )))

So I made it home. I was bummed because I had to be hospitalized for a Fibroid Removal (I didn't know I had them but my plastic surgeon found them when I had my Tummy Tuck with Muscle Repair). That meant yet another scar (as if I don't have enough:rolleyes: ) plus the OB/Gyn was going to re-open the abdominal muscles that I had just had tightened during my Tummy Tuck a few months back. The fibroids were too big to be removed laproscopically or vaginally (sorry to be graphic) so it meant another abdominal surgery. But, it's over. I'm back home, thankfully. (And I'm grateful for laptops too!) It's like 3-2-1-0. Three days in the hospital (although I got to stay in t…

This is the first time we've been in something like this and it feels like we haven't done someting that we need to do. My husband was driving my car today (I worked from home) and went with 2 of his co-workers to get lunch. On the way back they were going about 40 in a 45 zone. They were halfway through a intersection (their green light) when a big huge van pulled out right in front of them, making a left turn. My husband tried to turn left to avoid the hit but there was nothing he could do. The result was a head-on at close to 30 mph. DH is OK. He has cuts on his head from where the airbags pushed his glasses into his skin. He has a bruise/abrasion on his neck …

My ex husband didn't pay child support for several years and the kids and I needed things my pay check wouldn't cover, so those credit card balances just went up and up. Now I owe about $21,000 on my credit cards and see no way in the world that I can get them paid off. My sons finally talked me into seeing an attorney who told me the same thing. My wonderful boyfriend flew out for the weekend and we had an amazing time! Heck, that I have a boyfriend (we're at about six months) is a HUGE NSV. But the one I'm talking about today is that now, at some 90 lbs down...I was able to walk EVERYWHERE in New York. I had energy that amazed even my boyfriend. (amazed me too). I just kept giving thanks and praise to Trink (my band's name) for giving me such freedom, such energy, such joy, such happiness. I got my life back and it was never more affirmed than it was on Sunday,…

I FOUND THE BEST BRA!!! I went to Torrid, which is a plus size trendy fashion store. I still can't fit into most of their clothes, but I love their lingerie. And they have a new style of bra out. Its on sale for 2 for 48. They come with clear straps and cloth straps, and the cup is thick, but not padded. I have never has so much coverage without it feeling like I was wearing another shirt. It is well made, and sturdy, and the wires feel like they are thick sturdy rods rather than those thin flimsy wires. it is amazing! I have not felt this secure since my bodice and corset wearing days when I was skinny!! If there is a Torrid in a mall near you, go check them o…

Hi out there. We're a rainy mess in New England. Not so bad where I live but last night at midnight we rescued my 82 year old mother in law from her house. In the nick of time too. The rivers around her area are rising and rising fast.:umbrella: We don't think it will get into her house but probably her basement. And it could knock out the water, electric and gas. There was no way we could leave her there in those conditions. We're thinking of investing in an ark. :help: SEND SUNSHINE

  19. Well, Bad News First: I just found out that I must have surgery for (benign) uterine fibroids. I'm devastated. The surgery is in a few days. It's called a myomectomy - DON'T look it up online, I promise you the pictures alone will make you faint. :faint:It's scary. First of all, I've never had any gynecological-related issue or procedure. Never an abnormal pap, no symptoms or irregular periods, nothing. When I go to my OB/Gyn, I just pop in for my well-woman exam and annual pap and go about my way. I'm on a "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" basis with my uterus - I don't bother it, it doesn't bother me. :phanvan So this is a HUGE deal for me. I've never been pregnant or ha…

This thought is stemed from Delarla's thread "The Greatest Gift..." I challenge everyone to make one phone call, send a card or bake some Cookies for someone you don't normally get in contact with. Do this for someone who looks like they have everything or someone you know who needs a pick me up. Encourage someone who is on a diet to keep up the great work. I love this one. It feels great when someone calls me just to say hi or I was thinking about you.

STUN GUN - ONLY A MAN WOULD DO THIS! "Pocket Taser Stun Gun, a great gift for the Wife!" - this was submitted by a guy who purchased his lovely wife a "Pocket Taser" for their anniversary. Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol and Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 22nd anniversary and I was looking for a little something for my wife Toni. What I came across was a 100,000 volt, pocket / purse- sized taser. The effect of the taster were supposed to be short lived, with no long- term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety .... WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it…

Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just take the rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy... The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree. Now Men...Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the shit out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with. Doesn't that just w…

We made an offer on a wonderful townhouse last week and they accepted. If it passes inspection we will be closing on or around the 26th of this month. It is 30 miles away and in a great very small little community. There are great schools and parks for my little one and there is a community clubhouse and pool. We will have 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a finished basement and a fenced in back yard. I can't wait. I am starting to pack and have bought paint so I can really decorate this place to match our styles. So, I would appreciate a prayer and good thoughts for us during our packing and our move. I know that this is the place for us, it is just a doll house inside and we will h…

This is more for the Americans... cause I know what the average gas prices are here in Canada. Right now, in my town, gas is $1.11 (CDN) a litre. That works out to $3.75 (US) a gallon. Is it that expensive for you guys? Isn't it terrible... when I got my license, about 10 years ago, I remember buying gas for 49-55 cents a litre. My how things change. Cigarettes were also about $5 a pack, and now they're at least $11. I'm only 25, and I can already talk about how cheap things were when I was young! lol Geesh! Mandi
