Had consult today...all went well, but have a couple of questions... 1. Dr. K says he usually uses a larger band. Not the Vanguard, but the bigger of the two smaller sized, I think he said 9.75. If a bigger band is used will the stoma also be larger? 2. The stress EKG....it's in the non-invasive cardiology dept, and instead of causing stress via treadmill, they inject a sort of adrenaline or something and then take nuclear images. This kind of gives me the willies. Has anyone experienced this? So I guess the next step is to wait for ins. approval. I'll be waiting with my fingers crossed.

This probably hasn't crossed the mind of many female bandsters, but doesn't the hospital shave around the banding area prior to the procedure? I thought they did with most operations? (never been under the knife before this, so excuse my ignorance) I've the same hairy stomach I've always had... I can hardly see where they've operated through a mat of curly hair. Andy P.S. Sorry if I put you off your breakfast.

Someone else started a conversation about this in the Lounge, I think, but I wanted to start it here on the Texas board, also. Let's use this board as a place to offer or ask for assistance. I live north of Dallas, and can't offer a guest room, but please PM me for my phone numbers if you have questions like where to board pets, local motel/hotel numbers, assistance agency numbers or whatever, and I'll try to get you some info. Others on the other thread have offered their homes and other help, so check for that other thread. Please post if you are leaving your home, what precautions you are taking, etc...and thanks to the Florida folks who have offered good advice. …

Val, called back and said that I should not be eating cream of whatever soups! Whats the deal with this? When I spoke with Bobbi she siad they were ok but that I should stop the milk and puddings the last few days. Kim what did you do? Loretta what did he tell you yesterday? Okay, so I found a pair of jeans in the closet that I haven't worn in .. we'll, I'm not sure if I've ever worn them actually. I bought them, but they were too tight and I did the ole, "Oh, well they'll fit when I lose weight" thing lol. Five years later... So I put them on this morning and they fit. Actually, they were loose, but that's okay. What I'm trying to figure out is, these jeans are a size 16, from Lane Bryant, circa 2000 (think, before stretch demin was invented - they've got no give). So I'm wondering if they're a true 16 or if they're an off size. Anyone an expert of circa 2000 Lane Bryant sizing issues? hehe

The only solid food that works so far without pain is fish and I have been eating it for 2 1/2 weeks daily. I think I'm starting to grow scales. I was banded on 9-29-2005 and although this is my 3rd week, should'nt I be able to eat more solid foods? The soft foods are fine, but earlier I tried to eat chicken salad and almost passed out from the pain. What's up? More oatmeal and cream of wheat? The sugarfree Jello pudding is great, but how much longer until I can eat "real food?" Thanks Rose from Texas

Being scared is a new feeling for me meaning during this entire process not one time have I been scared. Don't get me wrong I am in NO WAY considering not getting my band, I'm just scared. Scared of the surgery, scared I won't be successful, scared I am paying out SOO much money out of my pocket and it won't work, scared I am going to be fat forever. What I don't understand is where have these thoughts came from!!!???? Has anyone else experienced this? Am I over reacting? It is about that time of month and I do…

I was banded on Monday 9/19/05. I expected the pain and bloated feeling but I keep feeling a pain in my stomach that radiates up to my throat which I was not ready for. It only last a few seconds but it's a little scary. I called my doc and I was told it's spasms - stomach and esophagus - which should go away when the swelling subsides. Anyone else ever experience this?

Im sure this has been asked a thousand times, but could someone please tell me how long after a fill does it take to get restriction? I had my first fill yesterday and today I had oatmeal for breakfast. I only ate 4 oz of it, because that was what I was told to do, even though I wanted more. 2 hours later...im starving again! According to the doctor he normally puts in 5-6 cc's for a first fill but since I had "good restriction" he only put in 3 cc's. Should I call him back and tell him it isnt working?

Worth reading for the last couple lines..... In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives. Then using God's great gifts, Satan created Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and Krispy Creme Donuts. And Satan said, "You want chocolate with that?" And Man said, "Yes!" and Woman said, "and as long as you're at it, add some sprinkles." And they gained 10 pounds. And Satan smiled. And God created the healthful yogurt that Woman might keep the figure that Man found so fair. And Satan brought forth w…

I find that sometimes I feel restricted and other times I do not. Is this just all in my head or does it work this way? Is this normal? Does overeating "hurt" the fill or the band? I am trying not to, but I have had trouble a few times. Also, there's a lot of talk about "PB ing" or productive burping. What exactly is that? Seriously, I am not sure if I've done it. Not only that, my Dr. told me I get free fills for the first year! Needless to say I am happy and nervous. My Dr. also said I could more than likely drive myself home the next day. Did anyone else drive themself home the next day? I am thinking I might take a friend and have her drive me home (2 hr drive) the same day. Any info is greatly appreciated.
