Okay, I guess I am getting what I asked for, but my back is not happy. I went to bed early (9pm) and read. I shortly went to sleep and woke up at midnight,2,3,3:30, 4,4:30......heck at five I just got up. I thought my back problems were going away......it must have been the dry weather. Enough complaining.

Okay peep, I hope all of you have a great Sunday. I am going to church early and greet then I have nothing planned until we go to the gym to swim . Yay!

Oh, Julie.......can't wait to hear about the wedding!

Sorry to hear your back is bothering you. It is so strange.... you wake up some mornings and it is killing you and then the next it can be fine. Mine had me in agony again for about 10 days. Then about last Monday, it started feeling better. I do agree that weather has something to do with it, too! Hope you're feeling better soon!

Hi, I've been working....yes, I've been job offered and am employed again, as a contractor, but still I will get paid for doing work. Wow, I can't believe this happened so fast. I barely had two days free (after vacation). Now I have a bunch of new stuff to learn. BUT, the best part, is I can work from home. YIPPEE.

I'm going to go read a book or listen to an audio book or watch TV or something because tomorrow, I'll be doing AutoCAD drawings.

Later..hope everyone is having a great Sunday. Eva

Can't believe you are working again already!!! You sure didn't take a very long rest!!

We had a very enjoyable Sunday.... Went to church, then to Palm Springs to meet a couple we went to high school with for brunch. Very nice place.... good food, enjoyable visit. Then came home and had to take my puppy for a scooter ride. Then watched some football and other TV, and played fetch w/Zoey!! She went crazy for a while.... racing back and forth the full length of the RV attacking one of her squeaky balls. Now she's passed out! She wore herself out.

Eva, Wow a new job already. Good luck and glad you are so happy. I love the pics you have been posting. I haven't heard you say anything about your turtles lately. Do you still have them?

I snagged the monster deal, I got a Columbia coat almost brand new for $38.00. It probably cost close to $200 brand new. Love those re-sale shops. I bought my own yoga mat today so I will be continuing yoga. Makes me feel so good when I'm done. Catch up later. LauraK

I need to go hit some of the local re-sale shops. Enjoy doing that and haven't had a chance in months! Sounds like some good finds for you!

Hey everyone, just checking in. I miss you guys. School is going great. Jacob is doing well on his new dose of adderall. Hubby is working nights lately not so great. My brother and I are going to run my first 5k on Dec. 11th. I am so excited. My Dad is gonna come cheer for me too. Can't wait. I started at the hospital last week. Took vital signs and gave an elderly woman a bath. She was so grateful. She wanted to be clean so bad. I have an exam in the morning so I need to get to bed. Sorry to hear about the cc fraud. Just a little smudge though compared to the great ime yall had. The hospital I am at will hire some students that pass their first term finals. I am hoping to get in on that starting in January. Also the book fair I was in charge of raised 3500 dollars for the school library. It feels so awesome to be able to do something so big. Night everyone.

Sure glad you find time to check in with us every now and then. Enjoy your updates. You're doing so well! And obviously enjoying it! That's great!

Good job on the fund raiser! Our DIL is so good at things like that.

Which reminds me.... grandson, Sr. in high school, made a great 33 yd catch the other night but landed on his right shoulder and broke his collar bone. I think I posted that the other day. He is in a lot of pain and can't really move his arm... And, of course, his high school football career is over! I did find out that he really wasn't counting on a football scholarship. He'd rather play lacrosse in college. And DS wants him to go to U of WA.

Anyway.... DIL posted a short video of the catch and the take down on FB so I put it on my profile page. I had to chuckle... winced when I saw how hard he hit the ground, but he bounces right back up holding the ball in the air!!

Greetings, I just got home from FL and time to only skim posts, I am doing laundry and packing to leave again in the morning for a couple days. Will be back on Wed. Visit with parents went exceedingly well. Best visit I've had in years!! Mom not doing real well in pain a lot, but is having surgery on Monday so hopefully that will take care of the pain, removing some spurs in her spine???

WOW!!

So glad you had a good visit with your parents!!

That's wonderful!

