What mushies do you/did you eat?

I was just wondering about the kinds of mushie food that people eat when there at that stage. I was thinking about stuff like possibly mashed pumpkin, potato, sweet potato, possibly with some gravy but there the only things I can think of, I don't particularly like the idea of blending any meat and making it mushy so does anyone have any ideas or tips that they used and were easy to digest? Thanks

hi all, we dont have canned meat in Australia apart from sardines, tuna and salmon, which i dont eat.. i made a lot of veg and blended them with poached chicken, . iput these in muffin tins and froze them. the ones which are made of the rubbery bendy material. i also made some with meatballs all mushed with the veg. it was so easy to just defrost one every nigth in the microwave, with a bit of extra milk or cheese to moisten or soften it again if necessary. I even blended some roast lamb with home made gravy. it was lovely even though it looked awful, tasted just like what the rest of my family was eating.. and that stage didnt last long at all, i just made up my mind that Id got through the surgery and it had to be done so i did it!

Just wanted to say that i tried the "cheese danish" recipe with the egg and cream cheese. YUM!!! I was skeptical at first, but it tastes like french toast and eggs minus the bread!

Thanks!

I'm in the mushy stage now and one of my faves has been the fat free refried Beans topped with diced tomatoes (heated up to tenderness) and a little bit of melted cheese and guacamole, with a little fat free sour cream. Tastes like a whole lot more calories than what I'm actually getting.

I also made some cottage cheese pancakes, which I got the recipe for right here on this board. They were really good and almost all protein:

Half a medium onion, chopped

1 tbs. butter

1 egg

1/2 cup cottage cheese

2 tbs flour

salt

pepper

Saute the onion in the butter until golden -- allow to cool in pan. In a small bowl, beat egg slightly, blend in cottage cheese, flour, salt and pepper, and onion butter mixture. Heat nonstick skillet, spray with Pam, and place four 1/4 cup scoops of batter in pan and spread into small pancakes. Cook until browned. Flip and cook until lightly brown on other side. Top with fat free sour cream.

oh my goodness! so.. today is day 11 for me (banded 5/16) and i was supposed to be on fluids until saturday. But i had my 1st post op visit today and asked the doctor when i can start mushies, and he said today!! so i had already had my two protein shakes for the day and then i made eggs & cheese.. wow, it tasted so good!! i only ate half of 1 egg and some cheese and i was full. i can't wait to have some tuna tomorrow.
