Hey everyone, thanks for all the birthday wishes..... It's been quite a day..... Yes , I was decorating the wedding cake.... nothing professional, but they are done and DD is happy..... the food is all under control, we got most everything moved over to the reception hall and the decorating done tonight... Not a lot left......it's all going quite well so far.... DD is a basketcase..... Thank God, my pain has been very manageable with my pain pills.... I'm doing okay.... I'm very tired and need to head for bed..... another big day tomorrow finishing everything up..... I promise to be back for real in a couple days.... Hugs and prayers for everyone.... Love you all........ Julie

Hope everything goes well tomorrow!! Thinking of you!

Eva, loved reading about your travels. Pics please?

Laura.....okay, you are excused from posting this weekend.....HUGS!

Lori, Is everything okay? I thought we would hear from you.

Apples......I should get my PB2 today. I am going to cut up celery and add this to my diet. Raisins too. Sounds so yummy. What about the chocolate? Is it good too?

Julie........gonna have to change your name to Superwoman. A wedding cake....... You go girl!!!

Well, gotta go get on my walking shoes. I have to get the stiffness out of my back. We have a session with the trainer this evening.

What is this PB2 you are all talking about??

I must have missed something!

Here's your proof, Eva

Good Morning Everyone...will talk later in the day. Gotta run

Cute pic!! And love all of yours, Eva!!!

Arlene - I used the lobby cash machine (debit) - not yet showing problems.

Also used Visa card for room and many other locations. My charges were from India and Canada and over the internet - fraudulent charges. Good luck to both of us. Will watch all charges "like a hawk" from here on. I like using my cc for points (like Apples). Also don't like to carry alot of cash.

Eva - YOU GO GET 'EM girl - they can't take away your retirement after 25 years plus 9 years. Get them.

My credit card was also compromised after Vegas. Only place I used it was the hotel. Someone tried to buy a car with it in Brazil. And a few other purchases. Visa caught it right away. I'm back. Not quite done with posts. Finish tomorrow. Cheri

Yikes!! DH is watching my charges... didn't see anything out of the ordinary so far. I think I only used cc at Hooters and South Point.

Grandson, Sr. in HS, landed on his shoulder catching a 33 yd pass tonight. Collar bone broken clear through and he's out for the season. Kind of a shame, being its his Sr. year and he's been doing so well! I know scouts were watching him several years ago and I think he was hoping for a football scholarship somewhere. Don't know if this will effect that or not. He sees ortho doc on Monday.

Your band is almost here. You have done so well on your pre-op. There will be a period of healing time before you get a fill that you feel really hungry. Just stay on the diet your doctor has given you. When you heal you will get a fill.

Joyce.....I will be watching for fraud. With Cheri, that makes four of us that got compromised on Visa. We will be using a different card next month in Vegas.

Phyl, PB2 is powdered roasted peanuts. You just add Water and then you have Peanut Butter. It is only 45 calories for 2 Tbsps. I like it better than Peanut Butter with oil in it. I bought mine from Netrtion.com . I checked online and the only store that sells it in Houston is about fifty miles from here.

Okay gang.......I am going to the country today to Dewberry Farms. My DD is taking the girls so DGD can ride hayrides, pets farm animals.........just a lot of stuff for kids. I will be taking care of Bethany.

I will check in the afternoon. Y'all have a great day!

Good Morning...

Got a little rain overnight...hope it does not halt the harvest...it's going so good.

TX...not long now. Congrats on another 3lbs. Admire your commitment and thinking of you as you prepare for both of your surgeries.

Phyll....major bummer with DGS's injury. When my DS's were playing, we had one little thumb jam..I always had my fingures crossed.

That PB2 is a wonderful product. Expensive, but good. It's a powdered Peanut Butter you can throw into shakes, put in oatmeal, mix with Water and put on celery. If you go to the Bell Plantation website, there are many recipes. There is a section called "healthy" and there are 30 recipes. Lower in fat and calories than the reg PB and quite tasty. I made a Thai chicken last night that was to die for.

Like I stated, it's spendy but goes far. It was cheaper on Amazon but only if 12 jars were purchased. DS's GF used it so she got half. It was a little over $7/jar in the end. But, if I find something I like, it's worth it. Going to make a lowfat cheesecake today with it. Will use it in the recipe (baked) and sprinkle the dry PB on top of whipped cream when I am done.

When harvest is over, I am going to experiment and see about making some protien bars with it.

Julie...thinking of you today. Big day for you and your family. Hope you can enjoy the day. Make sure you find someone to do what you might be tempted to....just enjoy.

Great....hope your visit with parents is going well.