So where are you off to now, world traveler??!!!

We're having some terrific wind tonight. I put the cover back on the scooter when I took the dog out a couple of hours ago. Earl just went out and it's completely blown off again. He better tie it on or it'll be out in the desert somewhere by morning!

Yep!!!! 2 more days:biggrin::blushing:. I go in at 7:sleep:. Surgery is scheduled for 830. My shoulder is first. Should be done with it by 11 then my LAP-BAND® should be in place by noon. I cant believe it is here already. I have been waiting for this day for a long time. I am starting to get nervous now:scared2:. I think the hospital is going to video the surgery for me:thumbup:. night all will catch up later. Chris

Excited for you, Chris!! You're brave to have both those surgeries at the same time. Although, I have to admit, when I had my knee replacement last year, I can't tell you how many times I asked the surgeon if he could just do both knees at once, so I can understand wanting to get it over with all at once.

I am so happy and proud of you. I pray you can get in the hospital after you test like you stated. 1st 5k awesome and I am glad your son is doing well. :)

Chris - I am so happy for you a whole new start with a fixed shoulder than the lapband that is awesome they are going to do that in the same surgery.

Well everyone I am hanging in there work is doing; at least it is a job. My BFF and I are going to start swimming at the pool doing laps to start. It is $50 for 90 days for the pool this is the place I normally take my son during the summer. They have two indoor pools so we should be good. We are taking it slow since we have not really done an exercise excepting walking but not really walking like for a set time just when we go places. So I am taking advice from everyone and taking it slow and 1 Day at a time. Love you all thanks for the support.

Good Morning Peeps! Well, I slept till 1am then I was able to doze till 5am. My back has to be weather and Fibro related. My legs were aching too. Anyway, moving makes it better. I am going to Water aerobics this morning.

Tx.......Prayers for your surgery. You may be in more pain than most, but getting it all done at once is probably best.

Eva, You will enjoy working at home. My DH stays in his PJ's unless we walk before he starts his conference calls. He still has to go into work( 50 miles) at least twice a week, and he is off every Friday.

Melissa, You will really get the best exercise by swimming. It burns the most calories, but watch out, it does make you hungrier. So have a meal plan for after you swim.

Lori,......I am so glad you had a good visit. I prayed for your relationship with your mom. Your off again? Denver? You are going to be pooped. Take Care! Happy Trails!

Phyl, I saw your pics on FB of Zoey. She is so cute. I am sure she looks forward to a scooter ride. My Charlie starts dancing around when I put my walking clothes on.

Jessica, You go girl!!!! We will be cheering you on! So good to hear Jacob is adjusting to his medication. It will help him so much in school.

Julie, Tell us about the wedding. Miss ya!

LauraK......wow what a find! I love good bargains.

Apples - Andrew is suppose to move in 11/1 - going to try and get keys so that he can move in on the weekend (11/1 monday) - I'm not nervous he can handle it - the only thing I worry about is the drive to and from cuz he drives too fast and don't want him getting any tickets - thats about the only thing that I am concern w/

Arlene - WTG on exercising even when you aren't feeling good - isn't that an NSV in it self ;0)

Eva - back to work already :0) - I know a lot of telephone pple get job's right away - also those who got early retirement can also get unemployment - don't ask me how but they do..

Good Morning to Everyone...

Arlene...good attitude about exercising to help with the pain. Sorry you have to deal with it. FM sucks!

Melissa...hope you enjoy the swimming with your BFF. Try to set up a daily schedule for yourself and make yourself accountable. Always fun to have someone to go with.

Julie...how did the wedding go?

TX...the anticipation (I feel) of surgery...especially the LB with life changes, etc. is so much more prior than after. Will be thinking of you as you go through both of these surgeries. Just follows both of your doc's rules and do as they say. Hopefully you will heal quickly.

Great...as Phyll said...you are the world traveller. How's your food plan been going with all this travelling? Happy to hear you had a nice weekend with your folks. (Breathing a sigh of relief). I know you get nervous about your get-togethers. Safe travels.

