Hello I had surgery 5/6. Doing great and love my band even without a fill it is working. I listen and when I feel satisfied I quit eating.. I've been on vactation and at first was a little afraid that I would be my old self. Eating being the first and second things to do on vacation. Someone on the forum--and I don't know who you are right now--ends each of their posts with FAILING IS NOT AN OPTION!!! Amen to this. Although, I haven't needed help, before I even think food I quote this saying. THANK YOU so much for this quote

I am still awaiting my surgery date, but I had a question. My DH and I have a trip to Florida planned in the Fall. I am hoping to get a surgery date asap, but if they offer me something in the 6 weeks prior to the vacation, do you recommend declining it and waiting until after the vacation? We are going to be at Disney for a day or two and I don't want to be in too much pain walking around and going on rides. How long did it take you to feel "okay" enough that you would have been comfortable going on a vacation with lots of activity? Thanks

  6. Hi, I was banded 2/27/08 and I have several issues. I feel like crying...I don't think I made the right decision. It doesn't appear to be working for me. I had my first fill 3 weeks ago. Here are my problems: (1) little weight loss. I've lost a total of 18 pounds but 15 of it was during the liquid/mushy stage. I am losing very little now. Even after a fill I can eat a pretty large portion of food. Plus the band doesn't keep you away from bad food. I have made little progress on weight loss in the past month (down and up the same 3 pounds). (2) of most concern are these spasms I started getting this morning (before I even woke up), in my stomach area. It d…

Ok, so I'm 6 days post-op and it's been pretty easy so far. I haven't taken any pain meds in a few days, the discomfort from the gas (that sucked) is pretty much gone, the diet has been easy to stick to because I don't feel like eating (though everytime I smell hot food my stomach growls), now tonight something not so pleasant. My surgeon said I could try cream of wheat pretty diluted, I took one bite and got massive pain in my stomach. It felt like I had been stabbed in the gut, I ended up coughing up some clearish liquid and my stomach pain has subsided a bit but, OWWWW! What the heck happened and why?

I was just wondering about the kinds of mushie food that people eat when there at that stage. I was thinking about stuff like possibly mashed pumpkin, potato, sweet potato, possibly with some gravy but there the only things I can think of, I don't particularly like the idea of blending any meat and making it mushy so does anyone have any ideas or tips that they used and were easy to digest? Thanks

Hi everyine, I have been away for a few months. I was banded on 03/06/07. I have had several fills, a total of 3.0 cc's. My doctor gives 2 to 4 cc's at at time. My last fill was first week of April. I am having a difficult time this last week keeping several different foods down. I started at 272 and I am down to 219. I am able to drink plenty of liquids. Is this normal what i am going through. do you think it is just a poor choice in foods. I take a bite of something and i actually wait about 15 to 20 minutes before i take another. I have not lost anything since my last fill, I have actually gained 2 lbs. I beleive I get tire of throwing up so I eat something soft that…

Hello everyone, I haven't been on here in a couple of weeks... But tonight I feel the need to vent and maybe to feel a little sorry for myself. Yesterday my dog passed away. My little beagle, 14 years old, died in my arms. I've had her since I was 16.. and well tonight... I feel as if I lost my very best friend. It happened yesterday morning. She was sick and I was holding her in the car on the way to the emergency clinic. I was singing to her and she looked at me and then passed away. I didn't eat yesterday and then ate all day today. My first test of not eating my way to comfort and I failed. And as always, no comfort. I feel sick and horrible ... and in a very em…

I had my surgery on May 1st. Over the last few days, I have been experiencing a cramping feeling on my left side. I know that it isn't my port or my lap band. It is a cramp that is on the upper right front side of my abdomen. I will see the doctor tomorrow for a fill, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this kind of cramping.....

I was banded on April 21st and although I'm doing well I have noticed that from time to time I get stomach pain. Not port pain - but a pain in my stomach. It's kind of hard to explain, but it's almost like when I have to burp and swallow "air", I get a jab of pain in my belly. Again, I know I'm not explaining this well but it's hard to describe. It comes in waves (not constant) and although not terribly painful, it is a bit of a concern, which I will contact my doctor about. Just wondering if anyone else may be experiencing this and what it might be? Thanks.

I was banded on 5/6. When I bend over to pick up laundry or when I'm cleaning it almost feels like my band feels like it pops. It doesn't particularly hurt but it is a very weird feeling. I also feel port pain for a second when I get out of bed in the morning. This also leaves after a few seconds of walking. I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing these weird feeling.

I am now almost 7 days post-op and am having terrible gassy, crampy diarreah-like pains. I sometimes pass the gas and I am having really soft bowel movements, but for the most part, it's just the pain. I am on full liquids until June 6th. Today, I mashed some white navy Beans and mixed it with the broth and a little rice from chicken and rice Soup. It was yummy but soon after, I got the pains again and my stomach still hurts 7 hours later. The same thing happened yesterday when I pureed vegatable beef soup for dinner. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I be concerned? I read that Immodium AD would help or yogurt. Any advice is appreciated!

I have been asking myself that question a lot since I was banded on May 22nd. It has been 4 days, I am still in a fair amount of pain and on pain meds. Today is really the first day I have been hungry, but I am so thirsty for Water. I want to drink a huge glass of it, but know I can't. To make matters worse, my 18 month daughter has come down with a stomach bug and I haven't been able to see her since the day before surgery. Mentally I am crushed because she wants me and I can't be with her. I just need reassurance that things do get better.

Dr. Eric Pinnar performed my surgery on April 18, 2008. I've had two post-op visits with him so far and all is going very well. He asked me to pass along my personal experience with post-op pain because he feels that is a question lots of potential patients have. I'm glad to help. My veins are hard to find so I had the IV in the back of my hand. That was unpleasant, but not bad. More annoying than painful. When I woke up after the surgery I guess I was on pain medication because I really didn't feel much. Because I wear CPAP due to sleep apnea I had to stay overnight in the hospital. As the day wore on my stomach started to feel like I'd done too many situps. …

It is so much easier for my brain to think points instead of calories. Also, as far as carbs go,,I know we are supposed to avoid them, but is it because theyare bad for our band or are they just too high in calories? If so, what about the whole wheat pasta, and whole grain bread?? Thanks so much for the advice!!