Eva...sounds like someone at your company didn't get their story straight. Hope you can get it all worked out with your retirement status. A little stress to come back to. Love your photos. Wow, some of those buildings in BA are really close...or maybe it just looked that way.

Cheri....hope your conference was a good one. After you posted about your credit card being compromised also, I was thinking. I stated I only used it to buy lunch but remembered...I, too, used it at the Desert Rose when I checked in. I decided I am going to call out there and talk to the manager and let him/her know that a bunch of us used our cards there and most were compromised. Sounds like someone who worked there did it or sold the numbers. My Visa person I talked to said it is so easy for a hotel clerk to write those numbers down.

I won't give anyone's names...so no worries. What's done is done but think they should be aware of it.

DH already has a couple hours in working outside transferring corn from bin to bin and now gotta throw the french toast on the griddle. Later

Ok, kids....have one of my favorite food items to share with you. This is something I order at a restaurant whenever I can and always have. The lettuce wraps in restaurants can be very high in oils so revamped a recipe.

Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Dice 2 raw chicken breasts (large) or use 3 if small....about 1/2 inch cubes

Mix together in a stir fry pan

2 Tbls olive oil

1 cup Water chestnuts

1 cup mushrooms

1/2 onion diced

1 Tsp minced garlic

1/4 cup Splenda

2 Tbls lite soysauce

1 cup water

2 Tbls ketchup

1 Tbls lemon juice

1 Tbls dry mustard

4 Tbls dry PB2

Simmer all of this on medium heat until chicken is done...stir occasionally. (About 6 minutes once it all gets hot)

Serve on lettuce leaves (iceberg). Actually no manners allowed and you can eat with your hands.

Eva, I have really been enjoying your pictures of BA. It looks like a great place.

Julie, Enjoy the day! It is finally here.

Apples, Thanks for the chicken wrap recipe. I think I will have that for lunch today.

Charlene, Thanks for the description of the PB2. I knew it was a powder but I thought it was for making shakes. I didn’t realize you could use it like PB for a sandwich. I will have to try it. We have been talking about going to a corn maze. Maybe this weekend. Hope you have fun on your outing. How could you not? You get to watch Bethany!

Nothing too exciting happening here. I am waiting for the washing machine repairman. The dang thing keeps going off balance. After I am through with him I am going to the Jeweler to pick up my rings. I had gone in a month ago to buy a charm for my Bracelet and my jeweler saw the plastic ring guards I had on my rings, Oh boy, she has a fit! My ring size has gone down 2 ½ sizes and I had bought these guards so I could continue to wear my rings. She said because of the way the stones were set she could only size them down 1 size and then would build up the inside of the rings with gold. She said it would not be visible and they would look fine. I can’t wait to get them back. I have felt naked.

7_4_9.gif All this talk of PB2 has peaked my interest. I just ordered a combo pack of 2 reg PB2 and 2 chocolate PB2 from Bells Plantation. It ran $25 including shipping.

Gosh, I feel so bad for you gals... I always use my CC when traveling...its just my habit not to carry any cash... then I always have my statement to SHOW me where and on what I spent my money at the end of the month.

I nearly mad it to - to go with you all to Vegas... I know it would have been a blast... Janet and Phyl and still talking about it... (I'm their friend from the lucky 7s thread)

Anyways, I hope you all get straightened out and get all of your money back a.s.a.p.

HUGS,

Candice

Apples, we're reporting it to the fraud department of our credit card co. It might not be a good idea to call the Desert Rose as the manager may be involved.

Morning ladies, I agree something needs to be done about the credit card fraud. Cheri's idea is sound, report to the fraud department of your cc's and let them handle it. If enough complaints are made, maybe they'll figure out who is doing it. I do suspect the Desert Rose. I'm so sorry this has happened to you especially since I picked the place out. They had my credit card too, but I did the charges over the internet and they didn't get my card number when I was there because Arlene left hers. I haven't had any issues with my cards....and I'm checking because I did use them in Argentina. So far so good. I think the common link is the Desert Rose. Bad people!!!

My cleaning lady quit again. I think she is having health issues, so guess I'm going to learn how to clean house again. It's a good thing since I don't have any money and I won't get my first check until December. I finally got someone following up on the insurance thing and it will get fixed, it just may take a while.

So off to house cleaning....it hasn't been done for 6 weeks and even I am disgusted with it. She didn't come before Argentina and was supposed to come while we were gone but didn't, so now it's really building up.

BBL

Eva

All those with credit card problems, it might be appropriate to inform the authorities in LV about the problem at the Desert Rose.

Who would we call? Maybe I'll check with my son-in-law.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