Jessica...good going on the fund raiser. Also, happy to hear your son is adjusting to his meds. Good luck with the job at the hospital. Have missed you lately.

LauraK...a girl after my own heart. I LOVE consignment shops. I have found sooooooooo many new/almost new peices that you'd swear were made for me. I have even been able to find my size of slack/jeans in longs which I usually have to special order. Fun!

Eva....how did I know you would be right back to work? Good for you. Funny...I work from home and most days would give ANYTHING to be off to work.

Cheri...your last few posts about your school children just makes me so sad. So many children fall through the cracks. Thank God for teaches like you that make it your life. We are so sheltered here (yes, kids do get into trouble some) but where you live the opportunity for kids to get into deep trouble from outside influences is so much greater.

Phyll....we are getting the wind that you had yesterday. Also raining. Our corn harvest got rained out on Saturday and it is still raining today. 190 piddly acres left...about a day. Oh well, that's farming. It will get done but looks like rain on and off all week.

Nice photos on Facebook with your friends. You really are photogenic. I freeze when a camera is put in my face. Stone face...hard to smile. I gotta loosen up. You DH looks good. Nice to see he is bouncing right back. I am sure Zoey had some help with that.

Mornin' Janet...hope you have a good work week.

Mornin' Laura...I see you were up for part of the night with storms. I love my sleep but it is interrupted most nights by a bathroom call and something to eat. I've always been so lucky to just go right back to sleep. Volunteering today?

Lots planned for today. Spent so much time working outside that last couple of weeks that it is time to catch up in the house. I have trucks hauling to town today so will have extra at the kitchen table for lunch. Gotta finish my making my apple pies and get them in the oven. Will talk to you all later.

What's that white stuff on the ground? Sure surprised me this morning, it's just a dusting but still I was in 90 degree FL yesterday. I am leaving for Hawaii for 2 days with DH this morning, he has to go back for something and well I just can't let him go without me! LOL

Eva, Congrats on the new job! WTG

LauraK, Don’t you love it when you find a great deal on something you want? I would love to learn yoga but I have to motivate myself to find a teacher.

Jewel, WTG on everything! You are soaring girl. It really has all come together for you. Good luck on your 5K. I ran my first on in September. I had such a feeling of accomplishment after that. It took me a year to reach that goal but it happens if you stick with it.

Cheri, Not melodramatic but spot on. We look to help in foreign countries when we should look in our own neighborhood.

Joyce, Are you in Guam yet?

TX – It is sooooo close. You’re doing awesome!

Great – You will love swimming.

Janet – You have such energy. Always on the move.

I am going to get off of the plateau I have been on since Feb. My weight starting this is 193. I need you guys to hold me accountable. I joined Jillian Michaels website this morning. It cant hurt and it may help. Joyce, are you still with me on this?

Sandy - Mix up your exercise - I am going to try spin tonite (well that's the plan anyway) I think it's going to Kill me - but I thought boot camp was too - and I'm still on the right side of the grass..

Cut the starches that helps too..

Good plan! I love exercising in the pool. But...skipping this morning as it is extremely windy.

Hugs for hanging in there with that job.

So sorry about your back! Hope it is feeling better soon. You're a trooper for going to the pool anyway! But it does help, doesn't it. It would be so easy to stay home! Good for you! Now I feel guilty because I'm skipping just because of the clouds and strong wind!

Yeah, Zoey has a lot of new playmates and admirers! Lots of neighbors arrived last week... Canadians across the street and they now have a little dog. It's a Pom/ShihTzu mix who doesn't like ANYONE, human or otherwise! She'd be a good pal for our cat! HAHAHA!! Neighbors behind us pulled in Friday night with their two puggles. There was a little animosity at first, but now they're all friends.... Zoey, Andy, Charlie! Just on our block I think about 6 couples arrived from WA and B.C. Good to have everyone coming back.

But, yes, she gets very excited when she sees that it's time to take the garbage to the dump, or when I get back from the pool and she knows she's going to get a scooter ride, etc! Or if she sees signs that we're going somewhere in the car.

