Basically my question is in the heading, will the lap-band help with hunger pangs? I have been unable to lose any significant weight, or keep off the little I have managed to lose, because of constant hunger pangs. I am considering the surgery, but would like to know if it helps one achieve a feeling of fullness and satisfaction with little food. Thanks.

Hi all- I've been reading your website and some other information and I'm scared a bit of course but encouraged by all of your successes! I just had a couple of questions that I haven't seen specific answers to... I'm sure they are out there somewhere but here goes- 1) Is a lap-band permanent? I've read that it is "long-term," and I see ppl here with 2+ yrs, but I wasn't totally sure. 2) What happens when you reach your goal weight? I guess you get a fill or unfill that keeps you at your goal weight, assuming the lap-band stays in? 3) Are there any foods that you have found that, for whatever reason, you just absolutely can't eat anymore? And why heh... I…

I have come to accept that there are many foods that I do not tolerate well to this day. Not just beef but even many vegetables, no doubt the fact that i am missing some back teeth has someting to do with it. Still considering what my life has been like,"i'm not complaining at all". I have found that i cannot eat in the mornings and even water is difficult to down. Lunch times are a little better but often food will force it's way back if i try to force the issue. Well I have posted a few times in the past but it is finally time to get serious. I am getting ready to start my journey... I got my financing approved this Wednesday, I have an appointment with Dr Neal in Olympia on Tuesday and I will hopfully be scheduling my surgery then!!!! I am so excited, I have been fighting with my DH insurance for a year trying to get them to pay but it is an exclusion and I figure that I can continue to fight for everyone else but in the meantime I am paying for my surgery and if I win my battle with the insurance I will get my money back. Well that is all for now I will continue my journey as soon as I know more!:clap2:

My insurance supposedly covers it. I have a high BMI, sevral co-morbidities, have been overweight for way over five years, and have managed to lose a whopping 10 lbs in the past year on my medically supervised diet My stats are in my siggy if anyone is inerested in seeing where I am right now. If my insurance denies me, I WILL pay myself.

Hello everyone, This my first time here. I live in Europe, I'm 40 years old, had my lap band surgery a year ago. Unfortunately I didn't lost as much as I would have expected (approximately 10 Kilos - I promise I'll look for a place where I learn to convert kilogrammes to pounds). I found this great place of yours, filled with extremely useful information and ideal for sharing so many experiences, when I was researching on how many ccs it is still possible to fill in my band. I now have a total of 6cc in my band but I still feel that food goes through too quickly and in too big quantity. So many of you here are doing such a great job with your bands! hopefully, that w…

Funny how all the good foods get stuck but the garbage just slides down so easily. Sec... *popping in another M&M*... There I'm back now. Why is it that I'm so hungry all the time? I thought we were only supposed to be able to eat 1/2 cup of food at a meal but I can eat so much. I'm sure I've stretched my pouch. I've had plenty of fills and if I get anymore, I'll end up not being able to eat anything but liquids. Not what I want. I've lost 40 pounds so far but have not lost anything in the last…

Except with family, I'm not comfortable talking about my banding yet. I've joined your group in an effort to change that.

Is there anyone out there from around here? I hurt my back, and in the last 6 months, experienced depression and a 10 pound weight gain. I have gone the last 3 years without a group, but for these last 20 pounds, I really feel like I need some support. I was banded by Dr. Ponce in Dalton, Georgia, and have had no problems. Hi LBT! I have been peeking at this forum for a few weeks and finally decided to join in on the fun. I was banded just over 10 months ago and have lost 92 lbs. This has been the best thing to ever happen to me. Does everyone feel the same way? ...or are there any regrets out there? I am still adjusting to my band. Tonight, a chunk of chicken and I had a showdown. Unfortunately, the chicken won because the dirty bugger snuck down my throat when I wasn't looking (or chewing, I should say). Oh, and is it normal to be completely obsessed with your Lap-Band?

I was banded on Wednesday 2/8 and I guess I feel ok. I still have a lot of stabby pains from the gas. It's espeically bad in my back. Did anyone eat solids or soft foods early? My nurse said that the band doesn't provide much restriction for me and that I would progress faster on the post-op diet then others but hell - I've already had a chicken finger (chewed well) and a 1/2 serving of oatmeal. I'm serously hungry. I don't think I get a fill until 6 weeks.
