Dr. David Voellinger is a bariatric and weight loss surgeon located in and affiliated with Carolinas Medical Center - Mercy. Dr. Voellinger has 23 years of experience performing Lap-Band and other weight loss surgery. Currently 144 of our members have Dr. Voellinger listed as their Lap Band Surgeon.

Dr. David Voellinger has been practicing bariatric surgery since 2002 and has performed over 3000 surgeries. He completed a laparoscopic and bariatric fellowship at Mount Sinai in New York. He is also boarded in bariatric medicine. Dr. Voellinger founded Southeast Bariatrics in 2005 and is currently Medical Director of the Novant Health Bariatric Center in Charlotte, NC. He performs gastric bypasses, sleeve gastrectomies, Lap Bands, duodenal switches and revisions. He uses the latest state-of-the-art techniques including laparoscopy, microlaparoscopy, robotics and endoscopy. Dr. Voellinger believes that bariatric surgery is the best tool currently available for treatment of severe obesity but must be used with a comprehensive lifestyle management program that includes nutrition, exercise and behavioral counseling for maximum success.
