Tina...im with you..with emotions..lol....i always weight about what you do....we can all get through this together...

Its funny all, I have also been eating like no tomorrow, but honestly when time comes to make this change, i AM ready to do so. And i think the fact that we wont feel "hungry" will help tremendously. Even tho we typically eat just out of habit, even when we're not hungry, whenyour stomach if full and y ou just arent hungry..well, thats key - so we should be very successful!

I'm soooo happy to be finally ready to do this...! Can you imagine by the end of the year, holiday time..how amazing we will be looking??? :ihih:

Anyone afraid of the "thinness"

hi

to be honest i am just a little, i guess because i have never seen myself at a normal weight. i think im prob just scared of everything now that i have my date. i keep thinking is this really about to happen for me.

i've seen people on tv who have lost weight yet still see themselves as that overweight person and i dont want to be like that. whatever weight i lose will no doubt make me healthier than i am now and thats what i want to be.:w00t:

WOW! I had no idea that there were so many of us getting surgery around the same time! The eating like there's no tomorrow actually has a name. It's called "The Last Supper Syndrome". The nutritionist at the surgeon's office told me about it and asked me if I thought I was doing it. I'm like "do birds fly?" I'm with you all on that one!

I'm kind of afraid to see what I'll look like thin too but I'm so excited about it too!!!! Just think, we will all be healthy and able to do so much physically again. That is more what I'm excited about than the thin part. But to be able to wear skinny clothes will be great too!

Hey all! I have made my "face" known on a few other July threads, but thought for good measure I would post here too. My surgery is July 1 and liquids begin June 17th....and i am happy to know that my "last supper" behavior is more common than I thought...cuz lemme tell ya! It's been ON! But it has accomplished what I wanted it too....I am so sick to death of fast foods and deserts that I am in some twisted way looking forward to liquids!

I am super excited to share in this with each of you! :w00t:

Hi All! Looks like a lot of us across the Country will be banded on July 20th! I'm in California and I'm scheduled for the 20th, too! I'm a little nervous but am really looking forward to changing my life for the better!!

My next appointment is July 7th to go over labs etc. I'm struggling right now trying to shed the 10 pounds my Doctor wants me to lose, but I'm getting there...

Glad I won't be "alone" on the 20th!!! :)

Hello all July Bandsters! :)

I am being banded on July 9th. The whole process has really only taken me a month. I told myself if this was meant to be it would be a breeze. I am getting nerrvous about sweets too. I love my sweets. But this is a change I have to make for myself and my family. Congrats to all on your decision.:smile2:

Hello! July 13th!!

I have been so worried that I will not be able to do this, but after finding this website and seeing there are people out there to "talk" to that are going through the exact same thing, I THINK I CAN DO IT!!:)

Thank you!!!

How do we get our own forum? So we can all be in one place?

I am right there with you guys. I got approved for surgery in mid-March, with a surgery date four months later. I've had four months of "Last Supper Syndrome"!!! It's awful. I try to tell myself that it's only hurting me to gain before my surgery, but the overriding thought is "must eat foods I love in case I can never eat them again!" While my doctor's office has never said a thing about gaining weight pre-surgery, part of me is afraid that they'll weigh me next week and say "oops, you've gained weight, we need to reschedule your surgery". And I've been waiting 4 months!!! My pre-op diet is only 5 days, but it's liquids only, so I'll probably drop a few pounds with that. Oh well.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