Good Morning Peeps

Sounds like you had a fairly quiet weekend. Don't know if you got my email, but place we went to was Melvyn's Restaurant at the Ingleside Inn in Palm Springs. It's on Ramon, way at the end, up against the mountain. Very nice place. Good food and they kept filling up our champagne glasses!!

Have a GREAT Monday!

Good Morning to Everyone...

Julie...how did the wedding go?

Yeah... has anyone heard from Julie?? I checked her FB page. No new posts there either. Hope she's okay and just resting!

I love consignment/2nd hand stores, too. One of these days I will go off by myself and explore some in this area. My neighbor had a bag full of stuff she got from someone. She couldn't wear most of it so she gave me some things to try on. I found one blouse that I liked. There were 3 pairs of pants, all size 18, that she gave me to try on. One pair was too big, one pair was too small, but one pair was just right!! :huh2:

Thanks for the kudos on the photos. I guess I'll post one here. I think I already said this... we went to high school with that couple. They live up in the mountains above Palm Desert. We usually get together a couple of times when we're down here. They picked the restaurant.. we'd never heard of it. But i was really nice and we had an enjoyable visit.

Yes, Earl is doing great. Ear is still hurting, but he sees the doc tomorrow so we'll see if there's anything he can do about that. Right now I'm mad at him because he threw away the morning paper before I even had a chance to read it.

Don't work too hard today!!

What's that white stuff on the ground? Sure surprised me this morning, it's just a dusting but still I was in 90 degree FL yesterday. I am leaving for Hawaii for 2 days with DH this morning, he has to go back for something and well I just can't let him go without me! LOL

HAHA!! I saw all that snow on the news this morning and thought of you. I think they were showing the snow in the mountains, though. Enjoy Hawaii AGAIN!!!!

Ugh....not sure what is going on with my nice little camera. All my Vegas pics were extremely fuzzy and it's not any better now.

Anyway, Tanker is all ready for Halloween and for the trick or treat kids to come. We decided he could wear his costume for about a week or more. He does the same at Christmas time. He loves getting dressed up. DS bought him this outfit yesterday. Headless horseman...he's the horse!

Yeah!!!! Phyl is in. We should set up some type of reporting to keep us honest! Hummmm, me lie? Only to myself. So here is my plan. I will list my weight each Sunday morning and my exercise and calroies each day. Today, I walked with my dog to the Dunkin Donuts for coffee = 1 mile. And worked out for 1 hour.

Apples - I love the costume!! harlie and I are ready for the trick or treaters. I picked up the candy yesterday and Charlie is practicing sitting when the door is open.

I'm back from Water aerobics and babysitting. Oh, my arms aches when I had to do the "basketball" ( pretend I am shooting hoops). I am sure it is FM. It was sunny this morning, then when I got out of class it was cloudy and windy. Probably fringe from that storm in Belize.....blowing hard from the south. I do feel much better though A lady at the gym told me about a magnetic mattress. Do any of you have one for your back. She said she sleeps pain free now. She is going to send me the brochure. My DH and I have an adjustable bed. I do know if he can use a magnetic one because he has a spine stimulator in his back.....might mess up the battery.

Poor Lori, having to go to Hawaii twice in one month.....lol! Have lots of fun and sun!

Tanker looks cute.....ready for Trick or Treat!

Sndy....I've been on a plateau ever since I started back on food. I need a fill.....just too hungry since Water aerobics. I am waiting for DH to go on the pouch test with me. I may just have to do without him. I know how you feel about accountability. I have to weigh every week with someone or I go off the bandwagon. I might have to join WW with my DD so we can work at it together. I just need to weigh in....then I will watch the kids while she goes to class. I am going to start taking DGD with me to the gym. .....the two year old....so my DD can get some housework done.

Janet, I hope your DGS gets to move in on the weekend. It will be easier for you. Aren't you flying to see your sis this weekend?

Okay peeps, got some things done around here. I am going to lifegroup tonight. We are having our Christmas party since it is the 25th. I have got to pull out a Christmas blouse.....one I couldn't wear last year. YAY! I know weird, but we are so busy around Christmas this is just a good time to do it.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
